Faith Fellowship January 13, 2013 Twelve Promises for the New Year.
Introduction Misunderstanding God s promises for us now can lead to discouragement, ingratitude and self-pity. Our expectations do not match what He has promised. Deception we should have all needs and wants met. Faith in God weakens.
God is not human, that he should lie, not a human being, that he should change his mind. Does he speak and then not act? Does he promise and not fulfill? Numbers 23:19
A) "If you let me borrow $10.00, I ll pay you back tomorrow. Promise!" B) "I ll meet you at the mall at 1:00 p.m. next Saturday." C) "Have a good trip. I ll write to you every week!" D) "Mom and Dad, I will do better on my next report card." E) "I ll be sure to pray for you everyday."
Now I am about to go the way of all the earth. You know with all your heart and soul that not one of all the good promises the Lord your God gave you has failed. Every promise has been fulfilled; not one has failed. Numbers 23:14
By faith even Sarah herself received power to conceive seed when she was past age, since she counted him faithful who had promised: Hebrews 11:11
His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness. Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature and escape the corruption in the world caused by evil desires. Twelve Promises for the New Year!
3 things: 1. You have to know about the promise. 2. You have to understand the promise. 3. You have to biblically and accurately claim the promise. 11
Conditional promises: And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus, and thou shalt be saved, thou and thy house. Acts 16:31 - if
Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye doubleminded. James 4:8
Unconditional promises: 12 promises for the Christian to claim. 1. God s Presence I will never leave thee (Heb. 13:5)
Never will I leave thee; never will I forsake thee Hebrews 13:5 Be strong and of good courage, fear not, nor be affrighted at them: for Jehovah thy God, he it is that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee. Dt. 31:6
And surely I will be with you always, to the very end of the age. Mt. 28:20 -disciples first but
No one will be able to stand up against you all the days of your life. As I was with Moses, so I will be with you; I will never leave you nor forsake you. Joshua 1:5
