MORNING WORSHIP SERVICE Jazz Celebration Sunday September 18, 2011 10:00 a.m. JAZZ PRELUDE: Blood Count Billy Strayhorn (1915-1967) * [Please stand for the Presentation of the Flame ] CALL TO WORSHIP Give thanks to the Lord of all Creation; Let us sing praise to God s Holy Name. Tell of all the wonderful acts God performs; Let us give glory to God. Let your hearts rejoice to overflowing; Let us seek God always. *HYMN: Wade in the Water ( included-see last page) ANNOUNCEMENTS *PRAYER OF INVOCATION Let our attitude be the same as that of Jesus Christ: Who being the very nature of God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, but made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made human in likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself and became obedient to death - - even death on a cross! Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow,

in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. Let us join together in the prayer that Jesus taught *THE LORD'S PRAYER (trespasses) Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, the power, and the glory forever. Amen. *GLORIA PATRI Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost; As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen" SCRIPTURE READING: Exodus 16:2-15 SOLO: Fill My Cup Richard Blanchard (1925-2004) Jazz Ensemble SCRIPTURE READING: Matthew 20:1-16 MORNING PRAYER CONGREGATION S JOYS AND CONCERNS Almighty God, to you our hearts are open, our desires known, and from you no secrets are hidden.
