Revealing The Revelator Tape: E- 57 E. Rome Time: 8 / 8 / 04 11 a.m. Text: Revelation 1: 5-7 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Revelation: V.1 - The Revelation of Jesus Christ which God gave unto him- V. 2 Who bare RECORD of the word of God, and of the testimony of Jesus Christ- V.5 And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness- According to V.5 Jesus was the faithful witness; he was to be the REVEALOR when He came, which He did. Now John was going to REVEAL Jesus Christ by describing Him in verses 5-7. I want to talk about REVEALING the REVELATOR. I. The Revelation Of Christ A. The Marvelous Description 1. The Record Of Christ V.5 And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness- Isaiah 55: 4 Behold, I have given him for a witness to the people, a leader and commander to the people. John 8: 14 Jesus answered and said unto them, Though I bear record of myself, yet my record is true: for I know whence I came, and whither I go; but ye cannot tell whence I come, and whither I go. Revelation 3: 14 These things saith the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation of God. John 18: 37 Pilate therefore said unto him, Art thou a king then? Jesus answered, Thou sayest that I am a king. To this end was I born, and for this cause came I unto the world, that I should bear witness unto the truth. Jesus bear witness of the penalty of sin which was death, which was the reason that he came unto the world to pay the sin debt by shedding His blood. Jesus bear witness that He was God in the flesh. Jn 14:9 He that hath seen me hath seen the Father- John 14: 6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, & the life. Jesus is the faithful witness about the true way to heaven. Jesus is the faithful witness, while Satan is the unfaithful witness, he is a liar, a deceiver. Etc. The Record Of Christ 2. The Resurrection Of Christ 1
V.5 And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead- 1 Corinthians 15: 21-23 For since man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead. For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive. But every man in his own order: Christ the firstfruits; afterward they that are Christ s at His coming. Jesus was not the first to be resurrected from the dead, but He was the first to be resurrected to continue living. Etc. He became the FIRST FRUITS, and because of His resurrection there will be another resurrection one day and all those that have died in the Lord will get up to die no more. 3. The Royalty Of Christ V.5 And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten from the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth- John depicts Christ as absolutely sovereign over the affairs of the world, to which He holds the title deed. He has power to reign and rule. This is the future title of Christ. Proud earthly monarchs have sought, and still seek to rule the world. One day every person will honor Him as king of kings and Lord of Lords. The first time He came; He came to be nailed to a TREE, but the next time He comes; He will come to sit on a THRONE. The Marvelous Description B. The Might Deeds 1. His Sacrificial Love V.5 Last phrase- Unto Him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood. 1 John 4: 8, He that loveth not knowest not God; for God is love. 9 In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him. 10 Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us. And sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins. Romans 5: 8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. The word LOVED in V.5 is really translated LOVETH, which means that He continues to love. Isn t that wonderful, we have a Lord that loveth us at all times? He may not loveth what we do, but he loveth us at all times. 2
2. His Supreme Cleansing V.5 Last phrase- Unto Him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood. Hebrews 9:22 -Without the shedding of blood there is no remission. ( or forgiveness of sin) C. The Majestic Dividends 1. The Majesty Of A Prince V.6 And hath made us kings- We are in a royal family. A Christian will not be respected a lot of times because they are a Christian, but our Heavenly Father recognizes us with dignity. Children of God have a right to hold their head up with dignity in this world. The Marvelous Description The Mighty Deeds The Majestic Dividends 2. The Ministry Of A Priest V.6 And hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father- 1 Peter 2: 9 But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood- Hebrews 10: 19-22 Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus By a new and living way which he has consecrated for us through the veil, that is to say the flesh and having a High Priest over the house of God- let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith. Heb. 4: 16 teaches us that we as priests can go right in the throne room of God at any time with our petitions. The Revelation Of Christ II. The Return Of Christ A. His First Return That Won t Be Seen No one will see Him when he comes back in the rapture to get His bride, the church. He will come as a thief in the night. 1 Thessalonians 5:1, 2 But of the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write unto you. For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night. The day of the Lord commences when the RAPTURE takes place. 3
The first time Christ comes, people on this earth will not see Him, only those that He comes and gets, His BRIDE and CHURCH. 1 Thessalonians 4: 13-18 describes this event. His First Return That Won t Be Seen B. His Final Return That Will Be Seen V.7 Behold, He cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see Him, and they also which pierced Him: and all kindred s of the earth shall wail because of Him. Even so, Amen. His coming will be VISIBLE and VICTORIOUS. Revelation 19: describes this event. On that day people will be engaged in the final follies of Armageddon, goaded on by the beast and his demon guides. Suddenly the armies will be daggled; they will look up; they will see Him. They will fling their weapons down and weep, but it will be too late. Poor Israel too, poor blinded Israel in her last extremity will look up, see Him and be saved. What a day of rejoicing that will be! Conclusion: Revealing The Revelator The Revelation Of Christ 1. No wonder John said in V.6 2 nd phrase- to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever amen. Question: Have you trusted in Christ as your personal Savior & had your sins put under the blood? If not, the Lord loves you today and would like to save you. One of these days, He is coming and if you are not saved you will be left behind to go into the tribulation. If you are saved, are you ready to meet him either by death or the rapture? Amos 4: 12 Prepare to meet God. 5
