I find the challenge of being Church in today s world both frustrating and fun. Barbara was the organizing pastor for New Day Lutheran in Idaho Falls 2010-2015. She has been involved in a variety of ecumenical activities including organizing and planning the Breaking Boundaries National Memorial AIDS Quilt Dedication Service for many years. She has outstanding organizational, communication, and motivational skills utilized effectively in her role as New Day Lutheran's first pastor and Synod Net-Worker. Her deep faith shines through and is foundational in her work. Barbara is deeply committed to the ELCA at all levels. He served as a voting member from Trinity at the 2017 Eastern WA- ID Synod Assembly. He has been a camper at Luther Heights Bible Camp and participated in the 2012 ELCA Youth Gathering in New Orleans. Juvi's faith in God, love for the local congregation, and interest in the synod and churchwide expressions are all deep. He is one of the most dependable and personable people I know. He would serve our synod faithfully if elected to be a churchwide assembly voting member. Juvi moved to the Treasure Valley of Southwest Idaho from a refugee camp in Tanzania Feb. 10, 2010. Pastor Matt's congregation, Calvary - Post Falls, is actively and successfully equipping, and engaging, lay people from across generations (including millennials) in the daily ministry of the church, including preaching. Matt's ministry includes ecumenical leadership within the Post Falls community, and advocating for local social justice agencies. She is currently serving as chair of the 2018 synod assembly worship planning committee. Prior to coming to EWAID synod, she served congregations in Nebraska and Texas and was Church Relations Director at Texas Lutheran University. She has been a rostered leader in the church since her 1985 consecration as a deaconess. Her deaconess service included parish work as a director of education and youth ministry and medical social work with critically ill patients and their families. She will graduate in May 2018 with a D.Min. in Preaching from the Lutheran School of Theology in Chicago. She and her husband Dave have two adult children. Church Leadership & Participation: Since moving to Washington in Dec. 2012 she has attended all but one synod assembly, She has served two + years as interim pastor to Grace Lutheran in Mattawa, has been active in the cluster, supply preacher for multiple churches, provided home care for individuals near Roslyn, started the Central Washington University Campus Ministry, taught multiple classes at First Lutheran Church in Ellensburg, and since her retirement is supplying for The Episcopal Church of the Resurrection in Roslyn. Rev. Krekling has been this year s co-chair for program planning for this assembly and is providing two workshops at this assembly. Before moving to Washington, she was active in the Southeastern Synod, was Mission Developer of Celebration of Grace in Canton, GA, now a congregation of the ELCA, provided transformation consulting for the SES Synod and numerous churches in that Synod. She volunteered to lead regional training events for Region 9. In her 30+ years she only missed a few synod assemblies as voting member, and attended one ELCA Assembly in Milwaukee. Pastor Krekling is very interested in taking the needs and concerns of the EWAID Synod to next year s Assembly and will do her best to come home ready to share what she learns at the assembly with all of our clusters and congregations in whatever way is desired. Pastor Krekling was an Registered Nurse, earned a BS in Education, A Master s in Service Management prior to Seminary and is a certified provider of the Myers Briggs Type Indicator, and published a journal guide, Treasury of Blessings.

Exec Church Leadership & Participation: I am involved with the stewardship committee, and women's group at Zion. I help to lead worship as an assisting minister and have also led devotional and adult studies. I am currently on Synod Council and the Nominations Committee Chairperson for the Synod. My hope is to help bring unity between all the people and congregations of this Synod, so that we can join hands in sharing the Good News of Jesus Christ.
