Regret and Abortion There are thousands of support groups across America helping women overcome the emotional toll of abortion. However, many pro-abortion advocates still claim that women do not regret their abortions. This flies in the face of both the facts and common sense. But even if their claim were true, it does not make abortion defensible. The famous Nazi, Adolf Eichmann went to his execution saying he did not regret his participation in the Holocaust. Lack of regret goes to the conscience of the person, not to the rightness or morality of the action. If we really want to know the role regret plays in the abortion issue, we need to consider how abortion-minded mothers later felt about the decision they made. What we would find is that for every woman who might say that she regretted giving birth to her child; thousands would say that they regret aborting their babies. Engaged to get married? EUCHARIST TO THE HOMEBOUND Do you know someone who is unable to come to Mass and would like to receive Communion whether on a temporary or longterm basis? If so, please call the parish office at 360-675-2303 to arrange a visit. Do you know that because of privacy laws, hospitals and care centers are prevented from notifying the parish if you are admitted? If you or someone you know would like a visit, please call the parish office. Call Peggy Smith at 360-675-2303 to begin preparations which take six months. Civilly Married & Want to be in a Church Marriage? You may have a Catholic wedding, either with a Mass or not. Or you may have your existing civil marriage recognized by the Church in a process called Sanation, meaning healing. Call Peggy Smith at 360-675-2303 to talk to you about options. Journey of Faith for Adults & For Children 7-17 yrs. A Journey of Deeper Faith & Relationship with God Every Thursday at 6:30 pm for adults in CR1 and at 3:00 pm for Middle School/High School students in the parish office. ~If you and/or your child are not Catholic. ~If you are an adult Catholic who has recently come home to the Church. ~If you want to receive Confirmation or 1st Communion, or want to take a refresher course or have a few questions and are wondering why?? Then consider coming to the Journey of Faith program. Call 360-675-2303 x 5 to register. Protecting God s Children for Adults We can t be with our children at all times, but we can learn ways to help keep them safe when we re not there. All employees and volunteers who have unsupervised, ongoing access to minors or vulnerable adults are required to attend this 3-hour training on how you can help to prevent child sexual abuse. Protecting God s Children was written and developed by Virtus, a program developed by the national Catholic Risk Retention Group. If you are considering helping in the Religious Education or Eucharistic to the Homebound ministry you must attend the training. Training will be held on Monday, October 30 at 6:00 pm in the parish office of St Augustine. In the class you will learn facts and myths about child sexual abuse; how offenders gain access to children; warning signs to look for in children, or adults and actions to take when you notice warning signs. You will need to register online at virtusonline.org, and click on the Registration tab located on the right hand of the page. If you need assistance with your registration or have any questions, contact the parish office at 360-675-2303. (Please note, this training is for those who haven t already attended or if you d like a refresher.)
