Minutes of Meeting held on May 15, 2013 Meeting was held at Ludovicum Council Hall in Bucktown and hosted by Ludovicum Council 4663. Rosary was started at 7:45 PM. The Warden checked all for their membership/travel card. Meeting was opened by Metro President Donald Winchester and a prayer was said by Metro Vice President Dennis Cass at 8:02 PM. Motion to approve the minutes was made by voice vote. PRESIDENT S REPORT: President Winchester thanked all for coming to the meeting tonight. Tonight we will have nominations for the Officers for the Columbian Year 2013 2014. We will have nominations at this meeting and at the meeting on June 19, 2013 where we will have nominations from the floor and the election at Christ the King Council in Terrytown. TREASURER S REPORT: Financial Report for the month of April 2013. Balances on April 30, 2013: General Fund $702.18; Restricted Fund $4,452.26. Total checking $5,154.44. Income for the month of April was $75.00. $25.00 was for dues and $50.00 was for the Nuns Build program. A Total of 17 Councils and Assemblies have paid their dues. Please ask your Council to include in their budget funds to go to the Nuns Build. Any amount would be appreciated. Knight can explain and pass on to the new Grand Knight the bill. Metro has already received the dues for the upcoming year from St. Christopher Council and E. D. White Council. BILLS & COMMUNICATIONS: No Report. SEMINARIAN REPORT: BY BROTHER STEVE HART, STATE CHAIRMAN: As of now we have collected around $18,000 for the Seminarian Mission Fund. As you can see funding is very important for the seminarians to go on these summer trips. You still have until June 30, 2013 to get your Council s money in for the Mission Fund. If you get it in after that date, it will be used for the 2013 2014 Columbian Year. MDF FUND: BY LLOYD J. MEYERS, STATE CHAIRMAN: For the past 17 years Councils in the State of Louisiana have contributed a total of $5,571,771.00. Last year alone, 99 Councils contributed a total of $359,000.00 to the MDF. Remember, Councils must submit their donations to the State MDF program for the State to get credit. Donations made directly to an organization will not count for the State program. We would like every Council to go through the State because it would be audited. DUES BILLING: Please ask your Council to pay their dues in a timely matter. If your Council has not paid their dues please bring your Council s check, in the amount of $25.00, made out to KC NEW ORLEANS METROPOLITAN CHAPTER, to the next meeting on Wednesday, June 19, 2013. COUNCIL REPORTS: Those Councils Present at Tonight s Meeting. Council 1437 Marquette (New Orleans): On Friday, May 17 th Trivia Night will be held. Doors open at 6:00 PM. There will be a cash bar with bar snacks. However, guests are welcome to bring food to share with others. Open to family and friends. On Saturday, May 18 th there will be a work party at the Deaconates Ordination reception at the Ursuline Convent. The Council will set up, help the caterers, clean up and take down after the function. Again, on June 1 st there will be another work party at the Ordination to the Priesthood. We will do the same thing as we will do on May 18 th. All are welcome to come out. Runs from about 9:30 AM to about 2:00 PM. Council 2878 No Report. Fr. Seelos (Metairie): Council 3246 Edward Douglass White (Metairie): The Council will hold a 4 th of July party for Special Children who go to summer school. There will be hot dogs, etc. All Councils are welcome to help. The Council will once again sponsor the RUNNING OF THE SILVER ROSE. This will take place in the fall in conjunction with our Quarterly Communion. Council 3729 St. Dominic (Lakeview): On Saturday, June 15, 2013 at 10:00 AM, will be the Flag Day Ceremony on the neutral ground at the corner of Harrison Avenue and Vicksburg Street in Lakeview. Refreshments will be served in the Council Hall, 6254 Vicksburg Street, following the flag raising. All are invited to attend especially the Color Corp of the Honor Guard of the 4 th Degree. The Honor Guard is requested to be there at 9:30 AM. Council 4663 Ludovicum (Saint Louis King of France Parish (Metairie): On October 4, 2013 Norwegian 7 day Cruise out of Quebec City. Prices start at $877.00. On May 11 th Annual Mother s Day with Rosary. Also held was Bonco; May 15 th Feed the People 160 People were fed at St. Joseph s Church. May 17 th annual Clergy and Ladies night. May 19 th Boy Scouts Spaghetti meal. May 29 th American Legion Band will perform. On June 8 th will be a Rosary March. Bonco will also be held. On June 9 th will be the Quarterly Communion. On June 19 th will Feed the People. Council 6872 Oscar J. Gelpi (Picayune): Brother Bryan Cassagne spoke of having the Metro Chapter tour the Saint Bernard Project a month earlier this year. This way Councils will have an extra month to speak to their membership about the SBP (NUNS BUILD) and hopefully collect extra funds to help support the work of the Nuns who come down here to help rebuild the homes that were destroyed during the storms. In fact the July meeting, of the Metro Chapter, will be held on Wednesday, July 17, 2013 at 8324 Parc Place, Chalmette, LA 70043. The tour will begin at 6:00 PM sharp and will go over high lights of the past years events, number of rebuilds, etc. After the tour there will be a DUTCH TREAT dinner at Rocky & Carlos in Chalmette. Council 8546 Msgr. Bezou (Saint Francis Xavier Parish, Metairie): Clergy appreciation night coming up soon. On Saturday, May 18 th there will be a Major Degree in Mandeville at Mary Queen of Peace. Sunday, May 19 th there will be a 4 th Degree dress out for the Blue Mass at St. Catherine Siena at 11:00 AM. In July the Council will sponsor an event with God s Special Children. Waiting on the approval from the Archbishop as to the date so he can attend. Council 9007 Bishop Caillouet (Saint Angela Merici Parish, Metairie): On Sunday, May 12, 2013 (Mother s Day), at the 6:00 PM Mass, our Pastor, Father Ken Hedrick, celebrated his 40 th anniversary of Ordination to the Priesthood. It was well attended with 3 Archbishops, 1 Bishop and 29 priest and deacons in attendance. On Saturday, June 1, 2013 at the 4:00 PM Mass there will be a celebration to mark the beginning of the of the 50 th anniversary of the founding of Saint Angela Merici Parish (June 1964). In attendance will be former Pastors, assistant Pastors, Nuns and deacons who have been associated with the Parish. On July 1, 2013 Saint Angela Merici will have, for the first time in ten years, a new Pastor. He will be Father Clayton Beau Charbonnet. This will be Father Beau Charbonnet s first Pastoral assignment. Council 9415 Maria Goretti (Saint Maria Goretti Parish, New Orleans): On Saturday, June 15, 2013, at 4:00 PM Mass there will be a Flag Day Ceremony with a social to follow. Also, we still have raffle tickets for the 51 Flat Screen TV. The raffle will take place at the social. The address is 7300 Crowder Blvd., New Orleans, LA 70127. Council 12529 St. Jane de Chantal (Abita Springs): On May 19, 2013 from 12 Noon to 4:00 PM, in St. Joseph Hall, there will be a crawfish boil. $5.00 per person. On Saturday, June 8, 2013 at 6:00 PM, the installation of Officers for the Council, Ladies Auxiliary and the 4 th Degree, will take place in St. Joseph Hall followed by a banquet. COUNCIL 12686 St. Catherine of Siena (Metairie): Blue Mass on Sunday, May 19, 2013, at the 11:00 AM Mass. This will be a 4 th Degree Dress Out. COUNCIL 15676 Mater Dolorosa (New Orleans): Brother Ronnie Seaton is a member of this new Council. The Council has 31 members. Brother Ronnie asked all members of Metro to come out and help support the new Council. Brother Ronnie said that since there is not a 4 th Degree Assembly in that area that one could possibly be formed. ASSEMBLY 2921 St. Maria Goretti (New Orleans): Sponsoring a TV raffle for $1.00 donation. The prize will be a 51 Samsung Plasma HDTV. The drawing will take place on Saturday, June 15, 2013, after the 4:00 PM Mass at St. Maria Goretti Church. Winner need not be present. The purpose of the raffle is to purchase swords and white capes for the Past Navigators and a white cape for the incoming Navigator. NEWS FROM SUPREME Supreme has stated that Councils will receive $9.00 for every new member that is recruited from January 1, 2013 thru June 30, 2013. A $9.00 credit will be given to the Councils beginning July 1, 2013 to be used anyway they wish. Alhambra works with Special Children and one of the Caravans, Darrow, is celebrating its 100 anniversary. This Saturday, Darrow Caravan will feed about 150 children at Our Lady of Divine Providence. Please pray for our new Pope Francis. Remember him in your daily prayers. Please remember all our Brother Knights and Ladies Auxiliary who are deceased and sick in your prayers.
