If you put an elephant by the side of a whale, it would look like a cat but for its shape, whales are huge and heavy giant. The largest whale, the blue whale, grows about a hundred feet long and some of them weigh more than a hundred and twenty tons, while an elephant weighs about seven tons. A whale eats two or three tons of food at a single meal. If whales eat so many tons of food at each meal, you may wonder how there is any food left in the sea for us to catch! But the oceans are vast and not all whales eat so much fish. The blue whale eats so much fish. The blue whale lives wholly on Plankton. A stretch of plankton, as you know, is spread over miles and miles of seawater. Now, answer the following questions. 5 1 = 5 (a) What are the largest animals in the sea? (b) Which sea animal would look like a cat? (c) Which whale grows about a hundred feet long? (i) Black whale (ii) Dolphin (iii) Blue whale (d) On what does the blue whale live wholly? (i) Fish (ii) Zoophyte (iii) Plankton (e) Choose the correct one among the following statements based on the information given in the above passage. (i) Whales are huge and heavy giants. (ii) Comparatively an elephant is a tiny creature. (iii) The blue whale is the smallest whale. 3. Read the following passage carefully. Once, there was a mouse that had his hole near a pool in a thick forest. A frog often came out for basking in the sun. Within no time, they became buddies. But the friendship of a frog and mouse is highly undesirable because the frog's home is in water and the mouse on land. One day the frog said to the mouse, "let's bind ourselves together with a string so that we may never get separated." The mouse agreed. So, both tied themselves together leg-to-leg. Though on land, it went quite well, but in the pool, it was tragic for the mouse. The frog swam about delightfully in the pool dragging the mouse with him. Soon, the mouse drowned and his body floated on the surface of the pool. An eagle hovering in the sky saw the dead mouse it swooped down to carry it off. Up went the frog as well and became the eagle s meal. Now, arrange the following jumbled sentences in sequential and meaningful order. (a) Both of them spent very happily on land. (b) When an eagle carried the dead rat, the frog also went up and lost its life. (c) But in the pool, the rat drowned and floated on the surface.

(d) One day the frog and the rat tied themselves together leg-to-leg so that they may never get separated. (e) A rat and a frog became friends. SECTION B Creative Writing 4.
