JEFF L. BARBIERI 1380 E. Oregon, Cell: 517-902-5869 Email: jeff@ogdenchurch.org M I N I S T R Y P H I L O S O P H Y The most prominent term used in Scripture to describe God s leaders is that of a shepherd. With the current emphasis on business models in pastoral circles, I am first and foremost committed to the shepherding of souls. While there is a functional overlap between a chief executive and a pastor, the fuel that drives each of them is ultimately an affair of the heart. The executive seeks to make the church a well-oiled machine where people become a means to an end. The shepherd, however, seeks to create a loving community where the Savior is the means of their love. You cannot mechanize love for people nor can you raise mature disciples in a microwave oven it takes time, patience, and vigilance. As a faithful pastor my goal is to walk alongside a community of people for an entire generation; entering into deep fellowship and worship, preaching and teaching through the entire Bible, serving one another, leading moms, dads, and children to Christ in their living rooms, and visiting people when they are hurting all to create a culture where people are willing to go to the ends of the earth to see God s glory displayed and proclaim the good news of the gospel. M I N I S T R Y M I S S I O N A N D V I S I O N I have an intense desire to be a catalyst for spiritual life change in men and women from all walks of life. My commitment to Christ is to be a leader among His people on this journey. This is a life-long challenge founded upon Christ s commission to His disciples, both then and now. I believe the first step in shepherding an existing flock is to establish trust with the sheep. People have to know that their pastor loves them and has their best interest at heart before they are willing to buy into a vision for the future. My first commitment as a pastor is to radically love, lead, feed, and protect the flock. Then, with a strong foundation, my vision is to raise up and unleash a mature community of believers; men and women who are confident of God s character and attributes, who manifest the life of God in their souls, who persevere in suffering, who have a missionary heartbeat, and who possess a powerful sense of the greatness of God which causes them to worship and serve their Savior. P E R S O N A L B A C K G R O U N D Childhood: Conversion: I was born on February 16, 1968 in Dallas, Texas, to Louis and Carol Barbieri. I grew up in a strong Christian home with loving parents who taught me about the Lord and His incredible love for me. At the age of eight, through the faithful instruction of my parents and Sunday school teachers, I realized my sinfulness and need of a Savior, Jesus Christ.

Marriage: Children: Calling: I met my wife, Tamra, while we were both serving at a Christian summer camp. From our first date I began to pray that the Lord would bless me with a wife like Tamra. The Lord answered my prayer and we were married on June 23, 1990 in Dallas, Texas. Tamra and I have been blessed with three wonderful children. Our twin girls, Jenna and Laura are eighteen years old. Jenna will be a freshman at Moody Bible Institute and Laura will be a freshman at Cornerstone University. Our son Jake is fifteen and will be a high school sophomore. After approximately ten years in the corporate world, the Lord began to fill me with the desire to serve Him in full-time ministry. While my work was satisfying and rewarding, the passion in my heart was to invest my time, my energy, and my whole life into things of eternal significance. Though I was unaware, the Lord was in the process of filling Tamra s heart with the same passion at the same time. Being firmly established with a career and family, such a calling seemed overwhelming. The Lord patiently continued to lead us through much prayer, study of His word, and wise counsel. As we began to step out on faith and pursue seminary training, the Lord showed us in amazing ways that if we would follow Him in obedience to His calling, He would surely go with us! He began to make-a-way when I thought there was noway! What I perceived to be barriers to such a calling, we watched the Lord break them down before our eyes. My time in seminary brought further confirmation and deeper commitment to His calling to serve Him full-time in the local church. S P O U S E P E R S O N A L B A C K G R O U N D Childhood: Conversion: Education: Ministry: Tamra was born on October 25, 1966 in Dayton, Ohio, to Mac and Dolores McKnight. She grew up in loving Christian home with her two older brothers. When Tamra was nine years old, at Vacation Bible School, she recognized her need of a savior to forgive her of her sins and reconcile her to God. It was at this time that she placed her faith in Jesus Christ alone to save her from her sins. Throughout her life she has continued to grow in her obedience and love for the Lord as He has taken her through valleys and mountains all the while strengthening her faith. Graduate: Tamra graduated from Dallas Theological Seminary in May, 2008 earning her Masters of Biblical Counseling. Undergraduate: Tamra graduated from Southern Methodist University in Dallas with a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology in 1989. Tamra currently serves as a LLPC Christian Counselor at Restoration Counseling, where she provides biblical counseling services that are distinctively Christian. She also created and teaches a Bible class at Lenawee Christian School that explores God s view of marriage and family. In addition to her counseling and teaching responsibilities in the community, Tamra also serves in the church through leading the women s ministry, Titus Woman for MOPS, teaching Precept Bible studies, and regularly singing on the worship team. She has taught youth and adults in Bible study for over 20 years. During her seminary training, Tamra was also the Chair of the Dallas Theological Seminary Women Student s Fellowship (WSF) for a year and a half. She provided leadership to the WSF board whose purpose was to provide opportunities for the women students to authentically engage in relationships of encouragement, support, and accountability (Hebrews 3:13). Other responsibilities with WSF have included: retreat chair

for the annual fall retreat, creating and implementing new programs for WSF, and speaking at a DTS Chapel sponsored by WSF.
