Raghavan Rapporteur Seminar on The Philosophy of Ramanuja 4 th to 6 th April, 2016 at Tirupati Rapporteur s Report on The Philosophy of Ramanuja 30.04.2016 Report on 3-day National Seminar on The Philosophy of Ramanuja Sponsored by Indian Council of Philosophical Research, New Delhi and organized by Sri Venkateswara Vedic University, Tirupati from 4-6 April, 2016. The Principal Co-ordinator of this Seminar was Prof. K.E. Devanathan, Vice- Chancellor, Sri Venkateswara Vedic University. Around 43 Eminent Scholars, 30 Research Scholars as speakers and 200 delegates have participated in this seminar. This seminar was Inaugurated by Padmabhushan Sri N. Gopalaswami, IAS (Retd.), Hon ble Chancellor, R.S. Vidyapeetha, and Prof. S.R. Bhatt, Chairman, ICPR was the Guest of Honour, Prof. K.V. Ramakrishnamacharyulu, Former Vice- Chancellor, JRRS University, Jaipur participated as Special Invitee. Prof. K.E. Devanathan delivered the Introductory Address and Keynote Address was delivered by Prof. M.A. Lakshmithathachar, President Samskrti Foundation, Bangalore. During the course of inauguration function, all dignitaries, besides speaking on the greatness of Ramanuja, have expressed immense happiness over conduct of such seminar with galaxy of scholars and attended by large gathering such as this. They opined that such events should be held throughout the Academic Calendar year without losing stream so that our rich heritage is passed on to the generations to come. In his keynote addess, Prof. M.A. Lakshmithathachar said that Almost a thousand years ago the earth was graced by the brightest star in the philosophical firmament of India. This was none other than ĀcāryaRāmānuja: preceptor par excellence, compassion incarnate, and foremost among social reformers. He was a perfect example of an Ācārya who spared no effort to lift up the spiritually downtrodden who had no hopes of spiritual redemption.

The Valedictory Session The Valedictory Session started at 4.30 PM on 6 th April, 2016. In this session Prof. M.A. Venkatakrishnan, Retd. Professor, Department of Visishtavaidtha, University of Madras, Chennai was Chief Guest. Valedictory Address was delivered by Sri U.Ve. Velukkudi Krishnan a renowned scholar in Visishtavaidhta, Chennai on Ramanuja Avathara Vaisishtyam before a very large gathering. Prof. K.E. Devanathan, Vice-Chancellor, Sri Venkateswara Vedic University took the role of President of the Session. Prof. G.S.R.
