Birthday greetings go out this week to Pani Matka Anna, who celebrated her birthday yesterday and to Emily Nakonachny, who will celebrate her birthday tomorrow. Mnohiya Lita! Greetings are extended to all men named Andrew / Andriy and women named Andrea, who are celebrating their Patron Saint s Day today, December 13 th and to all women named Katherine / Kateryna on their special day last Monday, December 7 th. If you would like a family member to be greeted in the bulletin on the occasion of a birthday or an anniversary, please phone the rectory no later than the Monday before you wish it to appear. On Saturday, January 16, 2016, our parish will be sponsoring a Julian Calendar dinner dance - Malanka Zabava. It will begin with cocktails from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. followed by a dinner at 7:00 p.m. The menu choices are beef, chicken or salmon. There will be a late night buffet after 10:30 p.m., as well as continuous entertainment, raffles, a photo booth and more. Music will be provided by Harmonia. The cost of the tickets is $75.00 per person and includes dinner, an open bar, entertainment, late night buffet and dancing. Advance ticket sales only. Please notify the clergy if a family member is admitted to the hospital. Remember only the Parma Hospital notifies the clergy of any parishioners admitted and then, only if the parishioner registers as a member of St. Vladimir s. Also, parishioners who would like a home visit are asked to contact the clergy and make their wishes known. Make plans now to attend and invite your family & friends to join you. 2015 is rapidly coming to an end. All parishioners are requested to pay their parish dues of $160.00 per adult member. Keep in mind that $100.00 of this amount is sent to our Diocese in south Bound Brook, NJ, as was decided at our Church Sobor. The balance of $60.00 remains in our parish. That is why it is important to use your weekly offering envelopes to help maintain the work of the parish. Next Sunday, December 20 th, at the 8:30 a.m. Liturgy, all youth, together with their parents, are invited to receive the Holy Sacraments of Confession and communion in preparation for Christmas. The Liturgy will be bilingual and youth who normally attend the 10:15 a.m. Liturgy are encouraged to attend the earlier Liturgy. St. Nicholas will visit the
children in the parish center and a delicious breakfast will be served. Confession will be at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, before Vespers, and at 8:00 a.m. on Sunday. Bethlehem Peace Light Once Again Arrives in Parma! On Monday evening, November 30 th, for the 8 th consecutive year, the Bethlehem Peace Light arrived at our parish from New York City via Vienna, Austria from the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem. It will remain lit on the Tetrapod until Theophany, January 19 th. The Peace Light first came to the United States in December, 2001, following the attack on the Twin Towers in New York city. It now travels across the country, ending in Seattle, Washington and south into Texas, then Mexico. This year, 3 representatives from Toronto, Canada, were also present when the Light arrived in our parish. Everywhere that the Peace Light is taken, the following is spoken: We receive this Light as a message of Peace to everyone May all those who accept this Light pass on that Peace. Attention Pyrohy Workers: We will be making pyrohy twice this week on Wednesday and Thursday. Please refer to the schedule in the Calendar of Events for the week. These will be the last times that we will make pyrohy before Christmas. New volunteers are always needed and welcomed. Thank You!!! ~ ~ to our choir director, Markian Komichak and our dedicated choir members for representing our St. Vladimir parish so beautifully during last Sunday s Pan-Orthodox Nativity Concert at St. Mary Romanian Orthodox Cathedral in Cleveland. This year 8 choirs performed and, as always, our choir was the largest. ~ ~ to everyone who assisted in making the UOL Christmas Craft Fair such a huge success. The cooperation of both League members and parishioners was outstanding and all the food was sold. Plans are currently being made for our traditional Carol Sing-Along, which will be held on Sunday, January 10 th, between Liturgies. Parents of children who are interested in participating in the program are asked to register with Fr. Michael, ProtoDeacon Ihor or Volodymyr & Oksana Logvynyuk. Rehearsals will begin shortly.
Poinsettia Tradition Continues at St. Vladimir s A beautiful part of our Christmas celebration is the over 100 poinsettias decorating the Lord s Temple. These flowers remind us of our departed loved ones who are in our hearts at the Christmas season.
