Please remember to silence your cell phone. RESOURCES FOR HEARING IMPAIRMENT Hearing assistance devices are available for those who have such need. Please see an usher for more information. BECOME A MEMBER OF HBBC Those who desire to join our church may come forward to where the pastor is standing during the Hymn of Commitment. In this season of hope we look to the past and to the future as we await the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. Our theme for this year is Portraits of the King. Each Sunday we will introduce a new banner that reflects the unique portrait of Jesus depicted in one of the four Gospels. Today s banner features an eagle, which is the ancient symbol for the Gospel of John.

UPCOMING EVENTS ADVENT DEVOTIONALS ARE AVAILABLE This year Hayes Barton is offering Advent devotional books to help guide you through the Advent season. They will focus on our new Advent banners and theme, Portraits of the King. Make sure to pick yours up today. They are written to help you prepare for the upcoming worship service each week. It s not too late to get started on our Advent journey. HANGING OF THE GREENS Join us tonight at 5:00 PM for our traditional Greening of the Sanctuary led by our music ministry. Celebrate the majesty of the Advent season with us as we prepare our hearts and our sanctuary for the birth of Christ. LAST DAY TO ORDER YOUR POINSETTIAS Each Christmas we beautify our Sanctuary with poinsettias. You and your family may give one in memory or honor of a loved one or someone who is meaningful to you. Your gift helps defray the cost of the sanctuary poinsettias and of those taken to members served by the home visitation ministry. The poinsettias cost $12 each. A list of donors will be published. Order online at http://www.hbbc.org/poinsettias2018/ or turn in your form with a check (made out to HBBC). The deadline for submitting orders is today. ANGEL TREE We still have a few angels that need to be taken from our Angel Tree. Help us continue to spread God s love this Christmas season with those in our community by taking an angel and purchasing the item listed. Also, if you ve already taken an angel, make sure to return your item by the due date. We look forward to seeing the angels fly away and return in these next few weeks. CHRISTMAS MISSIONS OFFERING Please help us show the world Jesus through our Christmas Missions offering this year. The Christmas Missions offering is an opportunity to bless the world through giving. You can designate your gifts to HBBC Missions, the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering, CBF Global Missions, or a combination of the three. Give using one of the Christmas Missions Offering envelopes or online at www.hbbc.org/give and choosing the fund you would like to apply your gift to. Help us reach our goal of $25,000. CHANCEL CHOIR AND ORCHESTRA WORSHIP Join us for worship on Sunday, December 16 at 11:00 AM for a Hayes Barton Baptist Church Christmas Event featuring choral music, congregational carols, and the symphonic sounds of Christmas. Participants will be invited to reflect on the Portrait of a King -- a new kind of king that changes the world, trades his royal robe for rags, and wears a crown of thorns upon His brow. CHRISTMAS ORNAMENT SALE The Baptist Women will begin their 19th annual Christmas ornament sale next Wednesday, December 5th. They will be at a table outside the fellowship hall from 5:00-7:30 PM. All proceeds go to the HBBC Christmas Offerings. Prices are $3 for one and $2.50 for 2 or more. These make great gifts or package tie ons. FAMILY CHRISTMAS PARTY All families with children are invited to join us for a special Christmas celebration this Wednesday from 6:15-7:15 PM in the youth space as we journey to Bethlehem. Join us as we explore the wonders of the Christmas story. Families are encouraged to RSVP online at www.hbbc.org/family-christmas-party or by emailing Sarah Mears at smears@ hbbc.org. INTERGENERATIONAL NIGHT AND CHRISTMAS DINNER Your entire family is invited to a special edition of our Family Night gathering on Wednesday, December 12. Following dinner, which we ll start serving at 5:00 PM and will feature beef tenderloin, we will enjoy a festive and intergenerational time of fellowship, music and fun.
