CONNECTIONS July 2014 Updates as of June 30, 2014 Roof replacement is in progress. Yes, its getting a little worse before it gets better, but this is how construction projects go. We will be all sealed up and finished soon. We look forward to better efficiency and a secure roof for many years to come. Landscaping is completed and filling in really beautifully. Thank you to the team of church members who served as advisors for the supervision of the project until its completion. Thank you as well to Bob and Linda Koning, Doug and Dawn Schurman who have spent many hours helping to get everything well established with sometimes daily watering of the plants. Worship Arts Director. Our search team is has been meeting to receive applicants, review resumes, and prayerfully consider all aspects of filling this position. The team will begin their interview process in the next couple of weeks. Please keep the team in your prayers as they continue to work through this process. Director of Children, youth, and young adult ministry. Resumes are coming in right now. The team will soon meet and being this process as well. Again, we pray for the Spirits leadership, and your prayers as the team does their work. Custodial Position. We are getting very close to hiring an individual to take over the responsibilities of our building cleaning and coordination of volunteers. We will make an official announcement once we have finalized this process.

Congregational Meeting August 10 11:00am The Consistory would like you all to come celebrate the progress of our Forward in Faith Campaign through a special time of sharing together. Mark your calendars and plan to join the congregation for lunch and a presentation following worship August 10. Pastor of Senior Adult Ministry and Care During the past few years, Trinity has been discerning what God has in store for us. That discernment process became known as Forward in Faith. Forward in Faith has several components including a new staff position, Pastor of Senior Adult Ministry and Care. In February, Pastor Chris recruited a number of people to serve on the Search Team for this position. Team members include Neil De Boer, Pastor Chris DeGraaf, Gretchen Fisher, Sally Harper, Ruth Klungle, Jan VanAuken, Warren Kooyers, Del Kuipers, and Shirley Perez. Beginning February 24, the Team has met on a regular basis. Members gather around a table in the church office. What has the team been doing? Guided by the Pastoral Search Handbook of the Reformed Church in America, the Team first outlined their responsibilities. Then they wrote and re-wrote a job description to define what Trinity wants to accomplish with this position. Once the job description was written and then approved by the Consistory, it was time to recruit. We firmly believe that God has a very special person for this position. How would that person and Trinity meet? The Team again spent time writing and re-writing an advertisement that would speak to Trinity s needs as well as tug at the heart strings of that person God has for us. Once we had just the perfect ad, the question was how / where to post it? Do minister s look on Craig s List to find a position? Would the Holland Sentinel or Grand Rapids Press meet our needs? Ultimately, the internet became the recruitment tool of choice. The position information was posted on approximately fifteen websites including Trinity Reformed Church, RCA, Western Theological Seminary, RCA colleges, etc. Have the desired results been achieved? Twelve individuals responded to these ads! To date, five of these individuals have been interviewed. The evaluation of these interviews continues. Please pray that God will lead the Search Team to the right person for Trinity Reformed Church. Sincerely, Ruth Klungle Search team Chairperson

Missionary Focus Roland and Jane Van Es Jenna and Michelle RCA Missionaries Serving in Kenya Both Roland and Jane teach at St. Paul s University in the city of Limuru, near Nairobi. Roland teaches Bible, Business Ethics and Corporate Social Responsibility while Jane teaches Sociology and Psychology to pastors and mentors the students in an HIV-Aids class. Jenna just completed her junior year at Hope College. Michelle graduated from high school in Nairobi in May. She has been ill since November and it was a real struggle for her to complete all that was required for her to graduate. She has been experiencing near fainting spells, heart palpitations, and extreme fatigue and is suspected of having Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome. The Van Eses are currently in the U.S. for further tests for Michelle and also to determine if she is healthy enough to attend Hope College in the fall or if not, how she will spend the next year. They are requesting prayers for Michelle s health and also prayers for peace and security throughout Kenya and that the fight against terrorism be fought justly. Learn more about the Van Eses and their work by watching their presenta-tion on the computer monitor on our new mission table. To encourage you to get to know them better, there will be a fun quiz on Sunday, July 13, at the mission table and the person who scores the highest will win a gift card to Culvers! This will occur until we have featured all 7 of our missionaries.
