Opening Hymn Joyful, Joyful Joyful, joyful, we adore Thee, God of glory, Lord of love; Hearts unfold like flowers before Thee, opening to the sun above. Melt the clouds of sin and sadness; drive the dark of doubt away; Giver of immortal gladness, fill us with the light of day! All Thy works with joy surround Thee, earth and heaven reflect Thy rays, Stars and angels sing around Thee, center of unbroken praise. Field and forest, vale and mountain, flowery meadow, flashing sea, Singing bird and flowing fountain call us to rejoice in Thee. Thou art giving and forgiving, ever blessing, ever blessed, Wellspring of the joy of living, ocean depth of happy rest! Thou our Father, Christ our Brother, all who live in love are Thine; Teach us how to love each other, lift us to the joy divine. Bless your Creator, all animals of the Lord. We give thanks to God for all Creation. Bless your Creator, all birds of the air. For all Creation, we give thanks to God. Bless your Creator, all creatures of the sea. We give thanks to God for all Creation. Bless your Creator, all children of God. For all Creation, we give thanks to God. Prayer for Creation Let us pray. Almighty God and Creator of life, you made the universe with all it s marvellous order, its atoms, worlds and galaxies, and the infinite complexity

of living creatures; Grant that we, who celebrate this day the mysteries of your creation, may be inspired by the witness and work of your servant Francis of Assisi. And may we be granted the grace and the wisdom to clearly recognize your holy and sacred Image in the power and beauty of Creation itself; we ask this in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. First Lesson Genesis 1:24-31 Psalm 100 - said responsively Sing to God, all creatures. Worship God with great joy; Praise God with the Sound of your voices. And know that we all belong to God, God is our source and our home. Let us enter God s light with thanksgiving; Let our hearts be filled with God s praise. For God s goodness is beyond comprehension, And His love endures forever. Amen Gospel Matthew 6:25-29 Reflection Prayers of the People Let us give thanks to God our Creator for the many gifts we have received: for the richness of the mountains, plains and rivers; for the power and beauty of all Creation the seas and skies and all that is in and beneath them We thank you, Lord. For all that is gracious in the lives of men and women: kindness, compassion, and the recognition of our connectedness to all Creation; We thank you, Lord. For the songs of birds and the beauty of flowers and trees; for all creatures that breathe, and move, and have life;

All: We thank you Lord. For the trust you have shown in giving into our care these holy creatures; We thank you, Lord. That each animal here may be treated always with kindness and respect, and treasured with care; We thank you, Lord. That we may continue to grow in our grateful enjoyment of your beautiful and living Creation, and in our understanding of the sanctity of all life; To the honour and glory of your name, now and forever, we pray to you, Lord. In the name of God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. One God, Creator of all, now and forever, world without end, Amen. Our Father, who art in Heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil, for Thine is the kingdom, the power and the glory, forever and ever, Amen. The Blessing of the Animals Hymns are found in this bulletin and will be announced during the service All: The Blessing Prayer Almighty God, creator of all that is, seen and unseen, to you be all praise and honour and glory. All things belong to you alone. We praise you and give thanks for the animals, birds and fish, which fill your world. May we forever show respect to all Creation. May we forever think of your Love and give you thanks as we live with, play with, and care for our pets always being grateful for the happiness and joy they bring into our lives. Grant each of us grace

Amen and wisdom, that we may be kind and good to these animals always, so that they, too, may experience happiness and joy in their lives. Let All Things Now Living Let all things now living a song of thanksgiving To God the creator triumphantly raise. Who fashioned and made us, protected and stayed us, Who still guides us on to the end of our days. God's banners are o'er us, His light goes before us, A pillar of fire shining forth in the night. Till shadows have vanished and darkness is banished As forward we travel from light into light. God s law still enforces, the stars in their courses and causes the sun in its splendour to shine; The hills and the mountains, the rivers and fountains, The deeps of the ocean proclaim him divine. We too should be voicing our love and rejoicing; With glad adoration a Song let us raise Till all things now living unite in thanksgiving: "To God in the highest, Hosanna and praise!" All Things Bright and Beautiful Refrain All things bright and beautiful, all creatures great and small, all things wise and wonderful, the Lord God made them all. Each radiant flower that opens, each vibrant bird that sings, God made their glowing colours, God made their lively wings. Refrain The rocky mountain splendour, the loon's wild, haunting call, the great lakes and the prairies, the forest in the fall. Refrain

God gave us eyes to see them, and lips that we might tell how great is the Creator, who has made all things well. Refrain God of the Sparrow God of the sparrow God of the whale God of the swirling stars How does the creature say Awe How does the creature say Praise God of the rainbow God of the cross God of the empty grave How does the creature say Grace How does the creature say Thanks God of the neighbour God of the foe God of the pruning hook How does the creature say Love How does the creature say Peace
