Clergy = priests, monks, and nuns Today, there are 20 million followers of Taoism worldwide, most of whom live in China, Taiwan, or Southeast Asia. The Tao-te Ching (or Dao De Jing) is the central text of Taoism. The emphasis of Daoism is on spiritual harmony within the individual, which complements Confucianism's focus on social duty. While Confucianism concerns itself with the social and moral side of life, Taoism focuses on the individual s spiritual life. (influence on Confucianism)
