Harbor Light Pcph.org Presbyterian Church of Palm Harbor January 2019 Happy New Year! Did you make any resolutions? How are you doing with them? In its own way, the Church has its own New Year. It began on the first Sunday of Advent (December 2, 2018). Throughout Advent, we waited, prayed, hoped and expected. Of course, the culmination of Advent was our celebration the birth of Jesus Christ. Just this past Sunday, we watched and listened as the Wise Men visited the infant and worshipped; it s a Sunday we call Epiphany. Our word epiphany comes from a Greek word meaning manifestation or appearance. This is the time where we will travel with Jesus from his baptism throughout his public ministry focusing on his teachings and healings. In other words, as disciples of Jesus Christ, we will watch and listen as Jesus both inaugurates and proclaims the kingdom of God. As we do, it can be helpful for us to take our own self and communal inventory: How is your prayer life? Do you have a daily time to give thanks to God for the simple things as well as pour your asks to our gracious and good heavenly Father? How are we serving? Let s take note of Jesus life for the next 2 months as he welcomes anyone and everyone always with the intent of telling them the Good News of God s rich and unfathomable love for anybody and all creation. How is our discipleship, both personal and communal? Are we studying God s Word? Being challenged, shaped and transformed by it? What about worship? Like the wise men before us, are we bowing the knee, and offering gifts our lives, our love and devotion? May the Lord bless and keep you throughout this new year and beyond. Shalom, Bruce A Safe Harbor where the Light of Christ Jesus directs all who are adrift to anchor themselves in Him. Creating Connections Through Christ Creating Connections Through Christ

January 2019 Creating Connections Through Christ Page 7 What s Happening in Children s Ministry? Happy New Year! I can t believe we are already in 2019! At the end of a year, and as we approach a new one I always find myself taking time for some reflection. There are some memories made that I will remember forever, and other hard days I am happy to have learned lessons from, and leave behind. As I think about the children at PCPH I am so excited for another amazing year growing with the students and growing in our ministry! We have lots of exciting things planned such as continuing with the Chimer s Choir, camping at Cedarkirk, movie nights, camps, and lock-ins! Children s Ministry is thriving, and ready to take on 2019 with enthusiasm, and a desire to spread God s Love! Thank you to the PCPH community for the constant flow of support through all the things we do. -Huiran Xaxni, Children s Coordinator January Dates to Remember: January 6: Sunday School (Children brought in to take part in communion) January 13: Sunday School (after children s message) January 16: Kids Worship is BACK!
