November 25, 2012 Morning Class Al Muttaqin Surah Al e Imran Ayah 75 & 76 These two Ayahs together tell the characteristics of two different groups of Ahle Kitab and concludes in Ayah 76 by telling the sifaat of the Muttaqin and the reward which Allah has promised the muttaqin. Surah Al e Imran talks about the Ahle Kitab (people of the book), when Allah mentions Book it means Divine books ( ) revealed by Allah in their original forms; the two famous ones are the (Jews; ) and the (Christian; ) so these two groups are referred to as the people of the book. Page 1

What do these Ahle Kitab used to do which is mentioned in this Ayah? There are two different types of people within these people of the book ( ). (1) If you entrust him with a heap of wealth and require it back he will not hesitate even a little and return your amanat back to you; he is trustworthy and will fulfill his obligation. This type of people are called from ; meaning if you entrust him with a great amount of wealth Will give it back to you (2) The second group of people is the one who is not trustworthy even if he is trusted only with a little wealth - Page 2

If you entrust him with a single dinar - a coin of silver ( ), he will not give it back to you ( ) unless you go back to him demanding & standing over him for your money ( ). He betrays ( ) his promise. This attitude is closely related to taqwa the amount does not matter; what matters is their attitude. They are making differences with different groups of people; their relationship changes with different people. They give an excuse to deal differently with people that unlettered here means illiterate, e, they are being humiliated ( ) by that group and they are exalting themselves ( ). In those days Ahle Kitab used to be very literate and the Arab people were ignorant ( - no reading or writing ) so a group of Ahle Kitab kept their wealth entrusted to them as their right. No documents no evidence so very easily they used to cheat and used to think that there is no harm if we don t give them back their trust, because don t know so it is not haram for Ahle Kitab ( ). Page 3

Allah has made dealing with everyone the same so by distorting these they used to lie against the ignorant people. They are lying against Allah with the knowledge they are having and distorting the facts. Their sins are greater because they are deliberately lying on Allah despite having the knowledge ( ). Ayah 76 Page 4

Ayah 76 is starting with - meaning Nay; when comes before the statement it is the denial ( ) of the statement and when it comes after the statement then it is affirmation ( ). So it is a here that the matter is not like you claim, negating the reasoning of the Ahle Kitab. What is their matter which they claim? ( ) and their claim is that there is no sin on them in the matter of ( ). Their claim is wrong as negated in this Ayah. Allah affirms two things here and the status and reward people acquire if they follow the commands of Allah (1) the one who fulfill his covenants ( ); between him and Allah ( ) and between him and other people ( ); and (2) the one who fulfills his covenants needs a lot of taqwa ( ) with everyone irrespective of age, cast, language whatever acquires the status of Muttaqi whom Allah love ( ). Don t make differences in people when you deal with them and always remember Allah commands regarding fulfilling the covenants and the husn-e-khulq with everyone. So these attributes make a person eligible for the greatest blessing of this duniya as well as the akhira, which is the love of Allah. Page 5

So the description of the muttaqin in this Ayah ones fulfilling their covenants with whomsoever they are making them ( is that they are the ). And the reward of the muttaqin is love of Allah ( ). Page 6
