What a fast, cold month February was. It was a happening month for Aldersgate as we hosted a lovely Spaghetti Dinner for Valentine s Day, as we prepared for Lent that begins this month, as we began the Confirmation process with six middle school students and six adult mentors, as we lifted up our young people as they led Youth Sunday, as we cared for one another, as we served our community, and as we worshiped our Guiding Star and grounded ourselves in our mission and our welcoming statements. Have you seen the constellation our Sunday School children created and the Worship Committee hung in the sanctuary? It is called God s Supportive Home, a symbol of Aldersgate. God s Supportive Home is a good description of the people of Aldersgate. Recently someone shared with me that the first time they attended Aldersgate on a Sunday, they got in the car after worship and said, There is no way it can be like that every Sunday. She had experienced a welcome that she was not used to in church before. She came again and saw that we were radically welcoming and gracious every Sunday. She felt comfort. She felt love. Here at God s Supportive Home, we are entering the season of Lent. Lent is a time of committing to our spiritual disciplines and tends to have a stark feel to it. It is a time of being willing to enter the wilderness with Jesus and journey with Him to the cross. This year, though, we are entering into this time in the spirit of courage and joy, themes that will be explored in worship, the Lenten book study, and Adult Sunday School. My prayer is that as we journey through the wilderness, we can find ourselves embraced by our home in the love of God and one another. Blessings on the journey, dear ones. Be sure to check out the special events coming up this month! You won t want to miss a thing! Love in Christ, +Pastor Melissa

Mountain View/Trinity United Methodist Women The UMW met at the rec room at 1515 Oregon Ave. Louise Flynn and Joyce Clemo were the hostesses. We had lasagna and salad and Joyce provided dessert. Tina Ashley was a big help in prep and serving. Thanks Tina. Carolyn opened the meeting with a reading from the prayer calendar and from Ex.33:7-23. And for our joys and concerns she read "For the Darkness" from the book "Women s Prayers." Most of the meeting was planning for the bake sale which is on March 10th at the church, after services.
