OUR LADY S MESSAGE To the World Given 25th October 2018 to Marija Pavlovic Dear children! You have a great grace of being called to a new life through the messages which I am giving you. This, little children, is a time of grace, a time and a call to conversion for you and the future generations. Therefore, I am calling you, little children, pray more and open your heart to my Son Jesus. I am with you and love you all and bless you with my motherly blessing. Thank you for having responded to my call. Fr. Martin Morris s Reflection Spiritual Director of Medjugorje Centre NE Dear Brothers and Sisters of Medjugorje North East and beyond, In Our Lady's school of love that is called Medjugorje' the first and most fundamental aspect is to come closer to Jesus, the Saviour. To open our hearts to Him, because His Sacred heart is open to us. 'Heart speaks unto heart.' Jesus Christ Lord and Saviour is at the centre of every message of Our Lady. For thirty-seven years now, Mary has come to us with the Gospel message of the call to conversion and repentance so that we may receive the New life' of Jesus Christ. Mary is with us all this time because we are in danger of losing the Faith in her Son, and she wants to bring us to an encounter with Him who is the Lord and giver of this 'New Life.' Jesus will then meet us in the encounter of Faith, and we will allow him to lead us and receive the spiritual gifts of his Kingdom. This is the reason for Mary's coming, this is why she calls it a 'time of grace' because it is the moment in our lives and time, for receiving the 'New Life.' Every day is a day of grace if we recognise the moment of our Visitation, when Mary brings us Christ, and He offers himself to Heal, Bless Sanctify, and Save us in His Love and Mercy. To this we must open our hearts says Our Lady, and the 'New Life' will be ours. This 'New Life' began at the moment of our Baptism, and Mary comes to us to encourage us on the way of holiness. This 'New Life' is the 'New Life' of the Kingdom that Mary interceded for at the Wedding Feast of Cana, the 'New Life' she brought us at the moment of the Annunciation and at Bethlehem. The 'New Life' she brought us when she stood near the Cross of Jesus, the 'New Life' she prayed and received in

the Cenacle of the upper room at Pentecost. Mary brings us 'New Life', the new life of Faith and Holiness in the encounter of her Risen Son Jesus. Our Lady transmits this New Life' for us and 'The future Generations.' What we do in responding to the call of Holiness and Faith, influences the future of the Church and the world. "All generations will call me Blessed." (Luke.1:48) prays Our Lady in her Magnificat, for when the lowly open their hearts to Him who is the Lord and Giver of 'New Life' a river of Faith, Hope and Love streams forth into the future. Our conversion and repentance affect others too. Let us reflect on Hebrews Eleven. Here we read of the great rollcall of our Ancestors in Faith, all walked by the light of Faith, without seeing what was promised. The great men and women of Faith mentioned here, believed in their hearts that the promises made them by the Lord would be fulfilled: "Faith is the assurance of what we hope for, being certain of what we cannot see, Because of their Faith our ancestors were approved." (Hebrews: 11:1.) Let us Praise and thank Our Heavenly Father who is calling us to the New Life of Faith, and with Mary recognise the moment of Grace and rejoice with her that all generations will call her Blessed. God Bless, Fr. Martin November the Month of the Holy Souls Eternal Rest give unto them O Lord And let perpetual light shine upon them may they Rest in Peace Amen 100 th Anniversary of World War One 1914-1918 A hundred years ago, one of the deadliest conflicts in human history came to an end. WW1 was unlike any other war. Families were torn apart, generations of people were slaughtered and towns and cities across Europe were destroyed. This year marks the centenary of the end of this brutal conflict, and Remembrance Day will commemorate the signing of the Armistice on November 11, 1918. We will remember them Peace, peace and only peace. Peace must reign between God and man and among all people. Our Lady s Message

18th Anniversary of Fr. Slavco Barbaric Medjugorje 24th November 2018 Spiritual Father of Medjugorje and Founder of The Mother Village A great inspiration to millions of Pilgrims He travelled throughout the World spreading the Medjugorje message of Peace and Reconciliation Your Brother Slavco has been born into Heaven and intercedes for you. Our Lady s Message 25th Nov, 2000 Our Lady s message to Mirjana 2nd October 2018 Dear children! I am calling you to be courageous and to not grow weary, because even the smallest good - the smallest sign of love - conquers evil which is all the more visible. My children, listen to me so that good may overcome, so that you may come to know the love of my Son. This is the greatest happiness - the hands of my Son that embrace, of Him who loves the soul, of Him who has given Himself for you and is always giving Himself anew in the Eucharist, of Him who has the words of eternal life. To come to know His love, to follow in His footsteps, means to have a wealth of spirituality. This is the wealth which gives good feelings and sees love and goodness everywhere. Apostles of my love, my children, be like the rays of the sun which with the warmth of my Son's love warm everyone around them. My children, the world needs apostles of love; the world needs much prayer, but prayer spoken with the heart and the soul and not only pronounced with the lips. My children, long for holiness but in humility, in the humility which permits my Son to do that which He desires through you. My children, your prayers, your words, thoughts and actions - all of this either opens or closes the doors to the Kingdom of Heaven for you. My Son showed you the way and gave you hope, and I am consoling and encouraging you because, my children, I had come to know pain, but I had faith and hope. Now I have the reward of life in the Kingdom of my Son. Therefore, listen to me, have courage and do not grow weary. Thank you.

REPORT FROM SISTER EMMANUEL of The Community of The Beatitudes www.childrenofmedjugorje.com Medjugorje, October 22, 2018 Pope John Paul II feast day! Dear children of Medjugorje, praised be Jesus and Mary! 1. On October 2nd, 2018, Mirjana received her monthly apparition at the Blue Cross, surrounded by a large crowd. After the apparition, she conveyed Our Lady s message: ( see page 4 ) 2. On October 11th, Ivan shared with the priests present at the private apparition in his chapel, that the Blessed Virgin was "preoccupied". As a mother, one can imagine the pain she feels in the face of the scandals that are happening within the Church, and that are impacting so many innocent people. That is why it is urgent to answer the Pope's call, to pray the Rosary every day in October, and at the end of each Mass, to recite the prayer to St. Michael the Archangel and the prayer to the Mother of God to obtain her protection. But this initiative is such a good one that we want to extend it beyond the month of October! To the whole year! Because evil works all year round and never goes on vacation! 3. We speak a lot about the evil going on in the world and in the Church. We speak but we do not always know how to stop it because we feel too little and weak before the huge Goliath. Now in Fatima, our Heavenly Mother gave us not only a prophecy but also some very powerful advice to overcome evil, namely the Consecration to Her Immaculate Heart. Today, those who are in the most danger and under threat are our children. But, with the Consecration, we have a very efficient weapon to protect them. What is it exactly? We might already know, that through the Consecration, we give ourselves entirely to Our Lady, forever and without reserve, so that we may belong to her. Through this she guides us to Jesus. But there is also another side of the Consecration which we often miss, though it is the most beautiful part of it. We can compare the Consecration with the umbilical cord for unborn babies. While they are in the womb, they receive everything from their mother so that they may live and grow. The same reality happens in the spiritual life when we pray the Consecration: Our Lady gives us all that we need for our spiritual growth, so that we are in a real communion of life and love with her. But for this to happen and work well, we have to become completely dependent on her. This is the key that allows her to give Her Heart to us so that evil cannot touch us. If we experience this reality and teach it to our children, mainly with our example, then we don't need to worry about them. Remember that in Fatima, Our Lady

herself promised: 'In the end my Immaculate Heart will triumph'. We can experience this triumph in our own lives by living the Consecration, by becoming dependent on her. In one word, the more we belong to her, the more she belongs to us. Then we become her living presence in the world as her extended heart. Recently, a family asked me to write down a prayer of Consecration for a little newborn baby girl who was to be baptized. I thought that it would be nice to publish it here. For all the parents who have not consecrated their children yet, this can be used. Of course, each family can adjust it according to their own heart. 4. Consecration of a baby girl to the Immaculate Heart of Mary Blessed Virgin Mary, we are here today to introduce to you our daughter Veronica, this wonderful creature that the Creator has given us and entrusted to our care. In the womb, you were already with her! You know how many times we cried out to you asking that she come to us in good health until the end of the pregnancy. You gave us this victory and now she lives! We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for this miracle! And now, dear Mother, please place your gaze on your little girl, whom we present to you with such gratitude! She is already entirely yours, but today we want to consecrate her especially to your Immaculate Heart, so that her entire being can resemble you. O Holy Mother of God, we ask you to touch her eyes, that they may marvel and recognize Jesus in others; Touch her ears, that they may listen to the voice of the Good Shepherd and follow him; Touch her hands, that they may caress hearts that are desperate, do good and perform works of mercy; Touch her feet, that they may take her where God calls her; Touch her head, that her thoughts may always be pleasing to Jesus; Touch her whole body, that she may always be the temple of the Holy Spirit, pure and beautiful; Touch her soul, that it may always be the tabernacle of the Living God; Touch her heart, that it may brim over more and more with the spirit of love, to be able to console, enlighten and give hope to this world that is so deprived of love! Saint Teresa of the Child Jesus said: "The treasure of the mother belongs to the child". We pray to you: May Veronica benefit from all your virtues, especially those of humility, purity of heart and mercy. And as her parents, may we help her through our example. O Immaculate Virgin, keep her always in your arms, against your tender Heart, wrapped in your motherly mantle, that she may be protected from all evil and all the snares of the enemy.

O Our Advocate, keep her safe from the fears and anxieties that come from the evil one! You who are the Queen of Angels, surround her with legions of Angels and help her to follow their inspirations so that she may always walk on the beautiful path of holiness that God has prepared for her. We ask you to make her a saint! With full confidence, we ask you to help her to fulfill in peace the beautiful project that God conceived for her in His unadulterated love when He created her. May she become His consolation! Our dear Mother, cause of our joy, we consecrate Veronica to you, and we thank you in advance for the way you will lead her to Jesus, day after day, until the blessed moment when she is worthy to enter into eternal bliss, hand in hand with you. (Then you may sing the Magnificat) 5. In September, I went to Castellanza (Italy), where I had surgery on my hip, because I could barely walk anymore. I now have a prosthesis, and the pain in my leg has disappeared, which will soon allow me to once again climb the holy hills of Medjugorje like a mountain goat! Thank you from the bottom of my heart to all those who prayed for me, their prayers were heard! 6. Excellent news: The Hungarian government has banned the teaching of gender theory in the country's universities. This discipline is no longer taught there. The Prime Minister, Viktor Orban, has had the courage to counter the "gender madness", the consequences of which are damaging and even destroying so many children and young people in Western countries. Let us pray for all those who decide to choose Christ despite the persecution that awaits those who defend the truth. See more here: https://www.dw.com/en/hungarys-university- ban-on-gender-studies-heats-up-culture-war/a- 45944422 A few years ago, the Norwegian government decided to abolish public funding for the Norwegian Institute for Gender Studies at the University of Oslo. The reason was a lack of scientific foundation. Watch the documentary here: https://www.youtube.com/watch? v=y252b9aexpy Dearest Gospa, Thank you for being here with us, we are not orphans! We want to follow your instructions and be truly dedicated to your Immaculate Heart! Well... it is difficult to become entirely dependent on you, because it requires us to let go of our ego. Help us to set the eyes of our hearts on eternity, and begin to accumulate treasures in Heaven, treasures that do not perish as do earthly treasures. Sister Emmanuel

Minsteracres Retreat Centre nr Consett, Co. Durham DH8 9RT Minsteracres was a large country house built for the Silvertop family in 1758, now a monastery / retreat centre. The building has been extended a number of times, including the addition of a 2nd floor in 1811, and the North Block in 1865. Minsteracres is a Grade II listed building. The old stable block (separately Grade II listed) was converted into residential accommodation for the retreat house, which opened in 1967. The Retreat Centre of Minsteracres is set in a100 acres of grounds, parkland and woodland, near Consett, Co. Durham. It is a Christian place of prayer in the land of the Northern Saints. Where people of all faiths or non are welcome. At the heart of Minsteracres Retreat Centre is the Passionist community of priests and religious as well as lay people from different cultural backgrounds and nationalities, providing a spirit of prayer and hospitality. The staff and volunteers offer an invaluable contribution to this ministry. Guests can feel at home, be themselves and enjoy the peace and natural beauty which surrounds us. The Community find inspiration in the Roman Catholic Passionist tradition with its focus on keeping alive the memory of Christ s Passion. They follow the example of its founder, Paul of the Cross. In 18 th century Italy he saw the name of Jesus written on the foreheads of the poor and he felt called to reach out to them. He gathered companions to live in community and share the good news of God s love. Likewise, today they come together in community and offer a welcome to people. For many years Medjugorje NE Friends have been fortunate to spend The Medjugorje Annual Retreat at Minsteracres. Leaving the Busy A69 we soon see the sign for Minsteracres. Turning into the long Giant Sequoia tree lined Driveway, The Giant Sequoia Trees resemble giant Redwoods, so tall they almost touch the heavens. There is a feeling of expectation, as we leave our busy lives behind to experience an atmosphere of Peace in this Holy sanctuary. The Minsteracres prayer Dear Lord, We thank you for the beauty and peace of Minsteracres. By your grace, enable us to be a community of welcome and love, compassion and healing, hope and reconciliation. Unite us in friendship that we may follow the path of your cross and resurrection and serve you and one another with joy. Fill us with your Holy Spirit to live and work for your praise and glory. Through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.

MEDJUGORJE RETREAT at Minsteracres 12-14 October 2018 By Lillian Simpson (Jarrow) WHAT IS YOUR ATTITUDE? Wow! What a weekend this was! 48 of us gathered at Minsteracres on the Friday evening wondering what the Lord and our Blessed Mother would have in store for us, filled with expectancy and hope we certainly weren t disappointed. Our Spiritual Director for the weekend was Fr Jeff Dodds, our wellknown and loved friend who has accompanied the Medjugorje North East Pilgrimage many times to Medjugorje. Fr Jeff spent a lot of time talking about holiness and expectant faith and sharing deeply his own faith journey, which touched the hearts of everyone there without exception. Introducing us to the weekend, Fr. Jeff reassured us that there is nothing unorthodox about Medjugorje. Our Lady invites us constantly into an intimate relationship. We don t always know what we are invited to, for example Fr Jeff is making a Pilgrimage to Walsingham with Fr Martin, an invitation from Our Lady. (in Medjugorje we are always taught to pray and respond with the heart). He then gave us a prayer to the Holy Spirit to enlighten us. Fr. Jeff shared with us a little of his personal history; he never intended to be a priest he wanted to go to University to study for a degree, but God had other plans. His father worked for Swan Hunter s in the Shipyard and one evening his mother handed Fr. Jeff an Apprentice Application Form, asking him to fill it in. It ll keep your dad happy and you ll never get the job anyway! So, being a good and dutiful son, he reluctantly filled in the application form for the post of Apprentice Draughtsman. He was called for an interview and again his mam said, Don t worry, you ll not get it. Then he received a telephone call from Swan Hunters offering him the apprenticeship did he want it? Silent and dumbstruck at first, he accepted the post and went to work for Swan s for several years. He was simply being a dutiful son to his mother and as a result his life took another direction. God has a sense of humour. We must be open to opportunities and never put limits on God s plans for us even if they are unexpected and ultimately lifechanging. A call to Holiness with An Attitude of Gratitude and Expectant Faith - Saturday morning, Fr Jeff began by saying that he wanted us to focus on our call to holiness. He reminded us that Jesus called us to be holy as He is holy. He asked how many of us were holy and if we wanted to enter more deeply into holiness. God created us to be his children and our natural attitude should be one of total adoration towards the One who created us. He said that we need two things An Attitude of Gratitude and Expectant Faith. Not just faith in God and Our Blessed Lady, but a genuine faith which really believes that God our Father WILL answer our prayers, together with a heart

filled with gratitude that He loves us, hears us, answers us and gifts us constantly. We also need courage to witness and share our faith, something most of us find difficult. Luke Wilkinson, a seminarian from Oscott College in Birmingham, spoke on Saturday afternoon on aids and obstacles to holiness. Luke quoted widely from the teachings of Blessed Dom Marnion, an Irish born Benedictine. He said the chief aids to holiness are reverence and humility true humility towards God our Creator, while the obstacles include obstinacy, lack of reverence and lack of sanctity. We must not concentrate on self, but on the greatness and love of God and employ an attitude of reverence, especially before the Blessed Sacrament. Other obstacles mentioned were Gnosticism (thinking that knowledge will get us into heaven) and Pelagianism (thinking that we can obtain redemption through our own actions, without Jesus). Humility is the antidote to all these obstacles. Following this talk, there was Eucharistic Adoration in the Chapel, together with an opportunity to go to the Sacrament of Reconciliation and to prepare ourselves for the Healing Service in the evening, when Fr Michael Whalen joined us. Fr Jeff continued his own story:- Whilst working in Swan s, he went to a weekend in the mid 70s, where he first felt his calling to the priesthood. Initially, he was attracted to the Passionist and would come to Minsteracres at weekends after work. However, after a couple of years, he felt drawn to the Diocesan priesthood, where he met Fr Michael Whalen, Fr Martin and others, all of whom have remained very close, supportive friends. The Healing Service itself reflected the whole of the weekend in its loving, peaceful and expectant atmosphere. Fr Jeff first reminded us to have that Attitude of Gratitude and an Expectant Faith to allow God and Our Blessed Lady to work in our lives. He spoke about the time he was saying Mass and collapsed. He was rushed to hospital with his heart beating extremely rapidly. He was at high risk of a stroke, but he had no fear he was confident in the love of God and our Blessed Mother. Even if the doctors had told him that he would die within an hour he would have been quite content. Later Fr. Michael joined him to anointed everyone present. Finally, as with every time we spent before the Blessed Sacrament, he blessed small groups of us in turn. It was a remarkably blessed time, powerful with the presence of the Holy Spirit and under the mantle of Our Blessed Lady. Sunday morning Fr Jeff recalled the first time he went to Medjugorje, when Fr Jozo spoke of his initial caution towards the children s account of Our Lady s appearances. Fr. Joso was the Parish Priest in the first days of the Apparitions 1981. Fr Jeff said that if he d had any misgivings at all he would have got the first plane back to Newcastle Airport and never gone back. Yet Our Lady invites us all the time into an intimate relationship with her Son. He recommended that we gently speak about Medjugorje to others, including our Parish Priests, but

without pressure gently. He encouraged us to set up a prayer corner with a Bible, Crucifix and maybe an image or statue of our Blessed Mother where we can pray and perhaps others might ask us about our faith. He next gave us a sheet of paper to write a letter to Our Lady, together with some suggestions on how to compose it. and encouraged us to keep up the practise so that we can look back and see how our prayers have been answered. During this session, Fr Jeff shared a beautiful poem by Kathryn Turner on Bereavement (Page 13) because it is something we are all touched by if not death then other kinds of loss relationship breakdowns, health problems etc. The weekend was amazing. Everyone without exception felt affirmed, blessed and encouraged by Fr Jeff especially by the way he shared the most intimate moments of his spiritual life and drew us into a renewed experience of prayer and relationship with God our Father, Jesus our brother, the Holy Spirit and the gifts and talents that are God s gifts to us and especially into the love and confidence we can have in Our Blessed Mother. Thank you Fr. Jeff We continue to offer our appreciation and Prayers for - Fr.Jerone, Fr Mark, The Passionist Community, Staff and Helpers. Grateful thanks for the inspired words of wisdom to: Fr. 12 The Ruins of The Holy Jesmond Shrine Newcastle dedicated to Our Lady In the 21st century Jesmond is now famous for it s shops, bars and restaurants. However, if you want to travel off piste and are looking for something special, then a visit to the historical ruins of St Mary s chapel is recommended on the West Bank of Jesmond Dene. According to local legend, sometime after the Norman conquest, an apparition of the blessed virgin Mary appeared at what is now known as St Mary s rock in Jesmond Dene; an enchanting, enigmatic spot adjacent to Ridley Mill. In the 12th century, St Mary s chapel was built. At one time it was thought to house holy relics maybe captured in the crusades. This increased its prestige as a shrine and, as a result, the chapel was later extended in the 14th century. Jesmond (or Jesus mound) became an important place of pilgrimage, centred around St Mary s chapel Pilgrim Street in Newcastle City Centre was once part of the old pilgrim way to the Shrine. These days the ruins of the chapel is accessed either via the Dene or from Jesmond Dene Road. In addition to a house of prayer the chapel may have served as a slipper chapel, where pilgrims removed their ST MARY S WELL footwear before walking barefoot to St Mary s rock. Local clergy (probably Benedictine monks) would have administered to the many exhausted pilgrims, some of whom were either sick or dying. They would have led prayers, offered mass and administered the sacraments. There may have even been a small infirmary to care for those who were sick. In 1479 a rector from Yorkshire who bequeathed a sum of money intended for the pilgrims referred to the shrine as one of the greatest in the kingdom; ranking alongside places like Canterbury and St Paul s Cathedrals. Over the centuries the chapel has had many owners. However, in the 18th century it was returned back to the people of Newcastle by Lord Armstrong and remains in public ownership. Despite its ruinous state the chapel remains a place of prayer; with flowers and statues in various nooks and crannies. Without doubt the chapel retains a certain mystical serenity. A place for quiet contemplation. No description of St Mary s Chapel is really complete without a mention of St Mary s Well, situated on a lane leading off The Grove - a spur off

Jesmond Dene Road. Traditionally The Well has a long history of being a penitential bathing area; although records state that the bathing well was formally constructed in the 19th century. The entrance to The Well is clearly sign-posted and it is possible to walk down to the bathing area. However, beware, as it can get wet and muddy; it s probably best to explore in the warmer and drier months of the year. Over the centuries The Shrine has remained a place of Prayer: From 1952 Theresa McNally regularly led the Rosary until her death in 1990, Before her death she asked Molly Pinchen to continue to lead the Prayers at this Holy ancient shrine.
