Look around you, and you will see them. They are not always the people you grew up with. They are the people who have joined the journey to learn more about God and the ways of God's people. All: They are the people who abandon houses and land, fame and fortune for the sake of the gospel. One: They are the people who pray through the night for the safety of someone else's child or for the healing of someone else's loved one. All: They are the ones who offer a cold cup of water to people considered outcast. They do so in the name of Christ. One: Who are my brothers; who are my sisters; where is my family? ABOUT OUR BANNERS The Easter banner views Jesus resurrection from the inside of the tomb looking out. The grave clothes reflect the note in John 20:7 that the burial linens were left in the tomb with the head wrapping separate from the rest. The contrasting darkness within the tomb and the brightness outside point to the light of God s new day breaking upon a new creation (2 Corinthians 5:17). As Jesus exits the tomb, clothed in a loin cloth, he is about to surprise Mary with the realization, The Lord is risen! The Lord is risen indeed! (John 20:18). The artist who painted the banner is our own Bambi Setzer. FOR THE CHILDREN Worship Care is provided for children, infant - kindergarten aged on the first floor of Building B. Children s Worship resumes this month for 1st through 3rd graders. It meets on the 1st, 3rd and 5th Sundays of the month. During the Hymn of Devotion, children meet their leaders in the narthex to walk together to Children s Worship (B244). After the worship service, parents pick up their children from B244. Volunteers are needed to help chaperone the children during that time. If you are interested in volunteering one Sunday, please contact Amine Seifert, amine@knollwood.org. For the 2 nd and 4 th Sundays children are invited to enjoy the worship service with their families. Children s activity bulletins and crayons are available in the narthex. The food is to benefit the Bolton Elementary School families participating in the backpack program. Many students at Bolton receive food on Fridays because of food insecurity at home over the weekend. When school is out for the summer, these children will not have the two meals provided on weekdays at school or the extra food on Fridays. This collection will give these families a boost. We are requesting that you bring as many of the items listed below as you can, in your own paper grocery bags. There will be people ready to assist you before Sunday School/worship on the morning of May 31. Flyers with the list of foods requested can be found in the narthex.
