BIBLE BASICS CONFERENCE 2014 Some Lessons from Egypt to Canaan
SUBJECT 1: PASSOVER REDEEMED BY BLOOD Michael Vogelsang
A New Beginning And the LORD spake unto Moses and Aaron in the land of Egypt, saying, This month shall be unto you the beginning of months: it shall be the first month of the year to you. (Exodus 12:1-2)
A New Beginning Historically: in God s dealings with Israel Dispensationally: in God s dealings with men Individually: in God s dealings with the individual soul
God has to judge For I will pass through the land of Egypt this night, and will smite all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both man and beast; and against all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgment: I am the LORD. (Exodus 12:12) For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness (Romans 1:18)
All are guilty! whether Egyptians or Israelites for there is no difference: For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; (Romans 3:22-23)
Spared from judgement. On the basis of redemption by blood. Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood (Romans 3:24-25) Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him. (Romans 5:9)
Spared from judgement Passover = to pass over and when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and the plague shall not be upon you to destroy you, when I smite the land of Egypt. (Exodus 12:13)
The blood applied in faith And they shall take of the blood, and strike it on the two side posts and on the upper door post of the houses, wherein they shall eat it. (Exodus 12:7)
God s appreciation, not yours and when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and the plague shall not be upon you to destroy you, when I smite the land of Egypt. (Exodus 12:13)
Safety and Peace House No. 1 Worried, fearful, Who knows? House No. 2 eating the lamb with inner peace God said it and we believe it.
to you a token And the blood shall be to you for a token upon the houses where ye are: and when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and the plague shall not be upon you to destroy you, when I smite the land of Egypt. (Exodus 12:13)
Christ our passover Christ as the passover lamb: For also our passover, Christ, has been sacrificed (1. Corinthians 5:7) Behold the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world. Behold the Lamb of God. (John 1:29.36) For these things took place that the scripture might be fulfilled, Not a bone of him shall be broken. (John 19:36; Exodus 12:46)
Christ our passover Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot: Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you (1. Peter 1:18-20)
The feast of unleavened bread For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us: Therefore let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, neither with the leaven of malice and wickedness; but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth. (1. Corinthians 5:7&8)
The feast of unleavened bread The passover feast = one day The feast of unleavened bread = seven days It refers to the whole period of the believer s life on earth. Be in practice what you are in position before God in Christ.
Through faith he (Moses) kept the passover, and the sprinkling of blood, lest he that destroyed the firstborn should touch them. (Hebrews 11:28)
