Go to the altar rail with eyes lowered, with hands joined, in a most respectful a itude; let your walk be grave and slow. Kneel down with joy and happiness in your heart. When receiving Communion, keep your head straight and still, your eyes lowered; open your mouth modestly, moisten your tongue and let it rest on the lower lip; keep it still until the priest has laid the Sacred Host on it. If you so wish, leave the Host on your tongue for a moment, so that Jesus, Who is truth and holiness, may purify and sanctify it. Then, when you have swallowed the Sacred Host, place your heart at the feet of the Divine King, your will at His orders, and your senses at His divine service. Chain your mind to His throne that it may no longer go astray, or rather, place it under His feet that He may press out its pride and fickleness. --from A Eucharistic Handbook, page 95 How many times a day may a person receive Holy Communion? Can. 917 A person who has already received the Most Holy Eucharist can receive it a second time on the same day only within the Eucharistic celebration in which the person participates There is an erroneous notion that in order to receive Holy Communion a second time it must be at a special celebration (wedding or funeral, etc.). The above Canon clarifies that this is not the case and Holy Communion may be received twice a day at any Mass.

Extraordinary Jubilee Holy Year of Mercy December 8, 2015 -- November 20, 2016 Pray the Divine Mercy Chaplet For the conversion of poor sinners! I heard these words in my soul: Say unceasingly the chaplet that I have taught you. Whoever will recite it will receive great mercy at the hour of death. Priests will recommend it to sinners as their last hope of salvation. Even if there were a sinner most hardened, if he were to recite this chaplet only once, he would receive grace from My infinite mercy. I desire that the whole world know My infinite mercy. I desire to grant unimaginable graces to those souls who trust in My mercy (Diary, 687). Chaplet of Divine Mercy Our Father, Hail Mary, I believe On the Our Father beads, pray: Eternal Father, I offer You the Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity of Your dearly beloved Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ, in atonement for our sins and those of the whole world. On the Hail Mary beads, pray: For the sake of His sorrowful Passion, have mercy on us and on the whole world. In conclusion, pray three times: Holy God, Holy Mighty One, Holy Immortal One, have mercy on us and on the whole world. We need volunteers to staff the Rectory Office Monday- Friday from 4:00 to 7:00 PM. If you wish to help, please see Father Miara. Thank You! BENEFACTORS NEEDED! Benefactors are needed to help pay for the cleaning and renovations to the Church Hall as well as the Rectory. If interested in helping, please contact Fr. Miara at the Rectory. Your generosity will be much appreciated! The Most Holy Rosary Whatever you ask through the Rosary will be granted. --The Blessed Mother to St. Dominic Join us for the recitation of the Holy Rosary every weekday at 11:55 a.m. and 5:20 p.m. and on Saturday at 12:35 p.m. and Sunday at 2:10 p.m. Our Lady revealed fi een promises to St. Dominic (the Saint to whom the Rosary was first given in the 12 th century) and later to Blessed Alan de la Roche (who reignited devotion to the Rosary in the 15 th century) for those who recite the Holy Rosary. We will print one each week as an inspiration to practice this most powerful devotion! Promise # 7 Whoever shall have a true devotion for the Rosary shall not die without the Sacraments of the Church. This promise highlights the benefits of obtaining the most possible Graces at the hour of death via the Sacraments of Confession, Eucharist, and Extreme Unction (Anointing of the Sick). Being properly disposed while receiving these Sacraments near death ensures oneʹs salvation (although perhaps with a detour through Purgatory) since a final repentance is possible. Envelope System In order to maintain accurate records of your contributions, we are in the process of creating a new database and, thus, we request all parishioners to fill out a Parish Registration Form located in the vestibule and return to the Rectory Office or the Collection Basket as soon as possible. This will enable us to verify your donations should it be necessary for tax purposes. Thank you for your cooperation!

The Shrine to the Unborn Blessed by Cardinal O Connor on December 28, 1993 The Shrine is dedicated in Memory of the Children Who Have Died Unborn We invite you to name your child(ren) and provide the opportunity to have your babyʹs name inscribed in our Book of Lifeʺ. Often children who have died before birth have no grave or headstone, and sometimes not even a name. At The Church of The Holy Innocents, we invite you to name your child(ren) and to have the opportunity to have your baby's name inscribed in our "BOOK OF LIFE". Here, a candle is always lit in their memory. All day long people stop to pray. On the first Monday of every month, our 12:15pm Mass is celebrated in honor of these children and for the comfort of their families. We pray that you will find peace in knowing that your child(ren) will be remembered at the Shrine and honored by all who pray here. We will inscribe the names of babies who have died before and at birth in our Book of Life, and as always, we invite you to visit the Shrine if you are in New York City.
