Go to Www.scv132.org Commander s Corner Greetings Members of Litchfield 132 & Compatriots, Halloween and Thanksgiving is now memories for this year. The Christmas Season is now upon us. Let us not forget the true meaning of the season and give thanks to the Lord for our bountiful good fortunes and our lives. This year, Edward Altman and Ed Thompson came up with the idea to give back to the community to the needy folks, 5 of us presented food baskets the Monday before Thanksgiving to 2 families. More on this in the newsletter. At the December meeting, I will be ceding the office of Commander of Litchfield 132 to our newly elected Commander Terry Carter. Terry has been an outstanding member and asset to the Camp, since he returned to our ranks. I urge all members to support him & the Camp, as you have supported the Camp under my leadership the last 5 years. The camp has achieved beyond my wildest hopes in our endeavors in the community and the projects that we have started. Just a reminder, our Camp is hosting the 7th Brigade Lee-Jackson Banquet on Jan. 16, 2010 at 6 pm at the Springmaid Resort. We have to have a head count by Jan 4, for the resort staff to make final arrangements for the meal. The cost is $30 per person and you can stay the night for $59 plus tax, just inform the desk when making reservations that you are with the Sons of Confederate Veterans. Registration forms can be found at our website, www.scv132.org. I will have some forms at our December meeting for anyone interested. Our December meeting will be our Christmas party. Richard s is catering again with BBQ and Chicken Bog. Please contact me at 293-4082 or kt007@sccoast.net before Dec. 8. Richard needs a head count so he will have enough food prepared. The cost is $10 per person. In closing for the last time as Commander, let me say that I have enjoyed the trials and tribulationals of the past 5 years as your Commander. Together, we have accomplished many things and I am proud to say that I belong to one of the best Camps in the Confederation. I will continue to support the Camp and the Cause in the future and look forward to our Camp becoming the premier Camp in the State. Let s keep working together and strive to keep Litchfield in the front as we start a new year. Thank You Compatriots for letting me be you Commander. Keeping the colors unfurled, Commander Litchfield 132

PAGE 5 GIVING BACK TO THE COMMUNITY On Monday before Thanksgiving Ed Thompson, Edward Altman and delivered at basket for Thanksgiving dinner to Benjamin & Geraldine Small of Socastee. The basket contained a turkey, ham, assorted and a pie. The Small s were very surprised and grateful for the generosity of vegetables the members of Litchfield Camp 132. Bobby Scarborough and Terry Carter delivered a basket identical to the one given the Small family to the Cushing family in Conway on the Monday before Thanksgiving. The Cushing s had recently fallen upon hard times and were most thankful for our efforts to insure a Thanksgiving meal for their family. Bobby & Terry went dressed in uniform and the Cushing kids were excited that the Cowboys had appeared at their house. Just before Christmas, 2 more families will be selected and receive identical food baskets, so they can enjoy a wonderful meal for Christmas.
