The Grapevine March 2015 News for the parishes of the Carlford Benefice An invitation to be a pilgrim in the footsteps of Christ October 2015 Have you ever wondered what it would be like to visit some of the places that Jesus knew, wanted to see Jerusalem or wished you understood more about Israel & Palestine? I have been to the Holy Land three times & on every occasion I ve loved it & returned enriched & inspired which is why I want to share the experience with others! So in October this year I am leading a relaxed pilgrimage to the Holy Land to walk in the steps of Jesus and turn the black and white text of the Bible into a colourful personal experience. We will explore together the beauty of Galilee s lake shore & the drama of multicultural Jerusalem we will celebrate communion & share worship in some very special places as we follow the story of Christ from the announcement of his birth to his resurrection! In Galilee we will visit Nazareth where Jesus grew up, Capernaum, the fishing village that became the centre of his ministry & the Mount of Beatitudes with its beautiful views of the lake. There will be time to enjoy the peace of the Sea of Galilee too. The pilgrimage will take us on to stay in Bethlehem with time to explore the nativity stories at the Church of the Nativity & Shepherds Fields & to experience life behind the wall and support the work of a Christian orphanage. Jerusalem is a city steeped in history & faith, colour & conflict. The walk down the Mount of Olives to Gethsemane & into the old city is beautiful. Walking the Way of the Cross to Church of the Holy Sepulchre is very moving & I love re-discovering old Jerusalem. There will be time to visit the Garden Tomb & the markets, climb up to St Peter in Gallicantu and recover with a wallow in the Dead Sea. We will leave from Luton on Monday 12 th & return on Tuesday 20 th October. The cost is 1695 including flights, accommodation & entry fees. I have led quiet days & prayer walks, appreciate the world around me & enjoy poetry, walking & encouraging spirituality of others. Please ask me questions & let me know if you are interested, brochures with more details are available 01473 785251 or allthealls@tiscali.co.uk. This is your chance to make an awe-inspiring pilgrim journey, among friends to a fascinating country. 1 Jane Hall
