Ministers All Members Kurt Jensen, Pastor Tom Hunt, Visitation Pastor Easter Sunday Festival Worship April 1, 2018 Prelude Hymn Christ the Lord is Risen Today No. 367 Call to Worship Time for Greeting Announcements Children s Message (on screen) Worship Hymn Alleluia! Alleluia! No. 365 First Lesson Isaiah 25:6-9 On this mountain the LORD Almighty will prepare a feast of rich food for all peoples, a banquet of aged wine the best of meats and the finest of wines. 7 On this mountain he will destroy the shroud that enfolds all peoples, the sheet that covers all nations; 8 he will swallow up death forever. The Sovereign LORD will wipe away the tears from all faces; he will remove his people s disgrace from all the earth. The LORD has spoken. 9 In that day they will say, Surely this is our God; we trusted in him, and he saved us. This is the LORD, we trusted in him; let us rejoice and be glad in his salvation. Second Lesson 1 Corinthians 15:1-6, 20-26 Now, brothers and sisters, I want to remind you of the gospel I preached to you, which you received and on which you have taken your stand. 2 By this gospel you are saved, if you hold firmly to the word I preached to you. Otherwise, you have believed in vain.

3 For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, 4 that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, 5 and that he appeared to Cephas, and then to the Twelve. 6 After that, he appeared to more than five hundred of the brothers and sisters at the same time, most of whom are still living, though some have fallen asleep. 20 But Christ has indeed been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep. 21 For since death came through a man, the resurrection of the dead comes also through a man. 22 For as in Adam all die, so in Christ all will be made alive. 23 But each in turn: Christ, the firstfruits; then, when he comes, those who belong to him. 24 Then the end will come, when he hands over the kingdom to God the Father after he has destroyed all dominion, authority and power. 25 For he must reign until he has put all his enemies under his feet. 26 The last enemy to be destroyed is death. Gospel Mark 16:1-8 When the Sabbath was over, Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, and Salome bought spices so that they might go to anoint Jesus body. 2 Very early on the first day of the week, just after sunrise, they were on their way to the tomb 3 and they asked each other, Who will roll the stone away from the entrance of the tomb? 4 But when they looked up, they saw that the stone, which was very large, had been rolled away. 5 As they entered the tomb, they saw a young man dressed in a white robe sitting on the right side, and they were alarmed. 6 Don t be alarmed, he said. You are looking for Jesus the Nazarene, who was crucified. He has risen! He is not here. See the place where they laid him. 7 But go, tell his disciples and Peter, He is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see him, just as he told you. 8 Trembling and bewildered, the women went out and fled from the tomb. They said nothing to anyone, because they were afraid. We welcome to this family Meal all who believe that Christ is present in the bread and wine, offering the full benefits of His grace, namely the forgiveness of sins, life and salvation. Children who have not received instruction about Holy Communion are invited to come with their family for a blessing. If you are unable to come to the front to receive the sacrament, let an usher know and it will be brought to you. We also offer gluten free wafers and white grape juice for those who prefer those options. If you desire either of them, simply point to the center of the tray where they are available. Thank you to all those who had a part in making this such a meaningful Lenten Season, whether by helping with the Lenten suppers, providing special music, or attending the services. Dear Friends in Christ, It has been my distinct privilege to have served you as visitation pastor for these past 17 months following Pastor Anenson's retirement. I have felt so warmly welcome here. Your words of love and compassion to Sandy and me have meant a great deal. However, my lung disease (COPD) continues to sap my energy and enthusiasm for ministry. Therefore, I'm stepping down as visitation pastor following the Easter Festival worship on April 1st. I want to thank you for allowing me to step back into ministry after a lengthy time away. I want to say a special thank-you to Pastor Jensen for the gracious way he has allowed me to partner with him in ministry, inviting me to serve as my health and energy allowed. I pray God's hand of grace and favor may be over Immanuel and each of you as we press on in service to our risen Lord. We look forward to continued fellowship with you. Again, my thanks and God bless each of you. Yours in Christ, Pastor Hunt Please join our prayer team each Sunday before and after worship (8:00/10:30 A.M.) to pray for worship and other prayer requests. We meet in the classroom #5 next to the chapel. HEY KIDS! Happy Easter! Hope you have been enjoying the Lenten and Easter books from our church library. The library board has a gift for you so stop in the library after our Easter worship service to pick up your gift! Have a wonderful day celebrating the resurrection of Jesus Christ! 8:30 A.M. Call the church office by Friday morning if you need a ride to and/or from worship on Sunday we ll provide the ride! We will try to honor last minute requests.

We are celebrating Compassion Ministry on Sunday, April 29. We know many of you have been sponsors of a child through this ministry. Please contact Sarah Gelner at 515-291-4386 if you would like to help in any way on that Sunday. If anyone would like to share their experience with this ministry or help at the Compassion table after church to answer questions about the ministry and/or help others to sign up to sponsor, that would be terrific. We are hoping we will have many more people join this wonderful ministry! If you have an emergency need for a pastor outside of office hours, please call the church office (733.4972). There is an emergency number you can call listed on the answering machine. Have something to share with the congregation? Share your announcements or prayer requests with the congregation via E-mail or weekly Sunday bulletins. Announcements for both e-mail & Sunday bulletins are due by noon on Thursdays. If Easter means anything to modern man, it means that eternal truth is eternal. You may nail it to the tree, wrap it up in grave clothes and seal it in a tomb. But truth crushed to earth shall rise again. Truth does not perish. It cannot be destroyed. It may be distorted. It has been silenced temporarily. It has been compelled to carry its cross to Calvary s brow but with an inevitable certainty, after every Black Friday dawns truth s Easter morn. Donald H. Tippet
