The work this year will focus on building a home for a family. This is primarily an adult trip, but there are a few spots available for teens 15 and older who come with a parent. Paying for College Workshop, March 11, 5:30 p.m. Lukas Kersh Wins Scholarship Lukas Kersh has been awarded an Andrew Ethridge Memorial Scholarship for academic year 2018-2019. Lukas is a leader in our youth group and a member of Church Council. He received the Eagle Scout award Sunday, February 11, 2018. The scholarship, awarded by the Oak Grove Community Ministries Foundation of Oak Grove United Methodist Church, honors Andrew Ethridge, a student at Oxford College and Emory University, who died of cancer in 2015. Lukas, a cancer survivor, received the reward in recognition of his love and service to Oak Grove and Scouting, as well as his fight with cancer. Lukas and James Traynelis, a student at Oxford, received awards this year. Dessert Theatre Drama Ministry Stages Mysteries When George wanders on stage and can t remember his lines, the penalty for bad acting is murder. And murder is on the menu when six sweet, elderly ladies are desperate to meet the handsome detective who lives across the street. Join the Drama Ministry as laughs abound, bodies drop, and heads roll in our upcoming evening of Dessert Theatre. Join us March 1 and 2, at 7 p.m. and March 3, at 5:30 p.m. Tickets are on sale Wednesdays, Sundays, and in the church office. $10 includes dessert. Church member Caylee Noggle will lead a workshop Sunday, March 11, at 5:30 p.m. in Grand Hall for people looking for more information on how to pay for college. Caylee is the head of the Georgia Student Finance Commission, which manages the state s scholarship, grant, and student loan programs including Hope. They also manage the state s 529 college savings plan. Topics covered in the workshop will include how to save for college, how to get and keep the Hope scholarship, and how to fill out federal financial aid forms. Everyone is welcome and you are encouraged to invite friends from the community to this informative event.

The team includes 14 volunteers who reach out to church members in times of illness or grief throughout the year. OAK GROVE The Over the Hill Hiking Group returns with more: Hiking Tales From Mountain Trails OVER THE HILL HIKING GROUP Monday March 12, 2018 6:15 p.m. Grab your backpack, walking stick, and put your hiking boots on because we are going to hit the trail that leads to nearly 10 years of adventures presented through twice told tales of the appalachian trail, and beyond. Join UMM in welcoming our very own Clayton Webster, a.k.a, trail boss, along with the support of members of the Over the Hill Hikers Group. They will share stories collected while exploring the beauty of God s hill country. They will bring Georgia mountain barbecue from the famous Poole s Barbecue in Ellijay.
