BÊ ù Ê C«Ù Ýã BÙÊ» Ä ÊÙ ã«wêù½ The Eucharist awakens us to our own dignity and to that of others. The Eucharist is a sign of our incomparable dignity as human persons. This dignity, given to all equally, regardless of our social or economic status or where we come from (Jas 2:1-9), causes us to recognize what value each person, our brother or sister, has in God s eyes, if Christ offers Himself equally to each one.... If our Eucharistic worship is authentic, it must make us grow in awareness of the dignity of each person, Pope John Paul II writes (Dominicae Cenae [On the Mystery and Worship of the Eucharist], no. 6).

SOLEMNITY OF THE MOST HOLY BODY AND BLOOD OF CHRIST: OUR BELIEF: THE REAL PRESENCE Clare Colella One of the unique and treasured beliefs we have as Catholics is that at the consecration in Mass, the words of the Institution of the Eucharist at the Last Supper, prayed in our midst, the bread and wine which have been offered to God as our sacrifice and gift, truly become the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ. We believe that Jesus Christ is truly and fully present -- the Body of Christ, the Blood of Christ in both the consecrated bread and wine which we receive. Each time we participate in the Mass, we come into the sacred presence of Christ. Jesus is present in the Word the Scriptures proclaimed, in the priest who offers Mass and prays the words of Consecration in the person of Christ, in the Assembly -- the faithful who are gathered, and in the Eucharist. Our full, active, conscious participation in each celebration of the Liturgy is our testimony of belief in the Real Presence. There is a familiar saying that reminds us that while it takes great courage and deep faith to DIE for your beliefs, it takes even more courage and perseverance to LIVE your beliefs. There are two quotations questions that challenge and encourage us in our beliefs and lives: Father Godfrey Diekmann, OSB, one of the influential leaders in the Church s liturgical renewal, offers this probing and insightful question: What if the bread and wine change and we don t? Our Holy Father of blessed memory, Saint John Paul II, made this statement and asked this question as he reflected on the power of the Eucharist in the lives of the faithful: Millions of Catholics receive Eucharist every Sunday. Why has so little changed? May we take from these holy leaders, and our beliefs, the encouragement to make of our lives a true witness to the Real Presence in the Eucharist and its nourishment for us to be the Body of Christ in the world each and every day. As our Parish honors the Eucharist this Sunday with a procession following 4:30 Mass, may we honor the living Christ in our hearts. TUESDAY EVENINGS: 7:15 8:30: A Biblical Walk Through the Mass Welcome to all! June 9: Introduction: Do You Ever Wish You Could Get More Out of the Mass?
