June 3, 2018 West Valley Presbyterian Church This morning s theme: God is Faithful Called to Worship Call to Worship: Psalm 117 Praise the LORD, all nations! Extol him, all peoples! For great is his steadfast love toward us, and the faithfulness of the LORD endures forever. Praise the LORD! O Worship The King O worship the King, all glorious above And gratefully sing His wonderful love Our Shield and Defender, the Ancient of Days Pavilioned in splendor, and girded with praise O tell of His might, O sing of His grace Whose robe is the light and canopy space His chariots of wrath the deep thunderclouds form And dark is His path on the wings of the storm Thy bountiful care, what tongue can recite? It breathes in the air, it shines in the light; It streams from the hills, it descends to the plain, And sweetly distills in the dew and the rain. Frail children of dust, and feeble as frail, In Thee do we trust, nor find Thee to fail; Thy mercies how tender, how firm to the end, Our Maker, Defender, Redeemer, and Friend. Scripture Reading: Isaiah 65:17-25 (page 624) Confessing our Sin Prayer of Confession Almighty God, through the resurrection of Jesus Christ you have given us a sure hope and future, yet we confess that we have set our hope on other things: money, family, success, pleasure. Forgive us for breaking your Law and putting these things ahead of you. By your Spirit, help us to set our hope fully on your promises and to lead holy lives as we await Christ s return. Words of Assurance: Romans 8:1 There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. Great is Thy faithfulness Morning by morning new mercies I see All I have needed Thy hand hath provided Great is Thy faithfulness Lord unto me Summer and winter and springtime and harvest Sun, moon and stars in their courses above Join with all nature in manifold witness To Thy great faithfulness mercy and love Pardon for sin and a peace that endureth Thine own dear presence to cheer and to guide Strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow Blessings all mine with ten thousand beside Communion in Sacrament Everyone ought to examine themselves before they eat of the bread and drink from the cup. 1 Corinthians 11:28 Prayer of thanksgiving Gracious Lord, we give you thanks for calling us out of the darkness and into your glorious light. When we remember the price you paid, the death of your only Son, we can only wonder and marvel at the greatness of your love. We give our lives to you Lord, and pray that through your Spirit you would teach us how to live according to your will. Send us out now to love and serve you as faithful witnesses of your mercy. Serving West Valley Kids Are you interested in serving the kids at West Valley, either in nursery or one of the classrooms? The summer can be a good time to test the waters. However, a prayer bulletin will be available each month to encourage us to be faithful in prayer. Discipleship Focus: Life in the community Over the summer our focus will be on living for Christ within the various communities God has called us to. Here are a few things we have planned.
