It is that time of year again. 2018 CSA Prayer Lord, hear our prayer as we seek to be good stewards of the many gifts You have bestowed on us. Give wisdom to discern Your will for us, strength to meet the challenge, and the grace to be steadfast in our commitment to You. Let us use our time, talent, and treasure for Your greater honor and glory. In Your name we pray. Amen What is The Catholic Sharing Appeal? CSA in its origin was a program to fulfill the need for funds at the diocesan level for expenses that extend past the parish or regional responsibilities. To a great extent these are the programs, services and functions that are coordinated from the Pastoral Center and are extensions of the Office of the Bishop. Many of these very programs, such as those coordinated by the Ministries Office and staff are in support of vital ministry in the parish. The administrative divisions of the Church of Pensacola-Tallahassee include the Bishop, Vicar General, Chancellor, as well as Secretariats for Sacraments and Worship, Social Service and Outreach, Catholic Foundation and Development, Education and Formation, Vocations, Evangelization and Mission, and Governance and Finance. By giving funds through CSA, parishioners assist their Bishop and Pastor in carrying out the threefold mission of the Church; teaching, serving and worshiping. Since accomplishment of the Church s Mission is of the foremost importance, there are ongoing efforts to balance income and expense in the Church of /Pensacola-Tallahassee (parish and diocese.) The ordinary weekly offertory is one of the principal factors in determining a proportionate amount of support (parish assessment) from the local parish. In order to meet the parish assessment, funding plans are spread throughout the year. One half of the parish assessment comes from the weekly offertory in ten payments from September through June. The second half of the parish assessment is from CSA in payments made from March through December. CSA also generates money for capital funding, debt reduction and additional services in the parishes and missions. In CSA, parish sharing (return over goal) provides that any money raised through the CSA program beyond the diocesan goal may be retained in each parish. This allows a parish to relate both the diocesan and parish needs in a coordinated effort for stewardship renewal. This is a vital, collaborative diocese-wide initiative, that will benefit us all as a whole church.
