elife THE HEART OF GENEROSITY SERIES But since you excel in everything - in faith, in speech, in knowledge, in complete earnestness and in the love we have kindled in you - see that you excel in this grace of giving. 2 Corinthians 8:7 For the period May 31 st to June 6 th, 2012 IN E-LIFE THIS WEEK Volunteer Needs Summer Day Camp Urbana Prayer and Fasting Fear Module Fitness On Rock News Frontier Lodge TOPIC: "Generosity Changes Entire Countries" SPEAKERS: - Sam Watts, Megan Fournier, Andrea Gariepy and Eric Picotte You will experience a Sunday morning that you will not soon forget! Baptism, Testimonies, Children in Battambang, Cambodia LIVE in our service! Once upon a time, an expert in religious law asked Jesus Christ who is my neighbour?. This question caused Jesus to tell one of the most widely known parables, the parable of the Good Samaritan. This week s message will focus on the question that was asked not as much on the response that was given. The question may have been designed to see if Jesus could narrow the scope of the requirement in the 10 commandments to love your neighbour as yourself. Jesus did not provide the answer that might have been expected. He did not provide a geographic, cultural, religious or demographic definition. Instead the parable clearly indicated that a loving response ought to be our reflex whenever and wherever a need was evident. How do we make sense of this command that Jesus gave in today s world? We ll start our morning by witnessing a baptism that Tina Avila is leading. Then, the kids we support from our orphanage Battambang 1 will be with us LIVE in our service (via Skype) as we formally bless and send out the various teams and families who will be heading out to partner with them in Cambodia during the summer. This interactive session is going to stir your heart, and our kids from BB1 are excited to participate because they will get to stay up late on Sunday night in Cambodia! The message will also be preceded by testimonies from three WBC young adults, who have been used by God to be part of His mission in various parts of the globe. They will tell us of how God is at work and how generosity changes entire countries.

PRAYER AND FASTING this Sunday: 8:30 am to 10:00 am in Room 103. On this month s agenda, besides our regular prayer for Asia s Hope BB1 and our local Missions, (la Corde, On Rock, West Island Mission, Frontier Lodge), we will also be uplifting Harmony Mission Team and Parchment Skies as they go through their final preparations. We will also pray for Evange & Claire as they prepare to preach/teach with Parchment Skies and at the Youth Conference in Battambang. The DeWits will also be in Thailand and Cambodia for Asia s Hope. Much to pray for!! MODULE - FEAR FACTOR Sunday 9:00 am to 10:00 am in the lounge we continue with the second of three weeks, led by Susan and Sam Watts. This module does NOT feature any leaping from tall buildings, jumping out of speeding watercraft or eating strange bugs!!! WITHIN THE UPCOMING 7 DAYS Have you ever felt really fearful? What are some of the things that cause you to become paralyzed by uncertainty? This module is designed to explore some of these questions and their implications in our lives as Christ followers. There is a "healthy" fear, but how can we deal with "out of our control" types of fear? Can it distract us from our relationship with Jesus? What does the Bible say about this? So, don't be fearful...join us!! FITNESS: The fitness class regularly scheduled for next Tuesday evening, June 2 nd is being rescheduled to Wednesday June 3 rd at 7:30 pm. ON ROCK NEWS ON ROCK / WESTVIEW PARTNERSHIP: As we heard recently, Westview has entered into a deeper two-fold partnership with On Rock: specifically, our first goal is that once a month, a group connected with Westview (Bible study, group life, young adults, youth, or other) would commit to preparing the meal and evening program for the Tuesday On Rock Community Diner. Each Tuesday, from 5:30 pm - 8:00 pm, the On Rock Community Diner provides a healthy meal to low-income families in the West Island. They provide simple meals that are healthy such as spaghetti dinners, chili, casseroles, etc. Second, we are wanting to have a regular roster of volunteers to assist at the Food Bank with the packaging and or delivery of the weekly food baskets on Mondays. We are excited to be part of the ministries of On Rock as they care for those in need in our community. To sign up a group for the Diner or to volunteer for the Food Bank, contact Julie Sparkes: juliesparkes@gmail.com / 514.620.7781 ONE HOUR TOURS of On Rock are a great way to visit and learn more about what goes on there. Kim Reid will gladly answer your questions and tell you more about the lives that are touched through the ministry of On Rock. This ministry is growing by feeding the hearts and families in the A Ma Baie area. Do you have an hour to spare? To book a tour contact: kim@onrock.org / 514.696.1905 CLEAN-UP DAY: On June 9th from 9 am - 2 pm, On Rock are having a clean-up day. If you have an hour or two, we would really appreciate your help as we clean-up our wonderful "new" location at 9554 Gouin Ouest in Pierrefonds, H8Y 1R3, behind the Bowl-a-Drome. Please e-mail kim@onrock.org or call 514.696.1905 if you plan to come out. Bring a rake or a broom if you can. Lunch will be provided. Every little bit helps. FRONTIER LODGE VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES: If you are looking for a place to serve, a chance to change the world and an opportunity to have an experience that will change your life... why not consider working at Frontier Lodge this summer? We still have some support staff openings in the kitchen and on maintenance. For more information contact Steve Townley at the camp office 819.844.2277 or office@frontierlodge.org MINISTRY PROGRAM AWARENESS EVENT: All are invited to the gym next Sunday June 10, following the service, between 11:45 am - 12:30 pm, to become better aware of the numerous ministries Westview offers, in order to consider which ministry program leadership team you are led to join, for the upcoming year. There are many opportunities for all of us to serve the Lord in some way at Westview. A publication of all the ministries and their staffing needs will be e-mailed to all e-life subscribers tomorrow, will be posted on the events/calendar/news page of the website and will be available for viewing at the Welcome Center on Sunday. 4

SANCTUARY RENEWAL We want to invite you to stay after the service this Sunday for a Family Chat to learn more about the Sanctuary Renewal Plan Mike Calo introduced to us last Sunday. The Family Chat will take place in the sanctuary at noon. Light refreshments will be available as well. A few years ago, we took a big step overseas to begin a work and a partnership that is yielding fruit and changing lives in Cambodia. This year, we entered partnerships with local initiatives seeking to break the cycle of poverty in the lives of kids in our very own neighborhoods. Today, we have the opportunity to raise the bar for us as a church and reach the people in our city with the Gospel of Christ. It s a vision that will take place in the very room we gather on Sunday mornings. We recognize that God has placed us intentionally in a city that abounds in creative and artistic talents. With this in mind, the Sanctuary Renewal Plan will not only lay the foundation for continuing effectiveness in our Sunday morning worship services but will also establish a venue for the arts unmatched in the West Island. Imagine missional partnerships with groups like music conservatories, students, universities, theatre groups, and dance teams. As well as hosting events like plays, recitals, conferences, concerts and music camps. This vision will include renewing certain physical aspects of our current sanctuary related to sound, lighting, staging, imaging and room aesthetics. What a very exciting opportunity for us to use a tremendous resource in a big way to build real relationships with people, share the gospel, and give them an opportunity to respond! SAVE THE DATE: September 9 th Westview will be hosting our 2 nd Annual Block Party for the community. 5
