ALTAR SOCIETY LUNCHEON TODAY ALL ARE INVITED The Altar Society is hosting a luncheon to honor and thank Anka Ludwig for her 20+ years of service as President of the Altar Society. We will be serving a menu inspired by some of Anka s favorite foods, especially desserts! There is no set charge for the luncheon, but we would ask that you consider making a gift to the Beautifully Restless Tracy Heidenfelder Memorial Fund in memory of Anka s granddaughter, Tracy. Checks can be made payable to Beautifully Reckless. We will also be hosting a raffle with proceeds to also be donated to help Beautifully Reckless carry on Tracy s legacy by providing scholarships and the No Bad Hair Days wig program for young people battling cancer. We hope everyone here will join us in the Main Hall for a very special afternoon honoring our beloved PresidANKA! THANK YOU! A huge thanks is extended to Magda Matlak, Stephanie Salony, Joanne & Lorraine Medvecky, Bogdan, Danuta, Olga, and Alexander Horbal for cleaning out and organizing the Candle Room last Sunday. There is still a lot of organizing to be done, but a lot of progress was made. Also, we kindly request that items, bags, etc., not be dropped off in the office, #2 Hall, or any other room in the church for eventual retrieval at a later date (with the exception of items donated to the Flea Market and left in the Choir Room). If we do not know who it belongs to, it will be thrown out. Thanks also to Justine Timko, Paul, Lauren and Helenka Tymus and John, Matthew and Kim Busel who made sense of the Flea Market donations and made it possible to walk through the Choir Room without stepping on or tripping over one of our treasures to sell. DATE FOR MAKING PIROHY Saturday, March 16th - 8AM at the church. We need a lot of hands (all shapes and sizes). If you can help, please contact Magda Matlak. Since the Altar Society will be purchasing a very large double freezer, we are hoping to make enough pirohy that will last for the entire Lenten period. You don't need to know how to make pirohy to sign-up. We need packers, dishwashers, and clean-up crew as well. This will allow the experts to concentrate on making those delicious pirohy. PIROHY ORDERS FOR LENT Order forms will be available shortly. They will be on the table outside of the office and in future bulletins. UPCOMING TRIP America's Cowboy Country - August 20-27, 2013 Space still available up until March 20. After that, it will be based on availability. For more information, you can pick up a brochure and reservation form on the table outside of the office or by e-mailing Stephanie Salony - stephanie.salony@comcast.net or calling 908-284-0561

February 8, 2013 Glory to Jesus Christ! Dear Father, I would like to take this opportunity to invite you and your faithful to participate in the Sunday of Orthodox Vespers that will be celebrated on Sunday, March 24 th at our St. John the Baptist Orthodox Church, located on 145 Broad Street in Perth Amboy. The service will begin at 4 PM. We will be honored that day with the presence of His Grace, Bishop Gregory of Nyssa, who will be the guest homilist. Bishop Gregory is the new Ruling Hierarch of our Carpatho-Russian Orthodox Diocese, and this will be a wonderful opportunity for the clergy and laity of our Central Jersey area to hear him preach the Word and to meet him informally in the Fellowship Hour in our Church Hall that will follow Vespers. On this day when we celebrate the Church s victory over the iconoclasts, it will also be our spiritual privilege to have with us a Myrrh-streaming Icon of the Theotokos that has been emitting this fragrant myron for well over a year at the St. George Carpatho-Russian Orthodox Church in Taylor, Pennsylvania. Father Mark Leasure will bring the icon and have it available for veneration that afternoon. Note also that we will have a Combined Choir singing the responses to Vespers. George Hanas, our choir director, has scheduled two rehearsals: Sunday, March 3 rd and Sunday, March 10 th at 1 PM in Perth Amboy. Kindly let your choir members know that they are welcome to be part of this special choir. Looking forward to seeing you on March 24 th, I remain Sincerely yours in Christ, Father Michael Rosco Each week, you see this little blurb asking if you or someone you know may want to be a part of ebulletin list of people who receive the bulletin on the Friday before the Sunday Liturgy. Here is what it means to those who are not with us each week: although we are so far away, St Nicholas church is close by in our fond memories and loving hearts, so, thank you for keeping us informed.. cookie (Elaine and Charles Bily) Do you like to be in the know? 115 people already are! If you would like to have the St. Nicholas Bulletin delivered to your email each week (normally by Friday), please send an email to: k.busel@att.net with the email address(es) you want to receive the bulletin. We are hoping to save a few trees, print a few less bulletins and get the word out more efficiently. You will need to have Adobe Acrobat Reader. WANT MORE? Thanks to Megan and Paul Sikoryak, St. Nicholas Church has a Facebook page. Visit us at: http://www.facebook.com/#!/stnicholas10street and Like Us. You have to have a Facebook account to participate (or your kids do and maybe they can share!). STAY TUNED>>> We are in the process of working on a new type of food drive to begin during Lent. In the meantime, we appreciate all non-perishable foods to be placed in the large container located in #2 Hall.
