The Phillipston Congregational Church, U.C.C. Our Community Church Sunday Service at 10:00 a.m. Sunday School begins at 10:00 a.m. Dear Friends, I hope to see all of you at the Christmas Eve worship service on Monday, December 24 at 7:00 p.m. at the Congregational Church of Phillipston on the Common. The Phillipston Congregational Church Is Located On the Common, Phillipston, Ma EVERY ONE IS WELCOME! COME VISIT! Please come and join our Church Family! Services & Sunday School are held on Sundays at 10:00 am. Parents are encouraged to take part in Sunday School, if they wish. A Coffee Hour with refreshments follows the service & on the second Sunday of the month there is usually a Pot Luck Brunch, where everyone may bring one of their favorite dishes. If you forget your dish, you are still welcome to participate, there is always enough food! For more information you may call 978-516-8061. YOUTH GROUP is held every Saturday night from 6 to 8. Children ages 9 and up are invited to attend. You do not have to be a church member to join us. A fun time is had by all. Thank you Board of Assessors Phillipston Woman Is Awarded Silver Medal Karen Perkins was recently awarded the Silver Medal by the Massachusetts Horticultural Society for her work in the propagation and promotion of epimediums. The Horticultural Society has been presenting this award for 118 years to individuals who are dedicated to the science of horticulture and make a contribution of excellence in that field to benefit the public. Karen's business on the common is called Garden Vision Epimediums. She is the biggest supplier in the United States of that beautiful delicate plant. Congratulations Karen! The Alfred H Marengo Jr Drive for Homeless Veteran's 25th Annual Winter Drive Running from October 15 ~ December 5, 2018 Please contact Lauren M Roy for drop off of the following items: Gently used clothing for men and women including undergarments (no used underwear please), long underwear, socks - ANYTHING you wear in the winter they need Brand new in the pkg Sub Zero Sleeping Bags, thermos', flashlights, batteries, winter coats, boots, hats, mittens, gloves, backpacks and/or large ladies pocket books. All Personal Hygiene items for men AND women must be un opened, toothbrushes/paste, pkgs of wash cloths (pre`moistened) Small gifts such as Hershey kisses, scented hand lotion, lip gloss, pretty hair products such as barrettes, elastics etc. Please make sure that the items you donate are in good condition, these benefit the brave men and women that have served our country and have come home and for whatever reason find themselves homeless. My 501C3 non profit strives to respect and maintain the esteem and character of these men and women who have sacrificed for our freedom. LADIES BENEVOLENT SOCIETY The monthly meeting of the Ladies Benevolent Society was held at the home of Mel Haughton with hostesses being Nancy MacEwen and Marie Lalina. The Holly Berry Fair will be held in the vestry of the church on Saturday, December 1, 2018 from 9am to 3pm, A Holly Jolly Time for All. The Ladies still have a few Church Cookbooks left and their price has been reduced to $20 a copy. They will be available on December 1st at the Fair. A great Christmas gift for that someone special. Also at the Holly Berry Fair, there will be pictures with Santa, Christmas Attic Treasures, Raffle Items, a Cookie Walk, Baked Christmas Goods, Gift Items (vendors will be present), Face Painting and a delicious luncheon available ($) sponsored by our wonderful Lion s Club of Phillipston. Plans are being made for our annual Christmas Party on Wednesday, December 19th at 12 noon in the vestry of the church, for more information contact 978-516-8061. There will be no meeting in January 2019. The February 20, 2019 meeting will be held at the home of Nancy MacEwen with hostesses being Nancy Marr and Marie Lalina. The March 20, 2019 meeting will be held at the home of Nancy Nason with hostesses being Joanne Haley and Claire Adomaitis. You do not have to be a member of the church to join the Ladies Benevolent Society. We welcome all ladies, for more information please call 978-516-8061. Have a blessed Christmas! Phillipston Transfer Station Update Telephone 978-249-9747 Transfer Station Hours will be year round Wednesday 4:00pm 6:00pm Saturday 7:45am 1:45pm Transfer Station Stickers Transfer Station Stickers for 2019 can be purchased at the Board of Health Office in the Town Hall Annex on any Wednesday from 10am to 2pm, and from 4pm 6pm Wednesdays during December. The cost for the 2 year sticker is $40.00; additional stickers up to 2 per household are $5.00. Please bring in proof of residence (tax bill, light bill, etc.) and your vehicle registration for each vehicle requiring a sticker. If there are any additional days that the stickers will be sold it will be posted at the Transfer Station and on the door of the Town Hall Annex.
