IT S NUT CUTTIN TIME AMERICA! THE MOMENT OF TRUTH HAS ARRIVED FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Sometimes serious, at all times humorous and filled with satire, It s Nut Cuttin Time is written by someone who just doesn t comment on politics from the bleachers, but who was actually in the arena for over 25 years. It s Nut Cuttin Time is an insightful look at the last four years in America, discusses the 2012 election and what lies ahead. It takes aim at the preening politicians of both parties and also takes a swing at our self-indulgent celebrityobsessed pop culture. Patrick Dorinson is a modern day Will Rogers with sharp elbows who s had an insider s view of the political system having been on both sides of the aisle and as he likes to say, in the aisle itself. He now is a proud independent and paraphrasing the words of Marx Groucho not Karl says he will not join any political party that would have someone like him as a member. His unique political journey has been a search for real leaders, regardless of party, to move America forward but says in frustration, I have chased more false prophets than the ancient Hebrews in the Old Testament. He says he is still searching and doesn t expect the 2012 election will end his search.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR Patrick Dorinson is a veteran of the political wars, radio talk show host and commentator who unlike many socalled pundits, has actually been in the arena and has the battle scars to prove it. He has been on both sides of the aisle and in the aisle itself, having worked over the last 25 year for Republicans and Democrats in both politics and government. He likes to say that wisdom comes from experience, most of it bad and like others before him his political and life philosophy has evolved over the years. Through it all he has come to consider himself a Libertarian Conservative who believes in limited government in all things and the basic right of all Americans to live their lives as they see fit as long as they abide by the laws of the land. Or put another way, government should keep their hands off the public s wallet and their nose out of folk s private lives. Patrick Dorinson is a columnist for the FOX News.com Opinion on the FOX News website and regular contributor to The Arena on POLITICO the #1 political website in the nation. He is the resident political analyst for Clear Channel s Newstalk 1530 KFBK radio in Sacramento, California. He also appears regularly as a commentator on local television. Mr. Dorinson has appeared on Sean Hannity s Great American Panel on the FOX News Channel and on Cavuto on the FOX Business Channel as well as on FOX News.com webcasts He is host of weekly radio talk show, The Cowboy Libertarian with Patrick Dorinson. It airs Saturdays from 5 to 6PM Pacific on Newstalk 1530 KFBK. Dorinson lives on a 15 acre ranch in Nevada City, California, is an avid student of the West and a pretty fair horseman. And he knows that when learning how to ride, the ground is the best teacher, having the broken bones to prove it. He enjoys working and riding alongside his friends in the ranching and cattle business whenever he gets the opportunity. And if he had his druthers and could find an outfit to hire him he would make his living on the back of a horse.
SOME OBSERVATIONS OF THE COWBOY LIBERTARIAN ON POLITICIANS: Politicians are as useless as a one-legged man in a butt kickin contest. ON ETHICS, VALUES AND CHARACTER: If you think America s fiscal and financial deficits are bad they aren t half as bad as our ethics and values deficits. The Ten Commandments are now the Ten Suggestions and they are optional. ON THE NATION S CAPITAL: Washington is 68 square miles surrounded by reality. ON HOLLYWOOD: 30 square miles of unreality surrounded by more unreality called California. ON THE EVER ENCROACHING NANNY STATE: Life has risk. We can t legislate, regulate or litigate our way out of every problem. ON THE PHONY ISSUE OF FAIRNESS : Life isn t fair and it s not the government s job to make it so. ON GIVEAWAY GOVERNMENT PROGRAMS: Government never gave anyone anything. They steal it from someone who earned it to give to someone who hasn t. If you re looking for a helping hand start by looking at the end of your own damn arm.
AND SOME ADVICE FOR THE NEXT PRESIDENT ON GETTING THE ECONOMY MOVING AGAIN: Start by holding a bonfire on the White House lawn and throw in all the volumes of federal regulations and the tax code and maybe use a few economists for kindling. ON REFORMING CONGRESS: Congress should only meet for 6 months out of the year. How to accomplish this? Shut down the air conditioning in the summer and the heat in the winter in the Capitol building and all the congressional offices. Let them go find honest work the other 6 months or more likely stand in the unemployment line with the rest of America. ON CUTTING THE BUDGET: Create an Elimination Commission made up of regular folks from across America whose job it will be to eliminate entire departments, agencies and programs that cost too much for little or no return. All agencies and departments will have to appear before the Elimination Commission and justify why their department shouldn t be eliminated. They will have 20 minutes to make their case.
SUGGESTED INTERVIEW QUESTIONS DESCRIBE YOUR UNIQUE POLITICAL JOURNEY? At 12 years old I was a Goldwater man and I voted for Reagan twice. When I got into politics I worked for both sides at different times searching for a real leader like a Reagan who would fix what needed fixin and get done what needs gettin done. I am still searching. ARE THERE ANY HONEST POLITICIANS? The only honest ones are dead. WHAT ARE THE MAIN PROBLEMS WITH OUR BROKEN POLITICS TODAY? In a nutshell, the media, the 24-hour news cycle and consultants. Politics is covered today like sports on ESPN complete with panels of experts to dissect every play and we are bombarded with cattle crap all day long on cable TV. Ideas never get a real hearing and gotcha issues dominate. And consultants created the permanent campaign so they can make money during the non-election years. DOES IT REALLY MATTER WHO WINS THE WHITE HOUSE IN 2012? Not really. It is only a choice of who will take the country to Hell the slowest. A great man once said, Democracy should be more than two wolves settin down with a sheep to discuss what to have for supper. Eventually the sheep will get shorn and then eaten no matter who wins. YOU WRITE A LOT ABOUT ETHICS, VALUES AND CHARACTER. ARE THOSE QUALITIES STILL RELEVANT IN ELECTING LEADERS IN THE 21ST CENTURY? They should be. I am always amazed that Congress has ethics committees. Members of Congress consult the committee to find out if something they want to do is ethical or not. If you have to ask it isn t. Any organization that feels the
need to have an ethics committee has no ethics. And we seem to have forgotten what our mothers told us that character is what you do when no one is looking. If a politician will lie to his wife do you think he will tell you the truth? WHO ARE YOUR HEROES? First my parents who taught me the difference between right and wrong and impressed it on my backside when necessary. However I was a quick learner. As far as public figures go, Barry Goldwater, Ronald Reagan, John Wayne and every cowboy, cowgirl, rancher, farmer and clock punching working stiff who get up every morning and go to work to provide for their families and keep this country moving. WHAT DO YOU SEE IN THE NEXT FOUR YEARS? My crystal ball is very cloudy on the future. If it was a weather forecast, I would say batten down the hatches and get ready because if you thought the 2008 fiscal and financial storm was bad, the next four years will make that look like a summer shower. IS THE MAINSTREAM MEDIA AS BIASED AS REPUBLICANS AND CONSERVATIVES SAY IT IS? It definitely is from what I see. They are so in the tank for Democrats and Obama they ought to draw a bonus check from the Democratic National Committee. My guess is that if Obama is re-elected they will finally ask the tough questions and trash him just to prove they aren t. ARE AMERICA S YOUTH PREPARED TO FACE THE FUTURE THEY WILL INHERIT? They don t have a clue about the future much less prepared for it. Most of them couldn t find their way home if you took away their phones with GPS. But at least they will have free birth control and gay marriage while they settle in to the poor house their parents bequeathed to them.
