The Dunya and some of the Desires The دنيا as a temporary place: It is designed to be a place of distraction. We get distracted because our نفس contains desires for some of the ه و ات ش in this.دنيا Knowing the reality of all of those ه و ات ش which affect us is a way in which we can attest defend against them.

Some Wealth: Types of pleasure from wealth: Desire for it, impressed with its quantity. This person is extremely well dressed - Showing off through the wearing off luxury items. Studying consumer culture: Bourgeois and conspicuous consumption. A recent phenomenon in which the acquisition of luxury goods was used to separate between social classes Children: Types of pleasure from having children: Taking pride in their appearance, their successes. Sadnesses and disappointment in their underachievements. Our kids are doctors, engineers, has this many houses. His wife/husband is so good looking Taking pride in commanding and maintaining power and authority over them. Kids will generally be under the command of their parents امانة Both wealth and children are not attained but given as an

Happens in speech, wearing clothes, teaching, learning, in worship, giving charity

عافية The nine parts of the من صمت نجاء: The hadith of This is not meant to be taken as continuous silence. There is a hadith in which the prophet (saw) prohibited silence from the morning till the evening Some people try and fast because they want to follow example of Maryam who fasted from speech This type of silence, speech fasting was allowed and encouraged in the previous shariah, of bani israel But if someone takes this fast, he will not say dua or reading Quran.

عافية The nine parts of the ايسر العبادات الصمت It is important to note that unintended periods of silence is not an act of worship, there needs to be an intention Eg: If someone has a temptation to drink alcohol, and abstains an offer then he is rewarded. Someone who has no temptation in himself is not the same Same for speech. Silence will not be considered worship unless you abstain with intention So if you are offered the opportunity to boast, backbite, mock and you abstain whilst maintaining silence this is a worship It is easy to see why it is the easiest worship because besides having an intention there is no other action required other than silence The concept of intention here is powerful, because it means actions taken for Allah are worship

Seven thousand good deeds This is Mawlud taking a statement of a wise man who once said there are seven good things in being silent, each one carrying 1000 good things: 1. Silence provides a fortress without need of walls: Silent one has no enemies. No walls needed because no enemies 2. Beauty without need of adornment: People who are silent will be known as having a special type of beauty. He does not need to say anything and this beauty is recognised 3. Rest for the noble scribes: The angels write every action. Words are actions. Silence means they get to rest 4. Reverence without need of power: Normally reverence requires power. The silent one does not need to apply power to get reverance 5. A veiling of faults: Covers your sins and the sins of others. An Arab saying that if you stay silent you cover your faults and your mothers faults 6. Worship without Work: ايسر العبادات الصمت Goes back to the hadith of Not being in need to apologise: The one who speaks offends people intentionally and unintentionally. Being silent means you don t need to apologise in both cases

Summary Silence is a way to fast from sin ذ اك ر We need to be a community that is The one whose heart is full of شهوات and is busy ذكر is removed from شهوات fulfilling those تصبيح is not just making ذاكر Being It is acting like a ذاكر in all actions and following the prophets example
