[I] Don Juan Maria de Ripperda, Baron de Ripperda., Colonel of Cavalry, Governor of this Province of Texas, its missions, conquests and frontiers, Commandant of its Armies and Captain of the Royal Presidio of San Antonio de Boxar [state the following]: Don Juachin [Joaquin] de Orandain, Second Lieutenant and paymaster of this company of San Antonio de Bexa.r retired from duty, being replaced by Second Lieutenant don Bernardo Fernandez. The soldiers and corporals elected Manuel de Urrutia, Sergeant Second Class (provisional) as proxy of this company by a plurality of votes. The three subaltern officers [of the company], the capellan (provisional), and,the mentioned Sergeant Second Class, proxy of this compa.ny, met together in my presence today, August first of the year seventeen hundred and seventy-seven, in this Royal Presidio of San Antonio de Boxar. Lieutenant don Juachin [Joaquin] de Orandain, paymaster lv of this Royal Presidio of San Antonio de //Bexar retired from duty, and, in fulfillment of that which was decreed by His Majesty (whom God guard) in Title Fourteen, Articles Nine, Ten, and Eleven of the royal regulations [issued on the tenth of Septeniber of the year seventeen hundred and seventy-two, the following was done]. At [the] home of the Senor Governor, acting as Captain Commandant of this company of San Antonio de Bexar, and in his presence, [there met] together the three.subaltern officers of the [company], the Father Capellan (.provisional), and Sergeant Second Class Manuel de Urrutia, as proxy of the same company, in order to name one of [the] said officers as [the company's] paymaster. Second Lieutenant Bernardo Fernandez having acquired all of the votes, by common consent we named him paymaster of this company. As such, he will receive the funds from the late paymaster, Joaquin de Orandain, and he will go to San Lu.is Potosi every six months to present his appointment and our poder before the senores royal officers of those funds. [He is to] ask for the monies that His Majesty has vouchsafed to assign to this Royal Presidio of San Antonio
13. de Bexar for the payments, [the] daily pay allowed to soldiers, [the allowance to officers for expenses, and [the] other aids, pertaining to the cited company. In accordance with [the said royal regulation] we qualify the before-mention.ed Bernardo Fernandez for the 2 space of //three years, during which, for its continuation, this appointment and.o p der must be ratified. At present we confer [this appointment and p o der] upon him by common consent for the cited time, with all our authority, in order that with it he may collect the appointed sums, giving the correspondent receipts, which will be valid and admitted as such in the same office,where he will regulate the situados. All of this should be approved by the.senor Commandant Inspector of the internal presidios of this Kingdom.
