January 2019 The New Year is a wonderful chance to begin a new process for growing in your faith. On Sunday, January 13, Missy Wright, Director of Discipleship at Wesley, will hold a Discovery class for newcomers and others who wish to more fully understand and participate in the mission of Wesley. She will go over opportunities for growth and service. If you are interested in being a part of this class, please call Missy at the church (282-6722). This class will be at 9:40 in Room 306 on Sunday the 13th. On Sunday, January 20, I will host my monthly Coffee with the Pastor at 9:45 in the Gathering Area just off the sanctuary. If you would like to visit with me, learn more about Wesley or the United Methodist Church, and or learn about becoming a member of Wesley, please plan to join me on that day. In the last year, we have been privileged to welcome many, many new persons as members of Wesley. It is a blessing to have people invest in the mission of God through our church! 2019 is going to be a fantastic year here at Wesley. Pajama Movie Night January 25, 6:00 PM Yay! It s Pajama Movie Night with Peter Rabbit! Join us for pizza, popcorn, and a movie. Wear your pajamas and bring a blanket and a cuddly :). Children (ages 3 4 th grade) must be accompanied by an attending adult. Jingle Jam Thank you! A huge thank you to all the teams of Jingle Jam: singers, actors, dancers, greeters, refreshments, tech, and wardrobe. Thanks to those who helped promote our Jingle Jam celebration. Much appreciation as well to the friends and families who attended. You can never know the impact you may have made on someone s eternity. Happy New Year! Parents Meeting January 20th 4:00-5:00 PM In the Fellowship Hall Parents of 7th-12th graders This is a mandatory meeting for those who have students in 7th-12th grades. Youth can meet at the church and go get ice cream during the parent meeting. Mini Movie Night January 6th 6:00-8:00 PM at Wesley 7th-8th and 9th-12th grades Popcorn provided. Bring your own movie candy. We will keep parents updated on the return trip.

January Communion Offering The Heisse Johnson Hand-Up Fund The funds collected are distributed by Good Samaritan Ministries and the Salvation Army to individuals who have qualified for assistance with their energy bills. You may write a check to Wesley and put Heisse Johnson Fund on the memo line. Be a Resurrection Supporter! PLEASE SUPPORT OUR YOUTH ON OUR ANNUAL TRIP TO RESURRECTION, January 25-27, 2019 Each student pays $75 to attend although the actual cost is roughly $300. We need your help to raise the additional funds. We have 26 youth going. We would greatly appreciate any support, financially or through prayer and encouragement. You are welcome to give your contribution to Jane or put a check in the offering plate to Wesley Memorial with Resurrection on the memo line. Food Item for Good Samaritan Ministries Our food item January is Canned Corn Our goal is: 300 Please place in the designated containers in the Narthex and Tower Area by January 31st. Monthly Mission Emphasis Items Item for January is Items for Bucky s Pantry. They are requesting: mac & cheese; coffee 1 lb. bags; and cereal. This is a the food pantry at ETSU. Bucky's Food Pantry diminishes or ends hunger on ETSU campus for all students, faculty and staff in the most convenient, discreet and easily accessible means possible. Please place items in the drop off bin by January 31st. Life Groups and Sunday School Classes If you are not currently in a class or group, please come check out some of our newest ones on Sunday mornings at 9:40. There are also existing classes that would welcome you as well. Contact Missy or Gerald at 282-6722 for specific information. Discovery Class Sunday, January 13th - 9:40-10:40 This class is offered to people new to Wesley or those who want to learn more. This class will give you the opportunity to meet others, learn about the various classes, studies, and groups offered that you may want to be a part of, and to learn about all the different ministry opportunities available here at Wesley. There are classes for youth and children during this time, as well. We will be meeting in room 306. Please let Missy know if you have any questions.
