Bishop Thomas Scott Senior Pastor Dear 34th Street Church, I am excited with expectation to extend to you a personal invitation to an empowering encounter and a creative connection that can change your life and the world around you. This prayer journal is a wonderful vehicle that will assist in transporting you on a meaningful journey with Jesus to personal transformation through inspired intimacy as you commune with God, our Divine Parent, the Creator and Sustainer of life. Yes, you have a special and sacred invitation to join with us on a path to praying with power! Come with us and rediscover how prayer changes things, yes, and how prayer changes people who are empowered to change things. If indeed prayer moves the Hand that moves the world I m anticipating a mighty, even miraculous move of God in your life and in our world. Let us pray. I am praying that this journal will help you to communicate and cultivate your personal relationship with our Heavenly Father. Prayer facilitates making affectionate contact with our Cosmic Companion. May you be lifted spiritually to have a little talk with Jesus knowing that God (Who is Love) has lovingly provided this wonderful opportunity, through prayer, for us to experience God s Divine Presence so that we can know the Liberating Lord Christ for ourselves. Relationships that are healthy grow through experiences and intentional communication. I am praying that through this prayer journal you will chronicle your experiences with the Lord of life and discern the Providential movement and Hand of God in your life while speaking with God who has a plan for your life. Further, I energetically invite you to a spiritual adventure where you will be empowered to live life from the inside out. Dr. Howard Thurman said we are to live our outer lives from our inner sanctuary. Prayer fuels our spiritual formation and transformation. When we connect with Jesus on the main line we are equipped with superior interior resources to handle the exterior forces that would oppress, overwhelm, seduce and sabotage our lives. Prayer equips us to confront and conquer enemies within so we are ready for the challenges in front of us and around us. This year, 2019, as we celebrate our theme The Year of HARVEST I am excited about God moving in our midst. As people of faith we will be challenged to pick up the baton of the drum major for justice and exercise our faith in public. However, we are reminded by Dr King that we must experience God in private so we will be empowered by God in public. Let us pray! Peace and Power Bishop Thomas Scott 2

Fasting brings us into a deeper, more intimate and powerful relationship with The Lord. It is to be done as an act before God in the privacy of one s own pursuit of God. Fasting is to be done with the object of seeking to know God in a deeper experience. When we eliminate food from our diet for a number of days, our spirit becomes uncluttered by the things of this world and amazingly sensitive to the things of God. Prayer can include confession, praise, admiration/adoration, supplication, intercession and more. Prayer is a relationship, where we humbly communicate, worship, and honestly seek God s face, knowing that He hears us, loves us and will answer us. God may not always respond the way we expect or desire. Also, our approach in prayer is important. Our prayers must come often and regularly, not from repetitive duty, but from an unpretentious heart, understanding our dependency on God in every aspect of our lives. Caution: If you are on prescription medication by order of a physician, please seek the advice of your healthcare provider before starting the fast. Listed below are some key factors to remember while we our fasting. Remember to: Pray and stay in God s Word. Drink lots of water. Hold onto your focus and escape temptation. Focus on your fast and its purpose. God will give you grace to prosper/succeed. Play praise and worship music as often as you can. Conserve your energy. Create a place and time for God. Ponder on prolonged meditation and listening. Reframe from idle conversations and social media. Eat a light meal after 6 p.m. fruits, vegetables, chicken or fish. Exclude sweets and caffeine drinks during the fasting period. Start over if you break your fast. Physical and spiritual effects: Hunger pangs may increase and cravings for food, sugar and caffeine. Wisdom begins to intensify. Increased awareness of the Lord s presence. Benefits of a chosen fast: Isaiah 58:6-7 (NRSV) GETTING STARTED To loose the bonds of injustice. To undo heavy burdens. To break the yolk and let the oppressed go free. To share our bread with the hungry and bring the homeless poor into our house. To show compassion and mercy to those who are naked and rendered invisible.. 3

Why we should pray: God calls us to pray. Jesus prayed regularly. Prayer is how we communicate with God. Prayer compels us to partner with God in doing Kingdom work on earth. Prayer gives us authority over evil. Prayer keeps us humble. Prayer gives us the ability to experience God. Strengthens our connection with God and each other. Prayer soothes our doubts and calms our fears. Prayer is for our benefit. Should you pray for your enemy? Yes - Matthew 5:43-44 What can hinder our prayer life? Sometimes we don t pray in faith. Sometimes we pray with the wrong motives and unforgiveness. Sometimes we pray out of habit and not conviction. Things to know about prayer: Prayer is not magic. Prayer does not make ungodly demands. Prayer is not an opportunity to show off. Prayer does not prevent suffering. Prayer is not for God s benefit. Prayer does not manipulate God. 4

INTRODUCTION The Year of HARVEST! 40 Days of Fasting and Prayer Sunday, March 10, 2019 Friday, April 19, 2019 Fasting brings us closer to God. Our hearts and minds must be focused towards God so that He becomes the full source of our strength during the fasting period. As Christians, we are strengthened and renewed....though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day (2 Corinthians 4:16). The fast at 34th Street Church will follow these guidelines: FAST TYPE From Sunday, March 10 Friday, April 19, we will follow a modified Daniel Fast. We will primarily only eat fruits, vegetables, nuts, grains, chicken and fish. We will only drink water and 100% juices. We will refrain from eating meats, dairy, and sweets. (A sample menu is provided to give you ideas on how to structure your meals. There is also a sample menu for those who are diabetic or require an insulin resistant dietary plan). One day every week, select a day when you will participate in a liquid fast by only drinking liquids such as water and 100% fruit juices. Alternative: For those of you who cannot fast because of medical reasons, consider fasting certain types of food (sweets, soft drinks, etc.) or leisure activities such as your favorite TV program and/or social media (i.e. Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, etc.). If you have any health conditions, please seek medical advice from your physician before beginning any corporate food fast at 34th Street Church. HOW TO USE THIS PRAYER GUIDE/JOURNAL Ensure that you understand why we fast and pray as a church family. Are you wondering why we have 40 Days of Prayer & Fasting? To remind or enhance the concepts of prayer and fasting such as: (a) why do we pray, (b) how do I become more comfortable with prayer, (c) what is fasting, and (d) why do we fast as a church family? Read this fasting and prayer journal and it will enhance your understanding why we fast and pray. Read and medicate on the scripture of the day. Each day a scripture will precede the prayer of the day. Open your bible and read the scripture in context. Use reference tools as needed to deepen your understanding. Read the prayer of the day. Each prayer will focus on a component(s) of our renewed vision. Read the prayer and consider how it can be applied to our church or to you, individually. Write in your journal daily. Use a notebook or journal to detail your Christian journey. Document how you feel. Write down how the scripture, prayer, and or theme relevant to our church, or to you individually. Denote your personal commitment. You can reflect on it later to assess your progress. Listen to our Senior Pastor s Monday Morning Meditation. HOW TO FAST SUCCESSFULLY Isaiah 58 Fast a religious discipline; abstinence from food or drink; to afflict the soul Reasons for Fasts 1. For repentance to ward off present or future destruction and to supply a discipline of fasting and prayer (Jonah 3:4 10) 2. To humble ourselves (Psalm 35:13) NKJV 3. For deliverance from demonic possession (Matthew 17:20 21) NKJV 7. Healing (II Chronicles 7:14) NKJV of nations, individual, relationships etc 8. To get extra help and blessings from God (James 4:6) 9. For direction from God (Ezra 8:21) NKJV 10. To Gain control of yourself (II Chronicles 7:14) Humble, seek, pray, and then you can TURN! Different Types of Fasts 1. Partial (Daniel 10:2 3) No meat, certain items but not all 21 days 2. Complete/Total (Esther 4:16, Jonah 3:7) 3. Corporate (Jonah 3) 4. Personal (Matthew 4:1 2) Hindrance to an Effective Fast 1. Wrong motives (Matthew 6:16), Adoration from others, trying to impress God (Isaiah 58:3) 2. Unforgiveness (Matthew 6:14 15) 3. Selfishness (Isaiah 58:3) 4. Continued Sin (Isaiah 58:4) 5. It becomes religious instead of relationship oriented (Isaiah 58:5) 6. Inconsistency (Matthew 7:7) NLT 7. Not having a goal What Happens During a Fast? 1. The devil comes to tempt you and attack you (Matthew 4:3) 2. You lose weight; your stomach shrinks 3. You may get depressed, lonely, etc.. 7

Suggestions for Fasting 1. Set a goal (Daniel 9:3) NKJV 2. Don t make it obvious (Matthew 6:16) 3. Write down the date you start and the date you plan to end and journal results (Habakkuk 2:2) 4. Be patient (Habakkuk 2:3) 5. Start with something you can do 6. Pray when your head or stomach hurts 7. See your doctor before you begin a fast and don t over eat when your fast is over 8. Pray the last 30 minutes of your fast 9. Read the bible or a devotional when you are supposed to eat 10. Resist 11. Children can choose to fast from: sweets; games; phones; television (for a time or in moderation) Why am I fasting? What will I give up, for God, during my fast? Consider joining or creating a fasting team of up to 10 people to encourage each other during this journey. List who will be on your team. Denote how and when you will communicate with one another? 8

PRAYER: THE WHAT, WHY & HOW What is prayer? Prayer is communication with the only true and living God. Prayer helps us to grow spiritually. As we pray we begin to build an intimate relationship with God. Through prayer we appeal to God for his mercy, grace, and love. Why must we pray? God s Word commands us to pray (Luke 18:1, 10:2). Jesus also prayed (Matthew 4:1-2). Jesus who is the Word, who is God, the Creator and Sustainer prayed before every major decision. How must we pray? One of the most important elements of effective prayer is praying to the Father in JESUS name (John 14:13-14). We must also pray by faith, continually, with a pure heart, with thanksgiving, and assurance that our prayers will be answered (Mark 11:24-25) (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18) (Philippians 4:4-7). There is no right or wrong way to pray. Prayer styles vary, and yours is uniquely designed for you. Why do our prayers sometimes go unanswered? Isaiah 59:2 It s your sins that have cut you off from God. Because of your sins, he has turned away and will not listen anymore. (New Living Translation) Un-forgiveness (Mark 11:25) Self-indulgence (James 4:7) Doubt (James 1:5 8) Rejecting God (Proverbs 28:9) Un-confessed Sin (Micah 3:4) Disobedience (Proverbs 28:9) No love or compassion (Proverbs 21:13) Pride (Deuteronomy 1:43,45) Christians do not realize the impact of sin in our daily lives. We have spiritual and emotional barriers to prayer because of our un-confessed sin. For God to answer our prayers we must confess our sins, humble ourselves, seek God, and turn away from those things that are not pleasing to God. (Psalm 65:2) New to Praying: What should be included in our prayers? Although prayer cannot be reduced to a formula, certain basic elements should always be included in our communication with God: Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving, and Supplication (ACTS). 9

ADORATION: To adore God is to worship, praise, honor, exalt him with our mouth, in our hearts, and with our mind. To acknowledge God s Holiness. CONFESSION: We must confess our sins and turn away from our worldly ways. THANKSGIVING: An attitude of thanksgiving to God, for who he is and for the benefits and privileges we can enjoy because we belong to him. We must thank God not just for the blessings, but for the problems and adversities as well. SUPPLICATION: Making a personal request to God for our own needs and on the behalf of others. Prayer is critical and necessary for Christians. As we spend time with God in prayer, he will give us the answers to our questions, solutions to our problems, guidance when in a dark or lost place in life, peace in the midst of a storm, understanding when we are confused, courage when we are dismayed, and faith when we re in doubt. When we pray according to God s will, which is His Word, we can be assured that our prayers will be answered. What will I be in prayer for during this fast? Consider how you will contribute to the vision of our church. How will you enhance your commitment to God and to 34th Street Church of God to further enable the new vision? 10

PREPARING TO FAST Spiritual and physical preparation is vital in sustaining a fast, no matter how long it may be. 1. Proceed in faith! Prayerfully and thoughtfully, fill out the daily reflections of this guide. Choose a prayer partner to stand in agreement with you; this person will be your accountability friend helping you stay on target from dietary and spiritual standpoints. Ask the Holy Spirit for guidance. Be clear and specific about your faith goals in your personal life, family, finances, and church as seen on the next page. These are what you will believe God for during the fast and the entire year. Expect God to answer. Maintain a thankful heart throughout and after the fast. 2. Plan your calendar. Limit your physical and social activities during this period. You need to conserve physical energy and devote more time to prayer and reading the Bible. 3. Prepare spiritually. In preparation for this special time with God, examine your heart and detect any sin not yet confessed. Scripture records that God always requires His people to repent of their sins before he will hear their prayers. In your prayers, confess not only obvious sins, but less obvious ones as well. These may be worldly-mindedness, self-centeredness, spiritual indifference, unwillingness to share your faith in Christ with others, not spending sufficient time in God s Word and in prayer, a poor relationship with your family members, your pastor, or other members of your church. 4. Prepare physically. Be smart as you enter into this fast. Do not go to a buffet restaurant on the eve of the fast, hoping to stock up on food in your body. The key is to gradually prepare your body. Start eating smaller portions and meals even seven days before you begin your fast. Cutting down on your meals a few days before you begin the fast will signal your mind, stomach, and appetite that less food is acceptable. Avoid food that is high in sugar and fast. Two days prior to the fast, eat raw fruit and vegetables only. Consult a physician if you need to. 11

Pray for their personal needs. Try to look at life from their standpoint. What are the worries and joys, pressures and decisions, dreams, and fears that they face? Pray about their spiritual life. What are the things that are keeping them away from God? Pray that God would soften their hearts and bring them to faith in Christ. If you are doing this in a group or with a friend, pray for their five friends also. Pray that the Lord would give opportunities to share His love with them. Believe that these five people will change during the 40 Days of Prayer and Fasting. Select a Prayer and Accountability partner who will join you in this journey to help encourage you and pray with you. 12

HOW TO FAST: Drink plenty of water (8-10 glasses per day). Drink water about 30 minutes before a meal or an hour after a meal. Water dilutes your digestive enzymes. If you have a juicer, great! Begin to drink fresh juice of carrots, apples, etc. at your meals. Great ideas for juice combinations can be found at Health Foods Stores. These are more potent, as they are extracted from the fruit or vegetable. If you don't have a juicer at home, drink 100 juices purchased from the store. It is important that you continue to have three meals per day, along with your juice. This may not feel good at first, but your body will adjust. Select a few days within the 40 that you will not eat at all. Pray and ask for God's strength along the way. Now you are ready for the fast on Sunday, March 10, 2019 - Friday, April 19, 2019. Some sample menus will follow, but be creative. TYPES OF FAST There are three types of fast mentioned in the Bible. The Partial Fast or Restricted Fast means to abstain from certain foods and liquids. Daniel 1:8-16 tells the story of Daniel and how he purposed in his heart not to eat meat or drink wine for a certain number of days. This story illustrates the benefits of this type of fast. The Normal Fast or Natural Fast is the second type of fast in the Bible. This means to abstain from all foods, solids and liquids, except water. Luke 4:1-4, is the story of Christ's fast in the wilderness. Deuteronomy 8:1-3 further emphasizes that the word of God is just as essential as bread (food). The third type of fast is called the Absolute Fast or Total Fast. Since this involves abstaining from all foods and liquids (including) water, it should never exceed three (3) days and should never be undertaken without a clear command from God. This is the type of fast undertaken by Queen Esther, Mordecai, and other Jews as Esther prepared to approach her husband, King Ahasuerus. In Esther 4:14-16, we see the seriousness of the situation confronting her and sense her commitment to do what was required of her. The ultimate fate of the Jews was at stake. MARCH 10, 2019 Prayer Against Violence and Hatred "Here is my servant, whom I uphold, my chosen, in whom my soul delights; I have put my spirit upon him; he will bring forth justice to the nations." Isaiah 42:1 NIV Father of Mercy and Grace, I come to you in unity with my sisters and brothers in Christ. Father, I ask forgiveness of our sins, for we have sinned against you. We acknowledge that we have sinned. God, you said if we would humble ourselves and turn from our wicked ways, you will help us and heal us. God, we seek you for mercy and grace, we need to come to you and humble ourselves. Our world is gripped by the power of sin. It is going to take prayers to you Lord to seek your face with our hearts and minds. Our hearts oh Lord are grieved. We seek justice in a world that is often uncaring and unconcerned. Lord, we thank you that you are a God of justice. We seek you about violence. Because of the violence that is in our homes, and communities Father, we need you. Because of hatefulness and anger, that is in our world, we need you. Lord, you made us so we ask for your Divine touch in our lives. We pray against the spirit of immorality, against neglect and abuse committed against children and those who cannot defend themselves, in our country, city, neighborhood, and our homes. You know what you re doing; and as my Heavenly Father, you know what s best for me! Please forgive me for anything that has caused me to miss your signals. I have sinned and I am sorry. I don t want anything to come between you and me! Forgive me and cleanse me so that the line of communication will be clear and I will, by faith, receive what you say. Now, I ask that you would order my steps and my stops. I want to know and do your will for my life! I have personal desires; and sometime I listen to people, who, perhaps shouldn t influence me. In Jesus Name, Amen. MARCH 20, 2019 Under Construction Put on your new nature, created to be like God--truly righteous and holy. Ephesians 4:24 NLT Lord, thank you so much for how amazing it is to be restructured emotionally and spiritually by reading your word, meditating on them and absorbing them in my mind, my heart and my soul. Lord help me to bring love, forgiveness and reconciliation everywhere I go. As I enter the restructuring process help me to be mindful that it is likened to being under construction. The very words imply everything from delays to messy rooms and traffic congestion. When something is under construction, it s not exactly pretty, or perfect. It s where things get messy before they get beautiful. Lord, thank you that even when my soul is downcast and I have poured out my heart to you, I can be restructured by your presence. Your plans are for us to prosper and not to harm us, plans to give us hope and a future. I pray that your servants the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors, the teachers, and the followers are equipped for works of service in the vision so that the body of Christ may be built up. MARCH 24, 2019 Simple Acts of Service "For I was hungry, and you gave Me something to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave Me something to drink; I was a stranger, and you invited Me in; 36 I was naked, and you clothed Me; I was sick, and you visited Me [with help and ministering care]; I was in prison, and you came to Me [ignoring personal danger." Matthew 25:35-36 NIV & ESV Heavenly Father, I just want to start off by saying I love you, I appreciate you and I trust you. You are a merciful and gracious God that has forgiven me over and over again. I do not deserve the love and forgiveness you give to me on a daily basis and this is why I cherish you as my God and Savior. Forgive me for my sins and shortcomings. Help me, Father, to do better and be better. Help me, Jesus, to be more like you. Lord, I come to you today asking that you help us to do your will and be more of a servant to others. Help us to remember that it is not about us, but your Kingdom. Help us to live by the scriptures and do simple acts of service like feeding the hungry, quenching the thirst of the thirsty, visiting the sick, shut in or those in prison, picking up the phone and checking on our loved ones consistently. Advise us on how to pray for those who are lost and confused. Guide us on how to love more and forgive more, like you love us endlessly and forgive us continuously. Help us not to talk about being of service to others, but doers of services to others. Assist us with not standing on the sidelines and being spectators. Dear God, I ask for your continued direction for your people at 34th Street Church and in the community. Heavenly Father I boldly seek you to give your people a heart to serve you by providing for those who may be in need. Gracious Father, I recognize there's much work to do in your Kingdom. I ask you to prick the hearts of women, men, boys and girls throughout this community. Father, Lead us to those willing to partner with the body of Christ at 34th Street Church of God, to create a community conducive to the needs of your people. Heavenly Father, according to your Word, there is much work to complete in our community, city, and state and throughout this country. You know our thoughts about giving up and giving in, but you have rescued us. You have promised to make our enemies our footstool and to protect us from the enemy of our souls. We are in need of strength and peace, healing and restoration. Cleanse our hearts and minds with your precious oil. Give us hope and desire to live in you. Bring renewal of life and circumstances in our current situation. Bring our heart to yours and help us to receive you. Where will my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth. Psalm 121:1-2 HCSB Lord, I am only moved by your Spirit and your voice and I refuse to follow any other. Increase me in the Holy Spirit and anoint me with your power. Lead me in your paths of righteousness daily that I may bless you, praise you, and worship you. I commit all that I am to you so that your perfect will may be done through me. Fill me as your temple; with your Shekinah glory as much as possible. Holy Spirit, speak to my heart through God s word and prepare me with reverence, worship, and humility. I ask you, Lord, to take out of me, add to me or do to me; anything you desire. John 14:12 HCSB Father God in the name of Jesus, In this process of renewal, I bind Satan, and any ruler spirits assigned against me, and all spirits not of the Holy Spirit. I bind them all from me binding Satan first. I command them to cease their hold on or against me. I break their communication lines and bind their messenger spirits and kindred spirits. I rebuke Satan in the mighty name of Jesus. I cast him out to go wondering in dry places never to return to me or any other living being in the name of Jesus. APRIL 3, 2019 Don t Stand On The Sidelines "For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also." James 2:26 KJV Dear Heavenly Father, Thank you so much for giving us the opportunity to talk to you again. God, you are so amazing, faithful, loving, merciful and kind. You have never forgotten us but we have failed you every day. Lord, we ask that you forgive us for everything we've done. Lord, we ask that you give us a clean heart and renew our mindsets. God so much has happened in the year of 2017 that was depressing but God you have a way of bringing greatness out of it. Help us to let go of things that are not of you. Help us to release negativity, unforgiving spirits, bitterness, depression, fear and anxiety so that can we move closer to you. God help us to get off the sidelines and work diligently within your Kingdom. Remove our selfish desires and replace it with the desires you have for us. Help us to connect spiritually with you so that we can be on one accord to reach those who are not saved. We ask these things in Jesus name, Amen! APRIL 4, 2019 We Value Prayer Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working. James 5:16 Heavenly Father, we are amazed that You the Creator of all would even allow us into Your presence. Your Glory and Power overwhelm us! Your Grace and Mercy are astounding! Please Lord, search our hearts and bring to mind whatever is in us that displeases You. Help us to get rid of it. We lift up all the saints to You today. You know better than any of us, who is in need of Your touch. You are the Great Provider, our Comforter and Redeemer, our Great Physician; and You will direct our paths in the way we should go. (Romans 12:2) KJV Dear Heavenly Father, All powerful and mighty God, I surrender my mind to you. My mind, my body and my soul are all yours for the taking. It is time for renewal because nothing else will satisfy my soul. Show me the beauty of your holiness so that I may walk in grace and forgiveness. Cleanse me with your spirit, let the power take over my heart and give me assurance that I am your child. Renew every fiber of my being; allow it to discipline my soul with passion. I have heard your voice and I want to get to know you better. I want to know your fullness, your glory, your beauty, and your story. I am recommitting myself to you Father God. I give up all control for a peace that I know will surpass all understanding. I want to give you a reconnection of strength and faith which will restore hope for a fruitful prosperous life. Thank you for transforming the dead areas in our lives, those that you desire to be alive, back to life in acceptable use for your glory. We thank you for leading us, Holy Spirit. Psalm 138:3 NLT Dear Lord, I desire to know you better than I've ever known you before!! I want to genuinely seek you in all things. I want to know, understand, and feel your presence like never before. Forgive me for not allowing you to have full control over my life. I've strayed away and my faith has been inconsistent, but you're still faithful. Help me to recommit my life to you in every way possible. Renew my heart, renew my faith, and pour into my life everything that I need to walk boldly into the calling you have for my life. Give me the strength to fully submit every inch of my soul to you and help me to trust you without restrictions. Help me to stop fighting where you want to take control and give me more courage to believe you will do exactly what you said you will do. Help me move from fear to faith so that I may possess all that you want me to obtain in life. I recommit because I realize there is no one else like you. I no longer desire to walk through life without you. Surround me with your love and protect me with your grace and mercy. Remove everything that is holding me back from the new things you have designed for me. Continue growth in the areas that you see fit. Knock down those things that are unhealthy and block all negativity and doubt that comes my way as I draw closer to you. APRIL 10, 2019 Manifestation of The Vision Is Coming "For still the vision awaits its appointed time; it hastens to the end it will not lie. If it seems slow, wait for it; it will surely come; it will not delay." Habakkuk 2:3 ESV Oh, God, Remind us, as believers, that your timing is the right timing. Sometimes you answer our prayers swiftly. Other times your answer is way ahead of us. In Habakkuk's time, the actualization of God's Word did not manifest immediately. Help us to be patient as we work toward the vision of 34th Street Church. We know your Word says that faith without works is dead (James 2:14). Let us work individually and collectively to effectuate the vision. Help us to know our assignment within the vision. Help us to not stray to the left of the right but to walk down the assigned path you have given us. Remind us that manifestation of the vision does not lie only with church leadership but with the body of the church each one of us. Let us not we as individuals be slothful in waiting to get busy in participating in the actualization of the vision. Let us both individually and collectively be quick, deliberate, and intentional, as an act of service, that we are in this together. Let us be reminded that God will not fail us if we wait on him! We have many examples of how man has failed us. But in God's infinite wisdom we are assured he will never fail. God answers the prayers of his faithful people. Let us work and wait patiently on him. Ephesians 5:1 ESV Dear Lord, Thank you for your love, your mercy, and your grace. Thank you for loving us and looking beyond our faults and seeing our needs. We cry out to you that you will hear us and deliver us. Our hearts are broken and our spirits have been crushed. We need you. You are our help and our shield. We humble ourselves before you. We come before you being transparent and honest. We acknowledge our sins. We will not try to cover them up or make excuses. We confess our transgressions to you. We ask you Lord to cleanse our hearts. Renew us by the Holy Spirit. With our whole heart we surrender to you withholding nothing. We commit everything to you Lord, our hearts, our minds, our time, and our finances. We fully dedicate ourselves to you to be used as you see fit. Thank you for your mercy that gives us the opportunity to recommit our lives to you. Thank you for Christ who was crucified for our transgressions. Thank you for forgiveness. Thank you Lord for peace. Thank you for the gift of salvation and eternal life. Our souls rejoice in the Lord and his salvation. When we consider the great things you have done for us with our whole being we thank you. We commit our ways to you Lord. Be our Savior who rules and reigns in our lives, not our will but your will be done. We let go of any and everything that will keep us from being faithful and dedicated to you. We will walk by faith and not by our circumstances. We will study your word and apply it in our lives. We know that you have a purpose and a plan for us. APRIL 12, 2019 Grant Me Newness Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable--if anything is excellent or praiseworthy--think about such things. Philippians 4:8 NIV Dear Heavenly Father, We come to you mostly humbly and thank you for waking us up this morning and letting us see another day. We thank you for loving us in spite of ourselves. We are not worthy but accept your loving mercies and gracious kindness. Cleanse our heart and revive a right spirit that we will not conform to this world but be transformed for your service. Regulate our minds by the Holy Spirit in the innermost parts of our mind, body and soul. Restore in us the desire to do your will and not our own. We surrender God our all to you knowing that we can do nothing without you. God, we pray for the strengthening of our relationship with you that we are operating not in ourselves but in your overall purpose for this world. Replenish what has been depleted in ministry and what the devil tries to steal from us. Revive in us a place of peace and inner joy that will help us through our darkness days. We know whatever our outer circumstances may portray that you are with us through it. We love you with our whole heart and desire only to do what is pleasing to you. Hebrews 11:1-40 KJV To the almighty God, the only true and living God, the only God who spoke and it was. To the only God, who, with the tip of his finger placed the stars, sun and the moon, a never changing God who is the same yesterday, today and forever more. Lord while we are still in your presence, should there be anything that may go before me that could hinder or block my prayers, I pray with a humble heart, mind and soul that you would forgive me for my sins, my thoughts and any actions that were not like you. Dear Lord we thank you for an another new year. I pray that your people will continue to hold fast to the FAITH and continue to believe in the word, your word which is the truth and the true light. Although, we re not perfect. While we are striving to follow, the purpose you have for us, we understand, that we cannot do it alone. With your grace and mercy we can endure the ups and down of life. So thank you for our faith and the belief you have bestowed upon us. May our faith hold strong during our time of weakness. May our belief in you be unwavering. To him belong glory and dominion forever and ever." 1 Peter 4:10-11 ESV Oh, most Heavenly Father, Lord of Lord, Alpha, and Omega, most gracious and amazing God we come humbly before you praising your Holy Name. Thank you, Abba for your "grace and mercy" which are new and abounding every day. That has afforded us the unmerited opportunity to see the year of 2019 and The Year of HARVEST. Oh, most Holy Father we thank you for your loving kindness that never ceases and has allowed us another chance to be "laborers" in your Kingdom. To be an active advocate voice for those who can't or don't have the strength to speak for themselves. Most gracious Father, I pray that we the congregants of 34th Street Church of God will not only be a beacon of light for those lost in their spiritual walk but that we will be that congregant community that reaches out to the impoverished, those marginalized and those destitute and victims of inequality in our criminal justice system. God, I pray that we as your believers stop complaining and have "Flashback Moments" on your goodness and mercy toward us and how you brought us through time and time again. Joel 2:25 KJV Heavenly Father, I humble myself and repent for any bad choices I have made during the years. I ask you to bring full restoration into my life. May the glory on my latter house be greater than that on my former house. I pray 2019 be a year of overflow, break through, restoration, transformation, deliverance, total commitment, refocus, unity, love and unmerited favor, in Jesus name I pray. Psalm 51:6-7 KJV Father God in the name of Jesus, I call this temple cleansed of all of its histories, defilement, and evil residues by any and all previous memories, acknowledging any and all of my sins which I committed. I ask your forgiveness and renounce all sin which defiled my mind, body, and soul. I now anoint this temple and consecrate it to you for your GLORY, and by faith, speak it cleansed and renewed from head to toe by the Blood of Jesus Christ. I declare and decree it cleansed. In the name of Jesus, I pray this prayer in the knowing that it is already done. Amen. APRIL 18, 2019 Search Me, Remove Whatever is Not Needed Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting. Psalm 139: 23-24 NIV God, I adore & love you. You are sweet, loving and amazing. You are everything that I need you to be and for that I m grateful. God search me and remove anything in me that doesn t please, honor, or reflect you. Create in me a clean heart and renew a right spirit within me. God, I desire to be closer to you. I desire to live a life that represents you in everything I say, think, and do. Renew my heart so that I will love as you love. Renew my mind that I will think like you. Renew my spirit that I will stay connected to you. I thank you, God, that you are able to do exceedingly, abundantly, above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us. Thank you, God, that I am renewed in you! APRIL 19, 2019 Intense Strength for the Journey This is the last official day of the Corporate Fast. I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me. Philippians 4:13 KJV Heavenly Father, I come to you with thanksgiving in my heart and a praise on my lips. Thank you God for the opportunity and privilege of prayer. I pray that you would continue to grant us wisdom, understanding, direction and strength as we complete this journey through these 40 Days of Praying and Fasting. Dear God, give us what we need to complete this journey of change, challenge and confrontation. I pray that revival will come in a mighty way and our hearts will be opened to truly hearing and accepting the saving Gospel of Jesus Christ. In Jesus name I pray. Amen. Palm Sunday occurs the Sunday before Easter and represents Christ s triumphant entry into Jerusalem before His crucifixion and subsequent resurrection. Upon entering Jerusalem, the people laid palm branches at His feet and cried out Hosanna! Days later, the same people who praised Him cried out for Jesus to be crucified. They were looking for a savior to save them politically and missed that He was sent to save them spiritually. We can t look to man to save us or to bring us peace from the trouble of this world. John 14:27 reminds us, Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. 35
