The situation in Venezuela and our brothers and sisters in the churches there. Although we are not there because of political situations, we hear from many. Recently, one of the young men who we worked with 16 years ago in Puerto Ayacucho, died tragically. He had gotten away from the Lord. Bad influences, choices and drugs landed him in jail. Last week the government ordered that all the prisoners in Puerto Ayacucho be executed. We have heard this has been ordered nationwide for all prisons. This is a sad situation for families who have loved ones being held without a trial. His name was Anderson Rojas. He was 20 years old. 2. Pray for the believers in Caicara del Orinoco, where we have worked for the last 14 years, from the Piaroa Tribe of Indians in Venezuela. Pray for the Jorge Rodriguez family who is caring for our house and the church property, and the Guillermo Tovar family, the Piaroa missionary. 3.Pray for healing... I, Sandy, recently slipped in the shower, visiting at our son's home, and fractured two ribs. The doctor said it would take 4-6 weeks to heal the fractures. I am still under an oncologist care monthly for my excess platelet disorder for which I am on daily medication. Praise the Lord, after my fall, they did a CT scan of my abdomen and there were no lacerations of my kidney or liver which could have further complicated things. 4. Clear direction in our work for the Lord and our role in the situation in Venezuela and what we can do from here. Recently the tin roof at the back of the church building was stolen. The men are putting up a stronger fence around the property and taking some measures to prevent more theft. Of course, we are sending funds for these things as they have no way to do them with the collapse of the economy. (Minimum wage right now is at 5 dollars a month). 5. Praise that my Mom is better, although unable to manage medications, housework or drive, but not bed fast and has been able to attend church. With love and appreciation, Melvin and Sandy Morris melvin@arn.net NO DRINKS OR FOOD IN THE SANCTUARY.
