As in past years, our faithful living in Parma and surrounding communities are requested to come to the Holy Mystery of Confession on Saturday evening at 4:30 p.m., prior to the 5:00 p.m. Vespers. Those living a distance from the church may come on Sunday morning before the Liturgy. Sick and elderly parishioners who would like the clergy to bring Communion to their homes are asked to phone the rectory. Do not wait for the last week of Great Lent, when the priests are busy preparing for the Holy Week services. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated Memorial Services (Sorokousty) begin, as is the tradition in our parish, on the first Friday of Great Lent, March 18 th, and will continue every Friday throughout Great Lent. If you would like your deceased family members remembered during the service, please notify the clergy. This request must be made annually. The annual Sunday of Orthodoxy Vespers will be held today, March 20, 2016 at 5:00 p.m. at St. Paul Greek Orthodox Church, 4548 Wallings Road in North Royalton. The homily will be given by His Grace, Bishop Anthony, Bishop of the Antiochian Diocese of Toledo. Children are requested to bring Icons and participate in the procession. For more information, contact Fr. John or Fr. Michael. Fellowship and refreshments will take place in the church hall following the service. Parents are requested to bring their children to St. Paul Greek Orthodox Church this afternoon at 4:30 p.m. to participate in the procession at the Sunday of Orthodoxy. Have the children bring their icons, with their names printed on the back. For more information, contact either Fr. John or Fr. Michael Our prayers and condolences are offered ~ ~ to the family and friends of Olga Dobbins, who entered into eternity on Sunday, March 13 th after a lengthy illness. Calling hours will be today, March 20 th, from 1:00-6:00 p.m., with a Parastas service at 2:30 p.m., at the Carlson Funeral Home, 1642 Pearl Road in Brunswick. The funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. from church. ~ to Mr. Michael Kominko and family on the death of their mother and grandmother, Marie, in Virginia. May their memory be eternal! Vichnaya Pamyat! Thank you to everyone who contributed to the Orthodox Clergy of Greater Cleveland s annual Sunday of Orthodoxy collection. Parishioners donated $440.00 to this worthy cause. Please note that at 6:00 p.m. every Wednesday evening during Great Lent, the Liturgy of Pre- Sanctified Gifts will be served. Confession will be at 5:30 p.m. Also remember that, if you are going to receive Holy Communion, you must fast from food and water from 12:00 noon. As always, those who take medication and require food and water are exempt from the fast. If you have any questions, please contact Fr. John or Fr. Michael. During the 5 Sundays of Great Lent, the Liturgy of St. Basil the Great will be served. The noticeable difference from the Liturgy of St. John Chrysostom is the longer prayers that are recited by the clergy. Last Sunday, our Ukrainian community of Parma celebrated the life of the Great Poet of Ukraine Taras Shevchenko. Over 300 people attended the concert in our parish center. Our Ukrainian School, which has an enrollment of 190 students, gave an outstanding performance. We congratulate the children and thank the teachers for preparing them for the program. Great Lent is coming to an end for Western Christians and our Pyrohy group has been working very hard throughout Lent. Volunteers are needed for 2 days this week. Please see the schedule of events for the days and times of work. Please make this project a part of your schedule, if only for a few hours. This is the final week before the Latin Easter

HELP!!! Parish Fish Fries will end this coming Friday. As usual the hours are 4:30 7:30 p.m. Over the past few years, we have received many compliments on our Fish Fry. Please volunteer to continue this tradition by helping on Friday. We cannot do it without your help. Also, please invite your family and friends to our Fish Fry. CELL PHONES ARE TABOO IN CHURCH! Our Ukrainian Orthodox Church does not permit musical instruments in church. In keeping with this tradition, your cooperation is requested. Unless you are a doctor (MD, not PhD), please turn off your cell phone when entering the church. Thank you for your cooperation. A young woman in our parish is looking for employment, beginning in April, that could include office and domestic work. For more information, please call (216) 258-8094. A family in Parma is in need of a man who can give assistance to a Ukrainian man who is suffering a disability due to a stroke. If you or someone you know is interest, please call (216) 741-2187. We are in need of someone who can do remodeling work on our parish houses and we are looking for people in the parish to do this. Anyone who is able to help can contact either Michael Jogan or the clergy, who will pass on this information. Have you ever caught yourself saying I wish our Church would? Well, a group of faithful have been hard at work these last few months on transformational changes that will impact our Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the USA, and every parish within it. Everyone is invited to our Sobor this fall (you don t have to be a delegate) to hear about the Diocese s strategic plan for the future of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, and take part in break-out sessions to discuss specific goal areas. Come see what we have been up to in South Bound Brook. Friday, October 21 st is dedicated entirely to discussing the strategic plan. See Mark Host for more information or contact him via email at markhost@sbcglobal.net. The Metropolitan Council of our Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the U.S.A. formed a Strategic Planning Committee, comprised of both clergy and laity from the entire Diocese. This committee is working to assist parishes develop their own programs, such as youth, charity, education, administration, finance, etc. Their findings will be presented at the upcoming Sobor in October. Working on this program from our parish are: ProtoDeacon Ihor Mahlay, Helen Greenleaf, Mark Host, and Melanie Nakonachny. For years, Nadiya Savchenko has been unjustly held in a prison in Russia, along with other prisoners. The Nadiya Savchenko Foundation is organizing an event to raise funds to arrange a support and the lawyer defense of 28 Ukrainian Political Prisoners who have been unlawfully arrested and, due to wrongful court sentences, are jailed to the various terms in the Russian Federation s prisons.
