INTERNATIONAL INSTITUTE OF THEOLOGICAL AND TRIBUNAL STUDIES Revised: May 15, 2012 SUMMER WITH THE BENEDICTS The New Evangelization! June 11, 2012 through August 24, 2012 Continuing Education for Clergy, Religious and Laity I.I.T.T.S.: A Unique School of Theology, Ministry, Pastoral Administration, Law and Spirituality
SUMMER WITH THE BENEDICTS 2012 INTERNATIONAL INSTITUTE OF THEOLOGICAL AND TRIBUNAL STUDIES This is the fourth year that we have dedicated our summer courses to the Benedicts. You may ask why we selected the name Summer with the Benedicts. Cardinal Ratzinger chose the name of Pope Benedict XVI, looking to the example of St. Benedict and Pope Benedict XV in order to present his vision of renewal in the Church. Following the mandate of Scripture which calls all baptized persons to renew the face of the earth, Pope Benedict XVI is dedicated to calling all Catholics to a courageous lifestyle that, through prayer and hard work, will lead to the re-christianization of the world. The example of the three Benedicts calls all believers to a life of prayer and study, not as a retreat from the world but as a challenge to live Christian values in a secular world. The goal of the I.I.T.T.S. Summer with the Benedicts is to provide educational opportunities for those who are willing to allow God to create in them a spiritual life that reflects that of St. Benedict, the monk; Pope Benedict, the voice of peace; and Pope Benedict XVI, the proclaimer of a new evangelization based on traditional Gospel values. 2
