News + Events Received into the Christian Church today through Holy Baptism is Gary Wolf Taylor. Gary is the son of Beau and Julia Taylor and was born Feb. 28, 2018. His baptismal sponsors are Joe and Lorianne Meek. Table Talk with Congregation Council: Don t miss this opportunity to talk with your Congregation Council at Table Talk TODAY during Discipleship Hour from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Members of Council will be available at small stations in the narthex to share celebrations, share updates on progress with staff positions and listen to your concerns. If you are unable to join us or have another commitment during this time, please share your comments, questions or concerns with us at tinyurl.com/rlctabletalk Bridges of Hope: Faith Communities and NAMI: Carole Wills, RLC s organist and long-time mental health advocate, and Pastor Ryan continue the important exploration of mental health and faith communities. Learn to recognize signs of mental wellness and illness, appreciate the significance of faith and faith communities to mental health and get acquainted with the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI). TODAY at 9:30 a.m. in Resurrection Hall. Ash Wednesday: Join us for Ash Wednesday worship, March 6 at 7 p.m. Worship includes Holy Communion and the imposition of ashes for those who desire it. All are welcome! First Communion Instruction: Pastor Ryan is offering First Communion instruction at 6 p.m. in the Luther Room on Wednesday evenings during Lent (March 13 - April 10). Children in fourth grade normally participate in these classes, but older children who haven t yet received the instruction are welcome and encouraged to attend as well. Participating students will receive their first communion during Maundy Thursday worship on April 18 at 7 p.m. Questions? Contact Pastor Ryan: prryan@rlcindy.org. A note about children communing at RLC: We normally offer First Communion instruction for 4th graders, however, parents are free to discern whether their children may begin communing at an earlier age. Parents may wish to include one of the pastors in that discernment process, and we encourage you to let us know if your child is going to commune earlier than 4th grade so we can support your family s faith decisions appropriately. Help Needed at DMKA Literacy Night: Douglas MacArthur Kindergarten Academy (DMKA) is hosting a literacy night for students and their families on Wednesday, March 13 from 6-7:30 p.m. DMKA is looking for six people (age 16+) to work at their book fair so teachers and staff can be available in classrooms. Please complete the yellow Connect Card and select one of two shifts to serve: 5:45-6:45 p.m. (leaves time to attend Lent worship) or 6:40-7:35 p.m. Questions? Contact Julie Jessee at community@rlcindy.org. Quilters and sewers: Join us for our next Quiltmakers gathering Thursday, March 14 from 10:15 a.m. - 4 p.m. We are devoting this time to completing a special project for the upcoming I-K WELCA Biennial Convention. Please bring your portable sewing machine, a lunch and enjoy the day with us. Questions? Call Pat Hamby at (317) 508-9015.

News + Events (cont.) Maundy Thursday Agape Feast: Following the 7 p.m. April 18 Maundy Thursday worship service, all are invited to the annual Agape Feast in Resurrection Hall, a moving conclusion to the Maundy Thursday service and a special memory for our first-time communicants. Agape means love in Greek and the Agape Feast reminds us of Jesus feasting on this night with his friends. We too gather for this candle-light feast in a beautiful, symbolic foretaste of the community of heaven. Your help is needed to make this beautiful event possible. The Agape Feast Team needs volunteers to donate food, help with setup and cleanup and food replenishment. We also need to borrow artificial ficus trees. Watch for more details in the Sunday announcements and for opportunities to serve on the Connect Card (in late March). Questions? Contact Diana Deitch at 317-752-9936. The Food Pantry Ministry: Donations to the Food Pantry Ministry will be given to Hunger Inc. in Perry Township. Hunger Inc. is open twice a week, helping individuals and families who are food challenged. Pasta and long grain rice continue to be donated to Second Helpings. Second Helpings prepares meals at their center and sends them all across Indianapolis. Community centers, churches, homeless shelters, after school programs and our own Friday Community Meals ministry benefit from their work. Please place donated items on the white shelves outside Resurrection Hall. Weekly suggestions for March: : cereals, juices March 10: toilet paper, toiletries, diapers March 17: canned vegetables and fruits March 24: canned soup 1: canned meats and spaghetti sauce Every Week: pasta and long grain rice Member Mailboxes: Member mailboxes have been updated. Generosity Gem: If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together. (Come, join us, and go far.)

Long-time members, guests and inquirers are invited to join Pastor Ryan for Discipleship Hour in Resurrection Hall each Sunday during the season of Lent (Sundays March 10 - April 14) for a joy-filled exploration of Christian faith as it is practiced in the Lutheran tradition. We will be ordering booklets for participants, so please indicate your interest on the yellow Connect Card in today s bulletin.
