FIRST CHRISTIAN TIMES First Christian Church (Disciples Of Christ) Monday, March 14, 2016 The purpose of this church shall be as revealed in the New Testament: to win people to faith in Jesus Christ and commit them actively to the church; to help them grow in the grace and knowledge of Christ that increasingly they may know and do His will and to work for the unity of all Christians. Address: 601 SW Johnson Ave., Burleson, TX 76028 Telephone: Fax: 817-295-4123 817-295-0750 Sunday Schedule: Chapel Worship 8:00 AM Sunday School 10:00 AM Worship 11:00 AM Website: www.fccburleson.org Office Hours: Mon.-Thurs. 6:30 am-4:30 pm Closed Fridays Learning Center Hours: Mon.-Fri. 6:30 am-5:30 pm Mike Kearns, Senior Pastor Cell Phone: 214-364-6453 E-Mail: pastormike21@hotmail.com Terri Lester, Secretary E-Mail: terri@fccburleson.org Angie Stanton, Learning Center Director E-Mail: angie@fccburleson.org PASTOR MIKE'S MOMENT He Is Risen Indeed! "For I know that my Redeemer lives, and that at the last he will stand upon the earth. -- Job 19:25 Our Lenten season journey on the road to Jerusalem with Jesus continues as this Sunday we observe His arrival in Jerusalem to celebrate the Passover with His disciples - the Sunday we identify as Palm Sunday. Sunday is also the beginning of Holy Week, and I hope you are planning to participate in the activities of worship and fellowship on our church calendar. On Thursday evening, March 24th, at 6:30 pm we will gather in our sanctuary for our Maundy Thursday communion service to share in the bread and the cup remembering the Passover meal Jesus shared with His disciples in the upper room. We will be joined that evening by our brothers and sisters in Christ from New Hope Fellowship. Following the service, we will host a reception in our Family Life Center. On Good Friday evening, March 25th, also at 6:30 pm, we will worship at New Hope Fellowship to remember Jesus death on the cross, and they will host a reception following that service. At 8:00 pm that evening, our 24-Hour Prayer Vigil will begin here at the church. If you have not signed up for an hour of prayer and meditation, please call the church office to see what times are available. And then, on Easter Sunday morning we will gather, first for our Easter Sunday Brunch at 9:00 am in the Family Life Center, and for worship at 11:00 am to proclaim and celebrate together, He Is Risen! He Is Risen Indeed! What a thrill to know that our Redeemer lives! Jesus Christ is just as alive today as He was right after the resurrection. In fact, He is just as much alive today as He was before the crucifixion, and even before He came to earth and was laid in the manger. Our living God knows right where we are day by day, hour by hour, minute by minute. He sees our every need, hears our every cry, and longs to hold us close to Himself. He is present to walk with us through the valley. He provides a song in the night. He takes our feet from the muck and mire and plants them on a rock. He blesses us with hope and gives joy for life s journey. Our God is alive! The joy and the assurance that we celebrate on Easter doesn t end when the Lenten Season is over. Why? Because Christ is alive. So rejoice and live each day with the hope and joy that Easter brings. Walk with Christ. Talk with Him, and allow His joy to penetrate your heart and fill your soul. Don t live in defeat as if Christ is still on the cross, or in the tomb. He is alive! He IS alive! He is ALIVE! I hope you are planning to celebrate with us as we come together as the one body of Christ on Palm Sunday, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday and Easter Sunday. I look forward to seeing you as we join our voices together to proclaim, He Is Risen! He Is Risen Indeed! Blessings and Peace, Pastor Mike
