Hindi and Sanskrit Sambhashana Shibira Students of class VI to X participated in Sambhashana Shibira from 17th October to 29th October 2016. During this fortnight, students were made familiar with two languages Hindi and Sanskrit and to communicate well using the two languages. Overall the students actively participated in the shibira enjoying each and every activity. Rani Chennamma Jayanthi Rani Chennamma was one among the foremost women warriors of Karnataka. Rani Chennamma Jayanthi was celebrated on 24th October, 2016. Kum. Rishika Prasad of VII B spoke about Rani Chennamma s childhood, her interesting past and her marriage with Raja Mallasarja. Rani Chennamma was a brave woman who attacked the British army. hough she was captivated at the end, she gave tough battle to the British army and thus became famous for her indomitable spirit. Kannada Rajyothsava and Sardar Vallababhai Patel Jayanthi We celebrated the Kannada Rajyothsava on 1st November, 2016 with lot of fervour. Students participated in many programs making the occasion a memorable one. Dance and music was the highlight of the day with a sense of belongingness towards the state. he guest for the day was Shri Raju, a multi faceted personality. He engaged both the students and adults with his mesmerising speech, songs related to Kannada creating a proud feeling of oneness among everyone.
Sir C.V Raman Jayanthi and Bipin Chandra Pal Jayanthi Class VIII children Kum. Sumedha and Kum. Anagha spoke about Sir. C.V Raman and Bipin Chandra Pal respectively on this occasion which was celebrated on 7th November, 2016. While Sir C.V Raman s childhood, education and his contributions to ield of science were highlighted during the talk, Bipin Chandra Pal s role in the struggle of Independence was emphasised in the speech. Utthana Dwadashi Tulsi plant was well decorated with lowers and worshipped on the occasion of Tulsi Puja which was on 11th November, 2016. he signiicance of worshipping Tulsi was well expressed by Kum. Rachana of class IX. She laid stress on the ceremonial marriage of Tulsi plant to Lord Vishnu which signiies the end of monsoon. She added to this that the ofering of Tulsi leaves is mandatory in ritualistic worship of Vishnu. Swadeshi Saptaha A week-long celebration of Swadeshi Saptaha started from 14th November, 2016. Students prepared posters based on the theme Swadeshi, encouraging everyone to buy Swadeshi products and making it popular. Students of class VI to X showcased their talent in the assembly by playing rhythmic beats on the tabala. Guru Nanak Jayanthi Guru Nanakji was remembered on his Jayanthi (14th November, 2016). Kum. Akanksha of class V B spoke about the contributions of this saint towards the society. She also added that Guru Nanak was the irst Sikh Guru and was responsible for shaping the beliefs of the Sikhs. She mentioned about Guru Granth Sahib Book which includes 974 poetic hymns of Guru Nanak. Kanakadasa Jayanthi On the occasion of Kanakadasa Jayanthi (17th November, 2016), students of VII A presented a Kruthi of Kanakadas. Kum. Aditi of class III A spoke about his contribution towards music, mentioning few famous kruthis. Sri Vinay Chandan spoke about Kanakadasa, Dasa Sahitya and how Kanakadasa played the vital role in propagating the religious thoughts. He also highlighted Kanakadasa s love for Udupi Krishna. Jhansi Rani Lakshmi Bai Jayanthi On the occasion of Jhansi Rani Lakshmi Bai Jayanthi, on 21st November, 2016, Kum. Naina Mathad of class VI A spoke about its importance. She spoke on the life history of Rani Lakshmi Bai and depicted the valour showcased during the battle against the British. She also added that today s women must inculcate these values and raise their voice against any injustice in the society.
Kartheeka Deepotsava Kartheeka Deepotsava is celebrated in the month of Karthika. It was auspiciously performed in the school on 21st November, 2016. Our Honourable Chief Guest for the day Sri Jayasimha, Scientist at ISRO spoke about the importance of the day and the scientiic reason behind celebrating it. his was followed by songs and bhajans on Lord Vishnu. he participants illuminated diferent formations in the quadrangle by lighting lamps. he program came to an end with the shanti mantra and distribution of prasadam. Jagadish Chandra Bose Jayanthi On the Jagadish Chandra Bose Jayanthi which was on 30th November, 2016, Smt. Divyashree Chetan spoke on his discovery of Crescograph, an invention to detect plant response to stimuli. She also acknowledged about the hard times faced by Bose and how he came out of it withstrong determination. His must read books for the students Response in the living and the non-living and he Nervous Mechanism in Plants were mentioned in the talk. GANIT Week In order to wipe out the fear of Mathematics which is most commonly seen in children, we celebrated GANIT Week in our school. Class I and II children had quiz competition on 16th December, 2016. Class III to V had mathematics relay race and quiz organized on 17th December, 2016. Class Ito X had Vaahini wise Quiz competition organised on 19th December, 2016. On the last day that is 21st December, 2016 prizes were distributed for the winners. Also, Kum. Naina Sharma of class V briefed about the signiicance of GANIT Week and mentioned about Srinivasa Ramanujan s innumerable contributions to world of Mathematics. Gita Jayanthi Observation On the occasion of Gita Jayanthi on 12th December 2016, Sri Narahari delivered a speech on the importance of Bhagavadgita. He even gave the jist of what Krishna had preached Arjuna before the battle. He mentioned one of the quotes of Bhagavadgita that It is better to live your own destiny imperfectly than to live an imitation of somebody else s life with perfection. Sharada Devi Jayanthi God resides in the place where women are worshipped. Remembering this quote we celebrated Sharada Devi Jayanthi on 20th December, 2016. Kum. Aishani Sagar of class VII B gave a brief introduction of Sharadha Devi. Later, Sri Vinay Chandan recapitulated Sharada Devi s life and work on this occasion. Makara Sankranthi Celebration Makara Sankranthi was celebrated on 16th January, 2017. Smt. Savitha spoke about the signiicance of the day highlighting the beneits of the traditional practices related to this festival. Students of class VII B sang a song apt to the occasion. Children later shared the traditional Yellu Bella with each other. Madan Mohan Malaviya Jayanthi Observation On the occasion of Madan Mohan Malaviya Jayanthi, on 28th December, 2016 Sri Naveen spoke on the childhood, education and life of this great personality. He added during the talk that Madan Mohan Malaviya is remembered as the founder of Asia s largest residential University, Banaras University at Varanasi.
National Youth Day Remembering Swami Vivekananda on National Youth Day (12th January, 2017), students of class V put up a wonderful Yoga Display and created awareness about righteous living through the sayings of Swami Vivekananda. Class VII students also sang a song apt for the occasion. Bharat Maata Pooja was performed by all the children of the school. Smt. Shyamala Kamat addressed the teachers on this Day. Also, vivek bands were distributed in the school. Children of class V A and B visited the nearby village spreading awareness about National Youth Day. Kuvempu Jayanthi he irst recipient of prestigious Jnanapeeta award, K.V. Puttappa or Kuvempu s birthday was celebrated on 29th December, 2016. Sri Vinay Chandan summarised the contributions of the great Kannada novelist and poet. He also quoted few of Kuvempu s thoughts like O nanna chetana, Agu nee aniketana. Lala Lajpath Rai Jayanthi Lala Lajpath Rai Jayanthi was celebrated on 28th January, 2017. he class teachers spoke to their respective class students on the childhood, achievements and contributions of the great personality. his was followed by a power point presentation based on the life of a great leader of Indian Independence Movement, Lala Lajpath Rai. Pouranik Quiz he inal round of the Pouranik Quiz was held on 17th January, 2017. he contestants participated enthusiastically. Class VI, VII and VIII were fabulous spectators to the grand inale. Republic Day Students joined the nation in celebrating the 68th Republic Day on 26th January, 2017. Chief guest of the day Air Commodore R. N. Merani advised the students to retain the child in them. He also wished them good luck in all their future endeavours. Apart from the Vaahini wise marchpast, girls of class VII presented a patriotic dance and students of class VI sang a patriotic song. he Karate display by class V students was awe- inspiring. he Ghosh-display by class X students left the audience spell bound.he Bharath Mata Puja was initiated by Meraniji followed by pushparchane by all the students, teachers and parents. he day ended with everyone singing the Vande Mataram.
