Edtor s Message Wth the completon of the present ssue (41 42) of the (IJE), I wll retre my duty as the IJE edtor after servng n varous edtoral postons for 23 years and havng edted, as Edtor-n-Chef, 16 volumes and approxmately 3500 pages of the journal. I do ths whle we have a strong edtoral board, and I am passng on the throne to Dr. Yar Ben Dov, who has agreed to act as Chef Edtor at least for Volume 43. IJE has always been the most mportant outlet for publcatons that deal prmarly wth taxonomy and faunstcs of the nsects of Israel, although artcles focusng on other aspects, such as ecology, bology, behavor, physology, and pest management, were frequently ncluded. As such, IJE s a prmary source of knowledge on the entomofauna of Israel. The current ssue s an approprate example, contanng several artcles that together lst 666 speces, many of whch have never before been recorded from Israel. Wth an estmated 15,000 speces of nsects n Israel, ncludng about 5,000 that have never been recorded from the country, our task s far from complete. To date, ca. 500 speces new to scence have been descrbed n the varous volumes of IJE, the great majorty of whch are from Israel. I take ths opportunty to thank all those people who served wth me as edtors, some as edtor-n-chef, others whle I was edtor-n-chef, some both. I am also grateful to the typesetters, producers, and colleagues from the Department of Zoology n Tel Avv Unversty who helped to produce a better journal. Fnally, I thank the numerous anonymous revewers who have done a marvelous job for IJE. Wthout ther help we could not have reached the hgh scentfc standards of our journal.
