3PK May 9-10, 2015 BRAVE Journey: Brave Acts 2; Joshua 1:9 We can share Jesus with others! First 10 minutes of the service hour: Engage kids in cooperative play activities to help them connect to other kids Next 5 minutes: Connect Time Next 25 minutes: Large Group Keep in mind, kids might not be perfectly engaged during small group. Do your best to engage every kid, but don t let redirecting take the place of reviewing the story. You may be surprised at what they pick up even if they appear to be disengaged! Last 30 minutes: Snack and Small Group Finish early? Repeat the activity! Kids this age learn through repetition. Or, check out the end of the activities section to find an idea for this week. When kids leave, remind them to give away the heart they made and tell somebody about Jesus! This week s lesson is all about Peter and the early church and what it was like for them to share Jesus with others. Hopefully, kids will walk away knowing that Peter told people about Jesus and we can too!

GOAL: Connect time is all about engaging kids in a short, interactive game to prepare them for Large Group. Clean up! (About 10 minutes after the service start time, when you get the 5- minute warning from the presenter) Line up. As kids are lined up, tell the kids that Peter told people about Jesus. Then practice. Start with one kid and tell them one of the phrases below. Have them turn to tell a friend and repeat down the line until all the kids have shared it (kids can speak loudly; this isn t a game of telephone): o Jesus loves you! o Jesus rescued us! o Jesus is king! o Jesus helps me be brave! o Jesus is with me always! o Jesus is God s Son! Before you go, practice putting on your listening ears to hear the story. Then tip-toe in together!

Goal: Kids will (1) understand that Peter told people about Jesus and (2) recognize that we can tell people about Jesus, too. Why? When we follow Jesus, he may call us to different adventures. But he calls all of us to share his love. Tip: Have some fun making hearts. You can even make one with kids and practice passing it around and saying Jesus loves you! like kids did during Large Group. REVIEW THE STORY 1. What did Peter tell everybody about? (Jesus love, Jesus rescue) 2. How did the Holy Spirit help Peter share Jesus? (he gave them power to do miracles and to keep sharing Jesus, even when people got mad at them) 3. Why did Peter share Jesus with others? (he wanted everybody to know Jesus) 4. How can we share Jesus? (we can say, Jesus loves you! or Jesus rescued you! or we could invite them to Kids Club or tell them stories about Jesus) PREPARE TO SHARE Give each kid a paper heart Use the stickers (3 per kid), stamps and markers to decorate it Tell them to give it to somebody special and say, Jesus loves you! *Pray together and thank God that we can share Jesus with others. Then give kids a heart coloring page. Extra time? To mix things up, turn this into a game of Freeze Dance. Play the Kids Club CD Love Beats. When the music plays, kids should dance like crazy! When it stops, they should freeze. The last kid to freeze (or the whole group) says, Jesus loves you! or Jesus rescued you!

1 There s a game at the end of today s lesson that s all about sharing Jesus love. Feel free to adapt it to best fit your group of kids. Make sure you use lots of eye contact and muster as much energy as possible as you present. Kids love it when you act silly and over-the-top, so go for it. They'll love it and it will help the lesson to stick. Presenter: Hi Friends! Welcome to Kid s Club. I'm and I'm really glad you're here today. Before we get started, I want you to meet my friend HOPS. She s going to remind us of the kind of choices we can make today in Kids Club. Video: HOPS 3 Put On Your Listening Ears (about 1 minute) Wow, let me see those listening ears again (let kids respond). Great! Now raise your hand if you re ready to have some fun in Kids Club today! (Let kids respond.) Me too! Alright, let s start by remembering the beginning of a very special story. REVIEW THE BEGINNING OF GOD S STORY Presenter: (Hold up the Bible for kids to see.) This is where we can read about God s story. Out of all the stories in the world, this story is the most important. It s God s Rescue plan. Remember how God made the whole world and everything was good? The world was perfect! Give me a smile! (Let kids respond. Then change your tone.) But THEN, something bad happened. A snake tricked the first two people, Adam and Eve, into thinking they didn t need to trust or obey God. So Adam and Eve disobeyed God, and sadness and death came into the world Show me your sad face. (Let kids respond) This was really sad. But even though Adam and Eve disobeyed God God loved them anyway! And he planned a great rescue so that Adam and Eve and you and me can be close to God again. We ve been talking about that King and Rescuer. His name is.(let kids say: Jesus!) Yes, Jesus! PETER RECAP (click to show image of Peter) We ve been talking about a guy who followed Jesus. Does anyone remember his name? (Let kids say: Peter) That s right, Peter! And if it s your first time here or you don t remember Peter, that s OK! We heard about how he bravely obeyed Jesus.

PETER TOLD OTHERS ABOUT JESUS One of the ways Peter acted like Jesus was by telling other people about his rescue! Peter knew that Jesus loves everybody and wants everybody to know it! And the Holy Spirit helped Peter share Jesus with others. We re going to watch a video about what happened. See if you can figure out how the Holy Spirit helped Peter! Video: God s Story / Peter and the Other Believers Wow, the Holy Spirit helped Peter and the other believers share Jesus love by healing people and telling everyone about Jesus! And nothing stopped them from telling people Jesus loves them. WE CAN TELL OTHERS ABOUT JESUS The best part is, we can tell people about Jesus too! In fact, we re going to practice that. In a minute, I m going to give a couple of you these hearts (hold up the large hearts). Your job is to hug it, then give it to someone else and say, Jesus loves you! Let s see how fast you can give it away. As soon as you ve hugged the heart and given it away, sit down. Ready? Stand up! (Let kids stand. Encourage volunteers to help kids with this. Pass the hearts around until every kid has been seated.) Wow, that was fun! I love getting to tell other people Jesus loves them, just like Peter did. We re going to practice that some more in our rooms. For now, let s talk to God and tell him thank you for wanting everyone to know his love! (Pray, breaking it into smaller, repeatable phrases). Pray: Hi God! Thanks for helping Peter to tell others about you. Thanks for loving us. Help me to tell others about you, too. In Jesus name, A-men! WORSHIP Now let s stand up and worship God. Worship is when we tell him how much we love him and thank him for being such a powerful and loving king! Music Video: Boss of Me Song: Come With Me Extra Song: Be Strong Dismiss kids to small groups. (Be creative as you dismiss them. Ask them to come give you a high five first, or maybe tiptoe or hop--like Hops--to their groups.)
