UNCONDITIONAL LOVE The month of February has long been a month to focus on love. We celebrate Valentine s Day with red hearts, flowers, candy and special notes of love for our sweethearts. You may remember the old cartoon from the seventies, LOVE IS. The cartoonist. did a running series of clever insights into relationships reminding the readers what love is. I always enjoyed reading them. Paul reminds us what love is in 1 Corinthians 13 when he tells us, Love is patient. Love is kind. He also tells us what love is not, It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self seeking, it is not easily angered, and it keeps no record of wrongs. (4-5) What we learn from this chapter is the supremacy of love. We also learn that love is more about our actions than the words we speak. We also learn that love is eternal. You have probably heard that the Greek language has three words that have been translated into English as love. There is phileo brotherly love; eros physical love; and agape unconditional love. It is the agape love that is most used for the love God has for us and for the love of Christ. It is also true that we as followers of Christ are called to demonstrate agape love. This deep rooted type of love transcends the bounds of reason as we love one another as Christ loved us.

Members of the choir, please bring your favorite dish to share. Needed!!! 4 Youth ages 10-15 years of age to learn change ringing on Wednesdays at 6:30 with handbells for the Easter season. Youth, if you are interested in this project, please see Julie. The gift that gives Youth Senior High Convention February 24-26 at South Parkersburg Baptist Church. Cost is $35 and registration ends February 12. Love ever gives, forgives, outlives and ever stands with open hands. And while it lives, it gives. Christmas Shoe Box Campaign To get a head start for our 2017 Operation Christmas Child, we are asking for your participation in our new ministry outreach by helping us collect items for the shoe boxes each month. This will help us to be able to share the gifts of Christmas all around the world to many more children. There is a box by the door designated for the donated item for that month. Beginning this month, we are asking you to donate Match Box Cars. We will request a different item each month and announce that item in the bulletin and monthly newsletter.
