Confession and Forgiveness Silence for reflection Blessed be the Holy Trinity, who gathers us in our brokennes and through Jesus Christ makes our fragmented lives whole. Amen In these forty days, let us be honest, confess our sin and receive God s promise of mercy and hope. Lord, we lay down before you the judgement we have cast on others and ourselves. Forgive us. Remove from us all that goes against your will. Free us from our sin so that we may join together to bring about your kingdom of grace and mercy. In the name of the wounded Christ you are forgiven and set free. Thanks be to God. Hymn 9:00 My Faith Looks Up to Thee olivet 4 Continued on next page
Anthem 10:30 My Faith Looks Up to Thee Dan Kallman New Dimension Singers The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all. And also with you. Prayer of the Day Holy Spirit: Thank you for your presence here and now. Open our minds to hear your Word and wisdom. Open our hearts to the needs of our broken world. Open our lives so that we may resonate with you, now and forever. Amen Lesson 1 Peter 2:21-24a For to this you have been called, because Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example, so that you should follow in his steps. He committed no sin, and no deceit was found in his mouth. When he was abused, he did not return abuse; when he suffered, he did not threaten; but he entrusted himself to the one who judges justly. He himself bore our sins in his body on the cross, so that, free from sins, we might live for righteousness; by his wounds you have been healed. *** We welcome children to Dock Children s Education at this time.*** Ensure your child is wearing a nametag with name and grade level. See front of yellow bulletin insert for pickup locations. 5
Anthem Cantique de Jean Racine Lesson Isaiah 53:12 Read in unison Therefore I will allot him a portion with the great, and he shall divide the spoil with the strong; because he poured out himself to death, and was numbered with the transgressors; yet he bore the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors. Gabriel Faure St. Andrew s Choir O Redeemer divine, Our sole hope of salvation, Eternal light of the earth and the sky, we kneel in adoration, O Savior, turn on us your loving eye. Send down on us the fire of your all consuming grace, whose wondrous might dispersed the powers of hell, and arouse our slumbering souls with your radiance, that they may waken your mercy to tell. Apostles Creed I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord. He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended into hell. On the third day he rose again. He ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen Holy Gospel Luke 22:39-46 All (sung): Glory to you, O Lord. Jesus came out and went, as was his custom, to the Mount of Olives; and the disciples followed him. When he reached the place, he said to them, Pray that you may not come into the time of trial. Then he withdrew from them about a stone s throw, knelt down, and prayed, Father, if you are willing, remove this cup from me; yet, not my will but yours be done. When he got up from prayer, he came to the disciples and found them sleeping because of grief, and he said to them, Why are you sleeping? Get up and pray that you may not come into the time of trial. The Gospel of the Lord. All (sung): Praise to you, O Christ. Sermon Wounded Healer Offering And Can It Be? Pastor Sarah Breckenridge Dan Forrest Tim Ackerman, soloist 7
