Fall is in the air and another year will soon be coming to an end. Thanks to everyone who has volunteered and worked to keep this the premier neighborhood in Topeka. Please put the Annual Meeting on your calendar and attend if possible. If not, please see the Proxy form enclosed in this newsletter and use it. There are four proposed changes to the Association ByLaws. Please call or email if you have any questions regarding these. We will also be electing three new officer positions and we need to fill the Grounds Committee Chair and would like to identify a Chair for the 34 th Street Entrance Improvment. We also have the annual budget to vote on. There have been a lot of changes and improvements in and around the neighborhood over the last few years. Wanamaker is a five lane road past our east edge and there is a new sidewalk along 37 th Street. The work done and coordinated by the grounds crew at the 37 th Street entrance, the traffic circles, and along Wanamaker, shows that we are not just maintaining the status quo, but actively improving the aesthetics of the neighborhood inside and out. Our Social Committee and others have hosted a number of events including a very successful National Neighborhood Night Out. We have a lot to be proud of here. As we move forward, it is time again for change in the leadership of the Association. The President, Vice President and Secretary positions are being filled at the October meeting. Please support those in these positions and consider volunteering now, or in the future. There is much that remains to be done improvements to the 34 th Street entrance and fence among others. I sincerely appreciate all of the Board members and their dedication. A special thanks to those that are finishing their terms - Jeff Sorensen, Deacon Oroke and Jane Fowler. I have seen here, as it is most places, that for each opinion, there is usually an equal and opposite one. For those who disagree with the actions or directions this Board has taken, the opportunity for you to serve, and influence future direction, is certainly available. Tim Gerhardt Website Did you know that Shadywood West Homeowners' Association has a website? Point your browser to www.shadywoodwest.org to find all the information you might need about our neighborhood, including officer and block captain contact information, past newsletters and meeting minutes, maps, and a copy of our current restrictions and bylaws. We also have a blog at www.shadywoodwest.blogspot.com. If there is ever have a story you would like posted, please notify me at mattandjenn17@gmail.com. And if you would like to be a regular contributor to the blog, I would be happy to get you set up for that as well. This is your website. Let me know if you have any feedback or ideas for improvement. Respectfully, Matt Harader Page 2
