Anchor Watch at Lighthouse Saturday, April 14 th 5:00 8:00pm Anchor Watch is the official name we have given to our new Respite Care for families who have a loved one with special needs. On Saturday evening, April 14th, Lighthouse Church will become a beacon of hope for these families in our church and community. The parents and/or caregivers of loved ones with special needs (Buddies) will have an opportunity to bring both their loved one and his/her siblings to our church from 5:00 8:00pm. We will team up a volunteer with each Buddy, feed all of them pizza for dinner (yes, siblings too), have a brief devotion/ prayer, and then encourage them to explore several types of rooms in the building (including a Quiet Room for people who are sensitive to sight and sound). There is no cost for this evening; nursery will be provided for children up to three years old, ages four and up will join in the activities. Since this is the first time we have done Anchor Watch, we will be limited to the first 20 Buddies who sign up. You may sign up your Buddy (and siblings) at the Welcome Table on Sunday mornings. This allows them to replace or buy any needed items and avoid duplicated items. Saturday, March 3rd 7:00-10:00am Lighthouse Church (1402 E 303rd St) Freewill donation. THE LIGHTHOUSE BEACON Page 6 Easter Schedule The next Beacon newsletter will be published on Thursday, March 15th, 2018. Deadline for all articles will be Friday, March 9th. Thank you in advance for your help. MOVIE RECOMMENDATION The Lighthouse National and World Outreach committee would like to encourage you to take this opportunity to see the two hour movie Tortured for Christ. It will be shown in several theaters in Overland Park, Olathe, and other locations in the KC area and Lawrence on Monday, March 5th. Spring is fast approaching and Easter is right on its heels. As we watch new life burst from the soil, it reminds us of the new life that was given to us through the crucifixion of our Lord Jesus Christ. Let s celebrate Holy Week! Sunday, March 25: Palm Sunday (Children will do a palm processional) The first day of Holy Week is known as Palm Sunday. In Jesus time, when Romans were victorious in battle, citizens traditionally threw palm branches in the returning hero s path. So when Jesus rode into Jerusalem, it was appropriate that he receive a hero s welcome. Thursday, March 29: Maundy Thursday Service 7:00pm - Service of Holy Communion (Nursery will be provided) On Maundy Thursday we commemorate Jesus Last Supper with his disciples in the Upper Room. It was this Passover night that Jesus gave the Mandate to Love one another as I have loved you. Maundy is Latin for Mandate. Sunday, April 1: Easter Sunday 7:30am - Worship Service @ Lighthouse Church (outside) 10:00am - Worship Service @ Lighthouse Church On Easter we celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ. We rejoice that he was raised from death and that he is alive today, tomorrow and forever. On Easter morning, (if you are an early riser) come and join us at our Sunrise Service at 7:30am. This is held in an outdoor setting at Lighthouse Church. With this beautiful setting we will have singing, acoustic music and a simple worship. Bring a lawn chair and a blanket. No nursery provided. If weather acts up, we will move inside to the sanctuary. At 10:00, at Lighthouse Church, we will have our traditional Easter service. Nursery will be provided during this time. Everyone is invited. Spread the good news and ask family and friends to worship with us. The Voice Of the Martyrs movie is a film made from a book of the same name, authored by the VOM founder, Pastor Richard Wurmbrand. He tells the story of his 14 year imprisonment and torture in a communist prison after being taken from his home in Romania as they tried to break his Christian faith.
