The name Epworth honored the birthplace of John and Charles Wesley. All Methodist youth, ages twelve through twenty-three, were eligible for membership in MYF. As the international youth organization of the church, youth delegates participated at all levels local, Annual Conference, Jurisdictional and General Conferences. Strong youth groups helped train the church leaders of the future. Much credit goes to parents and counselors who gave of themselves to ensure the success of MYF at First United Methodist Church, Myrtle Beach. R E REVOLUTION RECAP This past weekend was our annual trek to Columbia for Revolution and as always, we had an awesome time! Our weekend-long theme was from John 10:10, God came to give us an abundant life and how we don t need to get stuck in the current chapter of our lives, especially if that chapter isn t going exactly as planned. Many of our youth really took this message to heart, realizing they don t have to let the bad parts of their story define who they are. Holy Baptism The Sacrament of Holy Baptism was administered to Judah Augustus Kirby, son of Adam and Rev. Emily Kirby, at the Traditional Service on January 27, 2019 performed by Rev. Tom Brittain. PRAYER SHAWL MINISTRY Over the centuries, shawls have come to symbolize shelter, peace, comfort and spiritual sustenance. Many people need prayers during life changing times, so FUMC answered that need with a Prayer Shawl Ministry. A shawl is a tangible way to show that the recipient is being prayed for and is loved. A small group meets twice each month in the Church Parlor to knit and crochet. These individuals also work at home and bring finished items to church to be prayed over and blessed. Each shawl is gifted with a prayer card. This ministry is looking for more hands to help create these gifts for those in need. We welcome both youth and adults (men and women) to participate in this endeavor. If you have a desire to learn, we are willing to teach. Please consider joining us on the first and third Mondays of each month at 3:00 PM in the Church Parlor. Our next sessions are February 4th and 18th. Please feel free to direct any questions to Darlene Rebeck at 843-712-1459. In this ministry, we are able to offer these talents God has given us to share His love with others. How Awesome!
