Notes: IMPORTANT NOTICE: The supplemental resource We Have Neither Silver Nor Gold (http://www.catholiccurriculumcorp.org/units/wehaveneithersilvernorgold2014.pdf) may be implemented and used this year along with the Stand by Me program to assist in meeting the expectations of the 2012 Religious Education Policy Document. Please use the following calendar along with the Grade 7 Year at a Glance calendar from the We Have Neither Silver Nor Gold resource (pages 12-14) to assist you with long range planning.
Believe in Me/Stand By Me Celebrations contained in the program are essential and are tied to the Liturgical Year of the Church and/or themes of the program. They are designed to reflect in communal prayer on the presence of God in our lives. Student involvement in the three phases of every celebration (Preparation, Celebration and Savoring) is crucial to their liturgical formation. As such, preplanning is important for success. Follow the process outlined on pp. 93-95 of the Teacher s Manual to assist you in looking ahead; all celebrations will be listed under the UNIT and THEME column. For important information on the overall content and approach of your program see the introduction at the beginning of your teacher s manual, especially the Scope and Sequence chart pp. 6-10 and The Integration of Components pp. 26-27. * Suggested Scheduling for Religious Education = 4 lessons per week for 30 minutes Important information regarding Confirmation: Initial preparation for Confirmation for this year consists of the Grade 7 and 8 programs: "Believe in Me" and "Stand by Me". Immediate preparation for Confirmation has not been scheduled on this calendar since it is understood to be offered by the parish according to the Archdiocese of Toronto. However, teachers may be asked to be involved in this process to varying degrees. Schools that would like to book a pre-confirmation Retreat are advised to book locations and facilitators early in the school year. It is never too early! For assistance with this and other aspects of Confirmation Preparation, contact your Rel. Ed. Resource Teacher.
